Wydany w atrakcyjnej okładce (wewnątrz której widnieje fajne, unikalne, duże zdjęcie z koncertu z 1977 roku) pojedynczy, LIMITOWANY europejski CD, zawierający doskonale brzmiący (transmisja radiowa + dwie bardzo dobre rejestracje z publiczności) godzinny występ, nagrany w lipcu 1978 roku, podczas japońskiej trasy promującej genialny, czwarty album "Stained Class" (z perkusistą Lesem Binksem). Po tym albumie zespół porzucił progresywne naleciałości, zaś Rob Halford zaczął śpiewać nieco mocniej niż wcześniej... Kapitalny zestaw nagrań (w tym 13-minutowa, improwizowana wersja "Genocide") z bardzo dobrym, czytelnym brzmieniem.

UWAGA! Za grupą Ser Charles stoi Stefan Kornacki - artysta multimedialny, poeta i autor tekstów, laureat "Talentów Trójki 2012" w kategorii Sztuki Wizualne. Początkowo pod pseudonimem Ser Charles publikował swoje wiersze, które stały się podstawą i punktem wyjściowym do komponowania utworów.

Za stronę muzyczną przedsięwzięcia odpowiadają Paweł Możuch, Adam Staszewski oraz Tomasz Organek - ubiegłoroczny laureat nagrody muzycznej Mateusze Trójki za znakomitą płytę "Głupi". Muzyka formacji zakorzeniona jest w post punku i nowej fali. Brzmienie jest brutalne, mroczne, jazgotliwe i niepokojące. Na tym tle słyszymy melodeklamacje Stefana Kornackiego.

Poeta interpretuje swoje wiersze dość sugestywnie, choć nie próbuje robić tego w sposób aktorski. Utwory są krótkie, dosadne, pełne ciekawych skojarzeń, czasem wulgarne.

Łączenie poezji z rockiem nie jest niczym nowym w polskiej muzyce, stanowi przeciwwagę dla znienawidzonej przez wielu tzw. poezji śpiewanej. Podobny zabieg stosował choćby Marcin Świetlicki i jego Świetliki czy niedawno Dr Misio. W przypadku Ser Charles efekt jest równie frapujący.

Wszyscy fani Świetlików (oraz Variete) będą zachwyceni tą płytą. Genialne wierszo-piosenki otulone ostrym, rockowym, surowym brzmieniem. Dawno już nie było młodego zespołu, który w tak ambitny sposób łączy niebanalne teksty z bezkompromisową muzyką gitarową. Piosenki są krótkie - kondensacja treści do maksimum, jest to album bez żadnych wypełniaczy. Współczesna poezja z dźwiękami najlepszych rockowych czasów.

Muzyka formacji zakorzeniona jest w post punku i nowej fali. Brzmienie jest brutalne, mroczne, jazgotliwe i niepokojące. Na tym tle słyszymy melodeklamacje Stefana Kornackiego.

Poeta interpretuje swoje wiersze dość sugestywnie, choć nie próbuje robić tego w sposób aktorski. Utwory są krótkie, dosadne, pełne ciekawych skojarzeń, czasem wulgarne.

Łączenie poezji z rockiem nie jest niczym nowym w polskiej muzyce, stanowi przeciwwagę dla znienawidzonej przez wielu tzw. poezji śpiewanej. Podobny zabieg stosował choćby Marcin Świetlicki i jego Świetliki czy niedawno Dr Misio. W przypadku Ser Charles efekt jest równie frapujący.

Szóste jak dotąd studyjne dzieło zespołu, wynosi rzeź na zupełnie nowy poziom, serwując świeżą porcję doskonałego death metalu.
Dzięki perfekcyjnemu wykonaniu i miażdżącej produkcji Belle City Sound, kwartet brutalizuje zmysły ostrymi jak brzytwa riffami i szalonymi solówkami. To death metal bez zbędnych ceregieli, pokazujący, że stara gwardia wciąż należy do najsilniejszych.



MORTA SKULD to bardzo ciekawe zjawisko przyrodnicze. Zespół powstał w 1990 roku, a więc w czasach, gdy death metal puszczany był nawet na wiejskich przytupówkach, weselach, akademiach szkolnych, czy w końcu na pogrzebach. Było go po prostu wszędzie pełno, a kapele powstawały w męskich toaletach, na zakrapianych imprezach, czy podczas wspólnego trzepania dywanów na osiedlowej konstrukcji z metalowych rurek. W tamtych latach 90. był po prostu zajebisty bum na tego rodzaju muzę. No i korzystając z tak sprzyjających okoliczności przyrody, Dave Gregor postanowił spełnić swoje marzenie i dołączyć do szerokiego grona ludzi szarpiących druty na swych przesterowanych gitarach. Sklecił na szybko ekipę, by w sposób należyty, czyli przez muzykę oddawać hołd śmierć metalowej sztuce. I tak oto można powiedzieć, że jak z penisa strzelił, jego zespół w tym roku obchodzi 30-lecie działalności (z pewną przerwą) na death metalowym podwórku.

Zwieńczeniem tego jubileuszu jest krążek „Suffer for Nothing”, wydany 25. września przez Peaceville Records. Trzeba sobie uczciwie przyznać, że z zespołem Morta Skuld jest jak z prostytutką. Starzeje się, starzeje, ale rączki są nadal bardzo sprawne, a z biegiem lat i doświadczeniem, rozwija bardzo swój talent. Jak dla mnie, Amerykanie w poprzednim stuleciu byli zespołem na pograniczu pierwszej i drugiej ligi. Po jego reaktywacji w 2012 roku kapela wyraźnie zaczęła iść w górę, by w końcu wedrzeć się na ten wymarzony, nieosiągalny wcześniej poziom. Wydana w 2017 roku płyta „Wounds Deeper than Time” otworzyła w końcu upragnione drzwi do „wielkiej kariery” (wszyscy oczywiście wiemy, jak te wielkie kariery w świecie ekstremalnej muzyki wyglądają). Najważniejsze, że po tylu latach mozolnej i ciężkiej pracy, formacja jest już na najwyższym „poziomie rozgrywek”. Z płyty na płytę (ma ich sześć w dorobku) zespół Morta Skuld robił widoczne postępy.

W przypadku „Suffer for Nothing” możemy jednak mówić o kontynuacji tego, co chłopaki zaprezentowali na jego poprzedniku. Po prostu szlifowanie bardzo dobrej formy z „Wounds Deeper than Time”. Soczysty, klasyczny death metal, zagrany według podstawowych standardów, raz szybko, raz wolno, ale z dużą, przemyślaną dozą fantazji, by nie była to tylko monotonną papka. Ja osobiście uwielbiam utwory, które przejeżdżają po mnie jak czołg po niemieckich żołnierzach podczas drugiej wojny światowej, czyli rozpierdalają mnie na miazgę. Na nowym krążku Amerykanów też znalazłem taką kompozycje. Jest to „Abyss of the Mind”, oczywiście moja ulubiona. Drugim utworem, na który szczególnie zwróciłem uwagę jest „The Face I Hate”. Świetna kompozycja, dosadnie pokazująca, jaki techniczny warsztat muzyczny posiadają członkowie Morta Skuld. Doskonałe zmiany tempa okraszone skromnymi, acz zajebiście dobrze wpadającym w ucho solówkami.

No i jeszcze chciałbym poruszyć kwestię perkusji. Zasiada za nią były muzyk zespołu Jungle Rot – Eric House, który w rewelacyjny sposób przeniósł styl swojego grania z tamtej kapeli na obecną. Myślę, że również dzięki jego doskonałej pracy na bębnach muzyka na nowej płycie Morta Skuld wydaje się taka pełna. Muzyka, do której nie zmieściłyby się już żadne inne dźwięki, bo wszystkie potrzebne, by bardzo wysoko ocenić ten krążek, już zostały na niej umieszczone.

Pozostało mi tylko podziękować założycielowi grupy (Dave Gregor) za to, że z uporem totalnego maniaka tworzy swoją, coraz lepszą muzykę, która przez tyle lat cieszy zapewne nie tylko moje przewody słuchowe.

The band was founded in 1990, so at a time when death metal was played even at country halls, weddings, school academies, and finally at funerals. There was simply plenty of it everywhere, and the bands were formed in men’s toilets, at drenched parties, or during joint beating of carpets on a neighborhood structure made of metal pipes. Back in the ’90s, it was just a fucking boom for that kind of music. And taking advantage of such favorable circumstances of nature, Dave Gregor decided to make his dream come true and join a wide group of people plucking wires on their distorted guitars. He assembled a team quickly to pay tribute to metal art in an appropriate manner, that is through music. And so it can be said that as quick as the shot from penis, his team this year celebrates its 30th anniversary (with a break) in the death metal backyard.

The culmination of this jubilee is the album „Suffer for Nothing”, released on September 25 by Peaceville Records. It must be honestly admitted that the Morta Skuld team is like a prostitute. She gets old, but the handles are still very efficient, and with the years and experience, she develops her talent a lot. As for me, the Americans in the last century were a team on the border of the first and second league. After its reactivation in 2012, the band clearly began to go up, to finally reach this dream, previously unattainable level. Released in 2017, the album „Wounds Deeper than Time” finally opened the coveted door to a „great career” (we all know, of course, how these great careers in the world of extreme music look like). The most important thing is that after so many years of arduous and hard work, the formation is already at the highest „level”. From album to album (it has six of them in its output), Morta Skuld’s was making visible progress.

In the case of „Suffer for Nothing”, however, we can talk about a continuation of what the guys presented on its predecessor. Just sanding very good shape with „Wounds Deeper than Time”. Juicy, classic death metal, played according to basic standards, sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly, but with a large, well-thought-out dose of fantasy, so that it would not be just a monotonous mush. I personally love the tracks that run over me like a tank after German soldiers during the Second World War, so they fuck me to the pulp. I also found such compositions on the new American album. It’s „Abyss of the Mind”, my favorite of course. The second track that I particularly paid attention to is „The Face I Hate”. A great composition, bluntly showing what kind of music technique the members of Morta Skuld have. Perfect pace changes with modest, but fucking catchy solos.

And I would also like to mention the issue of drums. Behind it is the former musician of the band Jungle Rot – Eric House, who in a sensational way transferred his style of playing from that band to the current one. I think that also thanks to his excellent work on drums the music on the new Morta Skuld album seems so full. Music that would not fit any other sounds, because all the sounds needed to rate this CD very highly, have already been placed on it.

The only thing left for me to do is to thank the founder of the group (Dave Gregor) for the fact that he is stubbornly creating his own, better and better music, which for so many years probably enjoys not only my ear canals.

Najbardziej dojrzałe dzieło SEVEN SISTERS, prezentujące pełnię ich kompozytorskiego potencjału. Godne zakończenie sagi science fiction!



Four years feels like quite a while to wait for the second installment of a two-part album series (insert Wintersun joke here), but Shadow Of A Fallen Star, Pt. 2 does well to pick up where the first left off. It continues to showcase Seven Sisters’ regal heavy metal style that marries hyper-melodic vocal lines, precise but speedy rhythms, and elegant guitar interplay. However, this album’s song layout sets it apart from its predecessor, featuring four tracks that include three of their standard power numbers alongside a closing twenty-minute epic.

This presentation risks making Pt. 2 look less developed in comparison but the songwriting maintains a strong quality standard. The shorter numbers are understandably the easiest to get a feel for as “Astral Prophecies” thematically fades in before kicking off into a soaring structure across eight minutes. “Solar Winds” and “Heart Of The Sun” are the biggest standouts, the former putting in a striding tempo with a couple atmospheric buildups while the latter hones in on airy vibes with a driving beat and the album’s strongest chorus.

On the flip side, the closing epic “Andromeda Descending” inevitably takes some extra time to properly feel out. It doesn’t get too proggy in a sense of time signatures or out-of-genre excursions, but one could certainly pick up shades of retro Rush or Fates Warning with the full dynamic pushes from a fast start, mid-tempo plods halfway through, and a building climax. I admittedly wish the whole could’ve been a little more cohesive, the instrumental segments can feel a little tangential when there’s not so much instant memorability to cling to, but it’s a fitting finish for a sprawling saga.

I may still find Shadow Of A Fallen Star’s first part to be the more palatable listen, but it is good to see some quality resolution with Pt. 2. Both albums do an excellent job of highlighting the group’s growing ambitions between the classy musicianship and dramatic songwriting; it’s especially cool to see this installment hold together with enough straightforward numbers to feel solid along with the bold closing epic. It’s a little tricky to tell whether Seven Sisters will try to broaden the scope or stay the course from here, but folks looking for a band to toe the lines of power and traditional metal in dignified fashion will find it across the board.
