13 listopada 2008 roku Gary Moore wystąpił na Baloise Session, wydarzeniu w Bazylei (Szwajcaria), w kameralnej atmosferze klubu.
Wielu uważa ten występ za jeden z najlepszych w jego karierze.

Trzy lata później, 6 lutego 2011 roku, zmarł w wieku 58 lat podczas wakacji w Hiszpanii...

To elektryzujący, choć dość krótki spektakl, ukazujący potężną, nieustępliwą i zaciekłą grę Moore'a.

After I had purchased the (former Classic Rock Productions label) Inside editions of Yes, ELP, Genesis, Supertramp and Pink Floyd, I was desperately searching for the King Crimson Inside 1972-1975 DVD for years. It was so hard to get because shortly after the first edition was released, Robert Fripp hired a lawyer in order to prosecute the producers of the King Crimson Inside DVD. Then this DVD disappeared out of the records shops and was "officially no longer available". This week I was pleasantly surprised to discover the King Crimson Inside 1972-1975 DVD in one of my favorite record shops. On the back cover I read that it has been re-released in 2005 and former King Crimson member of the 'classic King Crimson 1972-1975 line-up' David Cross is involved in this project. This is a bit cynical because other King Crimson member of that classic line-up Robert Fripp is opposing against this DVD, you can read about that on Robert Fripp his website in his diary in July 2006.
While watching this DVD I got more and more excited because of the very good and inspired musical analysis (by journalists, musicians, record producers, band members, reviewers) and the amazing, sometimes very rare Seventies video footage. In this review I have created chapters that vary slightly from the DVD chapters, let's call it 'artistic freedom'.

THE BAND: It is mentioned that King Crimson "went through an awful lot of personal changes that clearly effected the band", "the new line-up made more experimental music, more based upon improvisation" and "This King Crimson is a fine example of British Art Rock" ...

THE MEMBERS: about Robert Fripp: "he is a bit like the Alec Guiness of the guitar, he has no single style", "Fripp can range from classical to soft jazz to heavy metal", "his distorted guitar sound was more close to Jeff Beck than Page or Hendrix but less bluesy" and "Fripp was not only a virtuosic guitarist but also somebody who thought what's best for the band". About Bill Bruford: "Bill was able to enhance the melodies around him" and "After Yes for Bill King Crimson was the perfect antidote, it was about art, music and expression and not about ego-mania". About John Wetton: "John was very versatile, reliable, he had a sense of power and funkyness", "his vocals were almost an instrument" and "John had an archetypical poprock vocal style". About Jamie Muir: "He was regarded as the secret weapon", "he could play everything and incorporate that in the band" and "It was beautiful organised chaos". And about David Cross: "his violinplay was great, it could be another improvised voice, from avant-garde and romantic to classical and jazz".

THE ALBUMS: the focus on this DVD is on three studio albums: Larks' Tongues In Aspic from 1973 ("King Crimson loved 5/4 and 7/4 signatures", the whole thing is very dark" and "it's never self-indulgent"), Starless And Bible Black from 1974 ("this album is more composed and less improvised than LTIA", "Wetton his singing is vastly superior than on LTIA" and "the song Fractured is Fripp at his best: jazzrock meets heavy metal meets alternative progressive!) and finally Red from 1974 ("the titletrack is the greatest ever King Crimson riff", "the song Red is heavier than Deep Purple and Black Sabbath in that time", "Starless is the finest piece of music King Crimson ever made"). I got goose bumps when an emotional and gently gesturing Robert Fripp told (1991 interview) about Starless as "a beautiful melodic line"!

THE VIDEO FOOTAGE: In comparison to the other legendary symphonic prog/Art-rock bands there is very little Seventies video footage and only the song Larks' Tongues In Aspic (on the Beatclub 1973 DVD compilation) is official. This video footage is extensively used on this Inside 1972-1975 DVD but the real excitement is delivered by the Atlantic Records Promotional Film from 1972 (unknown to me) featuring lots of great images (songs Easy Money and Improvisations On Easy Money) from all band members, especially Robert Fripp (playing fiery soli on his black Gibson Les Paul) and David Cross on his violin and on the white Mellotron M400 is breathtaking, THIS IS VISUAL PROGROCK HISTORY! Other video footage is from Yes with Bill Bruford (Beatclub 1971), Asia Live 1990 (with John Wetton on acosutic guitar), John Wetton Live 2003 (with Martin Offord on keyboards) playing captivating renditions of Starless and Red (the full versions are the two bonustracks on this DVD) and from David Cross (past and present like the song Terminal) who also gives some thrilling demonstrations on his violin and lots of interesting comments about his King Crimson period.

After having smashed prevailing standards for the style with their unique approach on their highly lauded previous release, Replicant take things further still with their new full length, finding ways to make their music even more convoluted and impactful while retaining their trademark dissonant and catchy sound. They've found ways to add new aspects to it without hampering the momentum, constantly changing things up with the listener's body still lashing uncontrollably. The songs veer off in their own unexpected, thrilling directions while upholding the inherent semblance of groove, only to reconnect later with greater force. Things seem to add up and make sense as the album progresses, an ostensibly innocuous mechanical contraption getting constant upgrades to become potentially world-ending. There's fire in the songwriting, the members refusing to succumb to the lull of complacency and working furiously, constantly on the songs to elevate them to a rarefied category. It sees the stature of the band rising, the sound evolving methodically and convincingly, the album giving more than what could be expected from them having already established their identity, and in turn setting new standards for others yet again.

Norwegian band Diskord show us why they're masters when it comes to this kind of twisted, convoluted, and quite frankly timeless death metal. They're inexorably pushing their sound forward in their own way and even after a couple of decades of existence, they manage to keep their music refreshing and unpredictable. The four new songs that are a part of this split are even more erratic and out-of-the-box. Indeed, there are about a hundred variations in them but how each of the songs progress will still leave you guessing. It's just ingenious songwriting that reaches out and grabs your attention despite the unnatural complexity and compels you to listen to the songs again and again to fully wrap your head around them. They're an absolute delight for any fan of progressive, technical or even dissonant death metal, regardless of his old school or contemporary stylistic inclination.

UK progressive death trailblazers Atvm left an indelible mark with their groundbreaking full length and they return with some of their longest and best songs for this special split release. The music may not be as technical as that of their label mates on this split but it's every bit as engrossing and they even throw some nasty curveballs of their own - the longish playing time only allows them to shape-shift multiple times with ease and they do that with conviction. There's an inherent sickness to their music and their progression feels visceral. They have their own way of doing things and it's definitely a thrill to follow the sinuous patterns and eccentricities that they throw along the way. These songs are yet another testament to the raw talent of this relative newcomer and their pairing with Diskord on this split only brings out the quirky appeal of their music some more.

Miażdżący ultra szybki i brutalny super techniczny grinding death metal z Północnej Karoliny w klimatach wczesnego DEEDS OF FLESH, DYING FETUS, DISAVOWED, DISGORGE (USA).

Czym takim charakteryzuje się death metal za oceanu? A tym, że wciąga jak bagno hehe!!! Tak, właśnie to jest to czego pragnę! Mam przed sobą wyjątkowo ciekawą pozycje, cechującą się niczym innym jak tylko ultra szybkim death metalem znanym pod szyldem Debodified. Nie ukrywam, że Debodified nic nowego nie odkrywa, w rzeczy samej gra bez wątpienia mega brutalny death metal, powodujący pożądaną rozkosz ciała i umysłu. Więc co więcej jest w nim takiego ciekawego? Otóż mili państwo przede wszystkim niczym nie okiełznana zwierzęcość. Tak się teraz gra na amerykańskich ziemiach, brutalnie, ciężko, bez ograniczeń!

Na „Utopia In The Eyes Of A Beast” rządzi zwierzęca agresja, bogata szorstka stylistyka zmieniająca się jak w kalejdoskopie. W sumie to szczególny nacisk przeszywa szarżująca brutalność z gdzie niegdzie wyczuwalnymi momentami słabości, która cechuje się mało znaczącymi zwolnieniami. Jednak cały krążek to istny huragan, ciężki, do bólu masywny, rozrywający sond miażdżący, sieka i rozpruwa. Nawet momentami jest bardzo melodyjnie, ale to jednak zasłona dymana dla rozkręcających się za chwilę chropowatych, ultra szybkich dźwięków. Jeszcze ten wokal wgniatający w podłogę wylewający z siebie świńskie charczenia, okrzyki zwierzęcia prowadzonego na rzęź. Debodified to pozycja bezapelacyjnie dla wytrwałych maniaków lubiących ból i cierpienie.

Kick-ass death metal from the tobacco-infested lands of the Carolinas! Boy, oh boy, after hearing Lust of Decay, I thought they were the best that the Carolinas had to offer, but I was wrong, folks. Lust of Decay is a pretty similar band to in sound, especially when you look at the fact that the two bands share drummer Jordan Varela. And my goodness is he a beast behind the kit, with tons of excellent fills, and they don't get monotonous at times like they do on LoD's Infesting The Exhumed.

This band has some heavy-ass riffs, a nice slam here and there (at around 1:58 on "Instinct For Malevolence" = Intimidatingly heavy/brutal), but the riffs wouldn't sound nearly as good if it weren't for the fills. The band has an intro with Adolf Hitler speaking at the beginning of "Terminated With Extreme Prejudice", and while I normally would look down upon this, I suck it up and again the music in all of its aggressiveness.

All in all, this a kick-ass brutal DM album with fast brutal drumming, some good breakdowns, a few leads, and above average vox. Highly recommended!
