Filmed at The Summit in Houston, Texas on November 20, 1975, this DVD captures a typically incendiary live performance by The Who at the start of the US leg of their tour in support of The Who By Numbers album which had been released earlier that year. The original video footage has been cleaned and the sound remixed by longtime Who collaborator Jon Astley but the show still retains a rawness that encapsulates the energy of The Who’s performance.

Emerging from the modern Italian prog scene back in 2009, Il Tempio delle Clessidre initially came together due to the desire of female keyboard player Elisa Montaldo to perform the classic Italian progressive album `Zarathustra' alongside the original vocalist Stefano "Lupo" Galifi. With the addition of more players, writing sessions soon produced an album of original compositions which formed the basis for their self-titled debut release in 2010. To some (myself included), the album was a bit of a modern Italian classic, and as good word of mouth spread, the band were also able to commence live performances. `Live in Seoul' is a two DVD set from Black Widow Records, containing a complete two hour show featuring the band performing the bulk of their debut album, as well as a daring (and risky) interpreatation of a particular work that can only be considered one of the most important and defining vintage Italian progressive albums.
The first disc is devoted to a 2011 performance of the entire Museo Rosenbach classic from 1973 `Zarathustra', however, to call it a `cover version' would be hugely dismissive and somewhat insulting. Instead, the Il Tempio band take the arrangement of the original work and then completely reinvent it. All the familiar themes still show up, but they're woven between new and alternate passages, instrumental improvisations and fresh vocal arrangements. The following fifty minute performance is played with such a wild energy by a group of musicians utterly passionate about the revered vintage RPI work, and it stands completely on its own merits. Compared to the original, the drumming, bass and electric guitars have an added attacking heavy power (some older fans and prog-snobs will likely have a tough time with this part), and plenty of focus is placed on gothic priestess Elisa Montaldo's evocative and dazzling keyboard atmospheres. Stefano "Lupo" Galifi's lead vocals sound just as strong and commanding as they did on the original work, and the thirty-odd years since then have not weakened his voice even slightly. An element that immediately lifts the piece even higher are new duet vocal passages between Stefano and Elisa, and she even takes several solo spots herself, absolutely enchanting and hypnotic.

The second set from the band has them performing most of their debut album, a strongly theatrical performance dominated by dark queen Montaldo, but all the other members charging the material with a wilder force compared to the studio album versions. There's also footage from various progressive music related festivals such as 2 Days and Nearfest Apocalypse, their first live performance in Genova from 2009, various behind the scenes bonuses, reviews and a photo gallery.

Big changes would come for Il Tempio delle Clessidre soon after the Seoul performance. A proper reunion of the original Museo Rosenbach from the Seventies would see Lupo depart to rejoin his old band, resulting in them releasing a new album `Barbarica' in 2013. Il Tempio would (thankfully) carry on with a new vocalist Francesco Ciapica to release `Alienatura' in 2013, an exciting and varied album that proved they were not simply some group of imitators, and it builds even more on the talent that was instantly displayed right from their superb debut album, whilst also allowing them to forge their own identity without relying on high profile connections. But that's the next chapter currently being written...!

Museo Rosenbach and `Zarathustra' fans, please do not be alarmed by the decision of the band to play this beloved vintage Italian release. Personally speaking, `Zarathustra' is one of my absolute favourite RPI albums that I have listened to endlessly over the years, one that I also instantly think of to recommend to listeners wanting to investigate the vintage Italian prog era for the first time. I myself approached this part of the live DVD with apprehension and some suspicion, so to witness Il Telpio delle Clessidre perform it with utmost respect to the original, but also implementing their own skill, passion and clever musical ideas is hugely satisfying and frequently thrilling. I hope diehard Italian prog fans will give it a chance and hopefully be just as won over by it as I was.

Almost four hours of concert footage, powerful live performances from a talented group of charismatic musicians, and a colourful variety of theatrical flair, `Live in Seoul' is an essential live document of Il Tempio delle Clessidre, one of the most exciting and distinctive modern RPI bands, so take the opportunity to allow Lady Elisa Montaldo and her male guard to cast their spell on you.

Awesome! In this new century we have been lucky enough to witness a wave of new and great classic-inspired modern Italian progressive rock bands; the names of Il Bacio della Medusa, Egonon, La Conscienza di Zeno and of course Il Tempio delle Clessidre have been knocking hard in our ear-doors and have entered with solid offerings to this unique musical realm. Me, as an RPI lover am truly enthusiastic regarding these (and others) bands which have released excellent albums and now in this case, DVDs.

Il Tempio delle Clessidre released their first live DVD in 2014 through Black Widow Records, the title is "Live in Seoul" and is a 2-DVD set that shows amazing performances. This band was born thanks to keyboard player Elisa Montaldo whose love for Museo Rosenbach's Zarathustra made her start a band in which "Lupo" Galiffi (from Museo) was the main vocalist. Fabio Gremo on bass, Paolo Tixi on drums and Giulio Canepa on guitars complement this 5-piece outstanding band.

Well, though I must be honest, the video quality is not what I would call the best, but after all, it is not that important because the music and the performances are the main elements. The first DVD contains a two-hour concert from Seoul, recorded on October 8th, 2011. It is divided in two acts. The first one is called "Il Museo" and as you can imagine, a full performance of Zarathustra is given, and though the voice is from the original singer and that is a relevant point, the music and the performance are not the same, I mean, it is not a copycat, because Il Tempio introduces different arrangements, figures and performances, they also add some instrumental passages that made the version of their own, so it is Il Tempio's Zarathustra.

It is evident that this new band loves vintage prog and they really enjoy playing it, we can watch how passionate they perform, how they live the music and how they transmit it to the audience, in spite Japanese people do not show their emotions so easily. I remember when I see Museo Rosenbach at Baja Prog 2014, me and other friends were so excited singing, moving our bodies and becoming crazy, because how won't you go crazy with such a powerful music and performance? Elisa Montaldo is a terrific keyboard player, her dress, voice and sensuality adds even more cadence to the already exquisite music, while the other guys are equally important, each one doing their best with their instrument and acting like gods.

The second act is entitled "Il Tempio", and it shows a full performance of their first and self-titled album. So now the vintage becomes new, because they offer first class RPI with an amazing fresh sound that makes us feel alive and kicking. It excites me a lot because I really love Italian prog, so to know there are bands like this one doing extraordinary music is worth getting excited. In this second set there are moments where Lupo does not sing, there are amazing instrumental passages and curious symphonic, dark atmospheres that are wonderfully complemented by some performance details like in "Danza Esoterica di Datura", when Montaldo spread datura (like a perfume) to the audience. Later the musicians go out with masks, so it produces a drama scenario, like being in a literary play. There is an encore at the end, a bit repetitive, but enjoyable anyways, it is called Zarathustra Medley, so go figure.

That concert is just an example of how great this band is and how I would love to see them live sometime soon. The first DVD is enough to spend great time and to buy this release. However, there is also a second DVD! It might be repetitive, but I think it is a great additional feature, because we can see the band in different concerts, from their very first live show in 2009, to the one at NEARFest Apocalypse in 2012. I repeat, talking strictly about video recording, it is not superb, but when you listen to the music and see them performing, wow, you just have to love it.

The legendary German band Einstürzende Neubauten, known since the '80s for their uncompromising approach to music has come up with yet another groundbreaking project far ahead of its times, enabling them to work on their endeavors without needing to bow to the music industry's rules and regulations.

What impact this cheeky use of modern technology has had on the band, their fans and the music industry is portrayed in this documentary Einstürzende Neubauten - On Tour With Neubauten.Org by Danielle De Picciotto. Danielle De Picciotto, an American artist living in Berlin since the fall of the wall, has influenced Berlin's cultural scene since 1985 in many ways as the co-innovator of the Love Parade, the Ocean Club with Gudrun Gut and Kunst oder König, the club-cultural exhibition series presenting Berlin's creative cross-culture internationally.

Also an active member of Berlin's music scene (former singer of the Space Cowboys) she has known Einstürzende Neubauten personally for almost twenty years, following their development with interest. After becoming a member of their new project Neubauten.org, in 2003 she was asked to document the ensuing tour in 2004 by Blixa Bargeld, singer of the band, to provide material for future concert documentaries. Besides filming every show, she interviewed countless "supporters" worldwide, ending up with this documentary -- a courageous example of how following an individual, courageous path can change people's lives worldwide.

One of the tests of the musical credibility of a Power/Prog band is their ability to faithfully recreate the wonders that they first conceive of in the studio in the live venue. Bands such as Dream Theater and Rush have consistently set a standard of perfectionism that is not easily adhered to, particularly when you write a highly complex style of music. In this effort Mark Boals and his band of top class virtuoso musicians once again rise to the challenge.

The music on here is executed flawlessly, as Tony Macalpine, Vitalij Kuprij, Virgil Donati and Phillip Bynoe live by the same perfectionist ideal that drives classical musicians to faithfully recreate the various compositions of the old maestros. And like many of those old maestros, they are not afraid to showcase their talent in the field of live improvisation. Phillip Bynoe is quite the expert at speed picking on the bass during the various Power Metal songs on here, but his slap bass solo rivals the likes of Les Claypool. Likewise, both Tony Macalpine and Kuprij showcase a fine set of improvised etudes comprised of rapid sweep picking (arpeggios in Kuprij’s case) and scale runs.

But more important than the opportunity to dazzle an audience with one’s technical skill is the ability to give the audience the songs that they came to hear. One of the flaws often caught on live CDs featuring Speed Metal bands are irregularities in the double bass drum work, but Virgil Donati is like a human metronome and doesn’t know the meaning of the phrase “skipped beat”. Likewise, Power Metal vocalists are often mired by an inability to hit all the outlandishly high notes that they produce in the studio, but Mark Boals does not become a weak link and actually performs the songs professionally without a lot of the added shouts in between verses that some metal singers dabble in.

The bulk of the material played on here can be found on the “Ring of Fire” and “The Oracle” studio albums, but we also get an unreleased track in “Leviathan”. Perks like these are always an endearing quality for live albums as they give extra incentive for would be purchasers. Essentially the song is cut from the same grain as the fast songs off “The Oracle”, loaded with amazing guitar soloing and keyboard themes.

If you like Power/Prog in the vain of Symphony X and Ayreon, if you heard what was on the 2 previously mentioned Mark Boals albums, and you like listening to great musicians show off their skill then this is a Live CD worth getting. The concert contained within is massive, filling up 2 CDs, and encompassing nearly ever single song found on both “Ring of Fire” and “The Oracle”.

Wiem, że wielu słuchaczy podchodzi z dużym dystansem do takich wydawnictw. Że to taka zapchajdziura w dyskografii, dopełnienie kontraktu albo wyciągnięcie ostatniego grosza od wiernych fanów. I pewnie w paru przypadkach tak było, jednak Soen z przerabiania swojego materiału na nieco symfoniczną modłę wyszedł obronną ręką. Ale po kolei.

Po pierwsze – to kolejne muzyczne dziecko pandemicznych czasów. Troszkę takich materiałów w stylu „na żywo, ale w studio” w ostatnich latach powstało. Po drugie – tak, praktycznie nie ma tu premierowego materiału. Muzycy dokonują swoistej reinterpretacji dwunastu autorskich kompozycji odczytując je na nowo wraz z ośmioosobowym składem symfoników „uzbrojonych” w skrzypce, altówki, wiolonczelę czy pianino. Pomysł nienowy, niemniej w ich prezentacji wypadający przekonująco.

Bo Soen to kapela grająca ciężko i progmetalowo. Zespół, w którym - nomen omen – pierwsze skrzypce grają mocarne, selektywne, poszatkowane niekiedy, matematycznie gitarowe riffy. Ale to też grupa skrywająca w swoich kompozycjach niezwykle piękną, niekiedy nostalgiczną i melancholijną melodyjność. I tu urok tych melodii został wypuszczony na pierwszy plan. Żeby była jasność, zespół dalej gra tu „elektrycznie”. Nie ma tu żadnego (no prawie żadnego) „akustycznego ciumkania”. Jest solidna sekcja rytmiczna ale i gitary. Te jednak złagodzone i nieco schowane, by dać pole do popisu symfonikom. Grupa faktycznie przearanżowała wiele kompozycji, w których urzekają przecudne, jesienne formy pianina, czy smyczkowe tła, które czasami wygrywają melodyczne figury nieobecne w wersjach oryginalnych. Dobór kompozycji jest zaiste wyborny - sam szukając najbardziej przebojowych i zapamiętywalnych ich utworów nie wybrałbym lepiej. A do tego artyści serwują… dwie wisienki na torcie. Pierwszą z nich jest zupełnie premierowy utwór Trials, specjalnie przygotowany na to wydawnictwo i idealnie zintegrowany z całością. Swoją drogą, jestem niezwykle ciekawy, czy muzycy zdecydują się kiedyś na reinterpretację tej kompozycji, tylko że „w drugą stronę” – z wersji symfonicznej na metalową. Druga wisienką jest cover Snuff, czyli numeru… Slipknota. Spokojnie, każdy kto zna twórczość szaleńców z Iowa wie, że to kompozycja delikatna jak baranek, zatem wielkiej rewolucji tu nie dostaniemy, ale pomysł godny jest zauważenia.

Recenzowany materiał przygotowany został w formacie CD + DVD z dokładnie tym samym, 80-minutowym materiałem muzycznym na obu płytach. Na tej drugiej wszak mamy wszystko ubrane w obraz. Rzecz nieprzypadkowo zatytułowano Atlantis, bowiem występ nakręcono i nagrano 10 grudnia 2021 roku w słynnym sztokholmskim studiu Atlantis Grammofon, które w czasach II wojny światowej było kinem, a później Metronome Studio, w którym nagrywali między innymi Quincy Jones, Lenny Kravitz, Green Day ale przede wszystkim Abba, której legenda i pierwsze płyty zrodziły się właśnie w tym miejscu. I tak, wszystkich muzyków, fakt że w dość statycznej formule, możemy zobaczyć w jego wnętrzu, w którym na jednej ze ścian widnieje świecący niczym neon szyld Soen. Powolne ujęcia i najazdy pozwalają cieszyć się oglądaniem precyzyjnej gry muzyków. Fajnie też wypada wokalista Joel Ekelöf, który siedząc, musi - tak naprawdę - wyładować całą swą ekspresję, poprzez emocjonalną mimikę twarzy. I to też dodaje pewnej dramaturgii temu występowi.

Gwoli pewnej ścisłości warto dodać, że Blu-ray zawiera dodatkowo 25-minutowy materiał filmowy Insights Into Atlantis złożony z ekskluzywnego wywiadu z całym zespołem i z materiałami „zza kulis”.

This review is being written just as Soen is wrapping up a hugely successful Latin American leg of its “Imperial” tour and preparing to embark on the European leg of its highly anticipated “Atlantis” tour. The latter is dedicated to the very album that is being reviewed here; the live, orchestra-backed “Atlantis”, as a refresher of sorts before European audiences finally have the opportunity to experience it in person.

While writing this in the context described above, I can’t help but ponder how I would summarize the album I’m about to review as an all-encompassing title. And here’s what I’ve come up with: Soen’s “Atlantis”: The Next Level For a Band That is Already Next Level. And to back up this daring statement, I’d recommend watching any of the latest videos posted on Soen’s various social media accounts from their recent Latin American stint. What you will most likely notice is a band that is more confident on stage than ever before, near-flawlessly performing in venues packed with people who genuinely live and breathe their music and lyrics.

This success is further proof that Soen has long ceased being legendary Martín López’s latest band, but has become a standalone project in which every single member is a musical force in their own right. And this too is by design, since each one of them has been carefully chosen to round up a project that is impeccably polished, wonderfully unique and constantly evolving.

“Atlantis” very much feels like the next step in this evolution and, after listening to the album, one might argue that it’s a very appropriate one. Because hearing Soen’s most powerful songs in this regal orchestral context gives you the sense that they have always been meant to play at this level and could very well continue to do so if they chose to.

Soen’s music is highly complex, both instrumentally and lyrically. Every single track is polished to perfection; every guitar riff and solo, every bass line and drum track thought out in the most minute detail. Layered upon this are strong, emotive vocal lines that give brutally honest accounts of the world we inhabit, with all of its cruelty and unfairness, but also impart hopeful musings over the power of resilience and unity against ever-increasing adversity. Soen speaks to the outcasts, the unsung heroes, to those who simply do not fit. And, if there was an anthem to be discovered among the band’s songs, I believe it would be ‘Lotus’.

“Atlantis” takes all of this and strips away the heavy overtones to reveal the deeper, emotionally and compositionally softer meanings underneath. The new orchestral arrangement and the vulnerability of the live performance itself paint songs that are well-known and loved into often entirely different colors. Intricate guitar solos are doubled by forceful piano passages that at times have an almost jazzy quality, thundering drum solos are enhanced by tempestuous string arrangements, while Joel Ekelöf’s deep, velvety voice shines in a new light. As in most live performances, he allows his natural vibrato to come through a lot more, which adds more depth and realness to his emotive delivery, complete with delicate falsetto passages and flourishes. The backing vocals and the violins, which on certain tracks almost sound like an extra vocal layer, help to bring all of these qualities out even more. In describing this, my mind actually travels to a lyrical passage from ‘Monarch’: “thundering choirs fill the air with cries.”

The album is almost entirely made up of existing Soen songs, one might say some of their most iconic: ‘Savia’ (“Cognitive”), which could be considered a common ground favorite for fans of the band’s original sound and fans of its current, post-“Lykaia” sound alike; ‘Jinn’ and ‘Lucidity’ (“Lykaia”); ‘Lotus’, ‘Lunacy’, ‘River’ and ‘Lascivious’ (“Lotus”); ‘Antagonist’, ‘Illusion’, ‘Monarch’, ‘Modesty’ and ‘Fortune’ (“Imperial”). Perhaps unsurprisingly, most of the songs chosen for this live recorded performance are from “Lotus” and “Imperial”, the albums that mark Soen’s evolution into its own unique sound.

The only new additions are the original song ‘Trials’, a hauntingly beautiful cry of despair within a broken world, and a masterful cover of Slipknot’s already epic ‘Snuff’. It’s not often that I find myself unable to decide whether I prefer the original or the cover version of a song, but I can honestly say Soen has put me in this situation with their brilliant rendition of ‘Snuff’. The raw emotional tumult of the song is a perfect fit for everything Soen stands for stylistically.

To conclude, “Atlantis” is a decidedly next level stage for a band that has already been evolving at a constant, maybe even rapid pace with every new release. An absolute must-listen, in my opinion, as it gives insight into everything Soen stands for – both musically and thematically – from a completely fresh angle. One that gives a majestic touch to an already highly perfected sound. And, if you can catch them live on this tour, I would highly recommend you take the opportunity.

KRZYKOGNIA {from the Polish meaning "Scream of Fire"} marked the fulfillment of Jarboe's longtime desire to sing solo in Eastern Europe, having toured in the region with Swans during the cold-war era. Performed at the St. John's Church in Gdansk [Danzig], Poland with Victor and the Italian band Larsen, the concert includes material from her solo projects as well as songs written for Swans.

The deconsecrated 14th century church served up the perfect backdrop and audio environment for the show, bringing to the evening's music an otherworldly echo and ambiance.

Widząc kolejne wydawnictwo koncertowe projektu Ayreon, pomyślałem, że w ostatnich latach ukazuje się ich naprawdę sporo. Przez wiele lat był to przecież projekt wyłącznie studyjny, a dziś doczekaliśmy się już kilku wydawnictw live.

Warto przypomnieć, że na przestrzeni ostatnich dziesięciu lat otrzymaliśmy kolejno: „The Theater Equation” (2016), będący sceniczną adaptacją albumu „The Human Equation” nagraną z okazji 10. rocznicy jego premiery. Następnie ukazał się „Ayreon Universe – Best Of Ayreon Live” (2018) – klasyczny koncert typu „best of” obejmujący 28 utworów z różnych albumów Ayreon. Kolejnym wydawnictwem było „Electric Castle Live And Other Tales” (2020) zarejestrowane z okazji 20-lecia albumu „Into the Electric Castle”. Ostatnim z tej serii był „01011001 – Live Beneath the Waves” (2024), upamiętniający 15. rocznicę wydania albumu „01011001”.

Ponieważ cenię praktycznie wszystko, co wychodzi spod ręki Arjena Anthony'ego Lucassena, z dużą ciekawością sięgnąłem również po najnowsze wydawnictwo koncertowe zatytułowane „30th Anniversary – An Amazing Flight Through Time”, które ukazało się w maju 2026 roku.

Tym razem seria koncertów odbyła się w dniach: 12-14 września 2025 roku w holenderskim Tilburgu. Arjen przygotował przekrojowy koncert obejmujący trzydzieści lat historii projektu z utworami od „The Final Experiment” (1995) aż po „The Source” (2017). W repertuarze znalazły się zarówno największe klasyki, jak i utwory, które nigdy wcześniej nie były wykonywane na żywo, szczególnie te pochodzące z początkowego okresu działalności Ayreon.

Już po pierwszym odsłuchu byłem bardzo pozytywnie zaskoczony. Tego materiału słucha się znakomicie i właściwie o każdym utworze można byłoby napisać osobny rozdział. Oczywiście skupię się jedynie na kilku wybranych kompozycjach, ale o nich nieco później. Najpierw chciałbym opisać wydawnictwo od strony dźwiękowej i wizualnej, tym bardziej że ukazało się ono w wielu formatach: Blu-ray, DVD, CD oraz LP.

Na szczególne uznanie zasługuje lista zaproszonych wokalistów. Arjen po raz kolejny udowodnił, że potrafi zgromadzić na jednej scenie absolutną czołówkę światowego rocka progresywnego. W kolejności pojawiania się na scenie byli to:

Dwunastu wokalistów robi ogromne wrażenie. Już sam skład pokazuje z jak różnorodnymi barwami głosu mamy do czynienia. Najczęściej na scenie pojawiały się Marcela Bovio oraz Irene Jansen, wspierając pozostałych artystów zarówno w partiach drugiego głosu i chórach, jak i we fragmentach o charakterze operowym.

Arjen Anthony Lucassen ograniczył się tym razem wyłącznie do roli wokalisty. Trzeba jednak przyznać, że śpiewa bardzo pewnie i czysto, a przy tym nieustannie utrzymuje świetny kontakt z publicznością. Często zachęcał fanów do wspólnej zabawy prostymi gestami, machając ręką i mobilizując widownię do wspólnego śpiewania. Zostało to przyjęte niezwykle entuzjastycznie i stworzyło fantastyczną atmosferę.

Jeżeli miałbym natomiast wskazać najbardziej charakterystyczny, drapieżny i najmocniejszy głos tego koncertu, bez wahania postawiłbym na Damiana Wilsona.

Na równie wysokie uznanie zasługują muzycy, którzy towarzyszyli wokalistom. To właśnie oni stworzyli fundament całego widowiska, dbając o wierne odtworzenie studyjnych aranżacji, a jednocześnie nadając im koncertową energię.

Skład instrumentalny prezentował się następująco:

Joost van den Broek - instrumenty klawiszowe

Ed Warby - perkusja

Ben Mathot - skrzypce

Każdy z muzyków dawał z siebie wszystko, dzięki czemu trudno wskazać na tym wydawnictwie choćby jeden słabszy moment. W wielu utworach instrumentalistom udzielała się również atmosfera panująca na widowni – często zachęcali publiczność do wspólnej zabawy okrzykami „Hey! Hey! Hey!”, unosząc przy tym ręce. Trzeba przyznać, że taki widok, gdy kilka tysięcy osób reaguje jednocześnie, potrafi wywołać autentyczne ciarki.

Spośród wszystkich kompozycji chciałbym wyróżnić kilka, które zrobiły na mnie największe wrażenie. „Valley of the Queens” to uczta dla miłośników pięknych kobiecych głosów. Marcela Bovio, Anneke van Giersbergen oraz Heather Findlay stworzyły niezwykle harmonijny tercet. Ich głosy idealnie się uzupełniają, a synchronizacja i płynność przechodzenia między partiami robią ogromne wrażenie.

„Loser” okazał się jednym z najbardziej emocjonujących momentów koncertu. Publiczność śpiewa ten utwór w większości sama, tworząc niesamowitą atmosferę. Nie bez powodu właśnie ta kompozycja została wybrana jako singiel promujący wydawnictwo i trafiła do serwisów streamingowych na długo przed premierą albumu.

„The Castle Hall” zyskał zupełnie nowe życie. W porównaniu z wersją studyjną utwór brzmi zdecydowanie bardziej energetycznie, a Robert Soeterboek prezentuje w nim znakomitą formę wokalną. To jedna z tych kompozycji, które na żywo wypadają nawet lepiej niż na płycie.

Ogromne wrażenie zrobił na mnie również „Amazing Flight In Space”. To prawdziwy popis instrumentalistów, przede wszystkim efektowny pojedynek gitary z instrumentami klawiszowymi.

Album zamyka „Isolation” wykonany wspólnie przez wszystkich uczestników koncertu. To niezwykle symboliczne zakończenie tego jubileuszowego widowiska – pełne emocji, wzajemnej radości i poczucia, że wszyscy artyści tworzyli tego wieczoru jedną muzyczną rodzinę.

Jeśli miałbym wskazać element, który najmniej przypadł mi do gustu, byłyby to krótkie wstawki z kobiecym Avatarem zapowiadającym kolejne części widowiska („Dream Sequencer 1, 2 i 3”). To oczywiście wyłącznie moje subiektywne odczucie – nigdy nie byłem zwolennikiem tego typu przerywników.

Zdecydowanie więcej jest jednak powodów do zachwytu. Największym z nich pozostaje sama publiczność. Uśmiechnięta, zaangażowana, rozśpiewana i autentycznie oczarowana całym przedsięwzięciem. Energia płynąca zarówno ze sceny, jak i z widowni sprawia, że nawet podczas oglądania materiału na ekranie można poczuć atmosferę tego wyjątkowego wydarzenia.

Pod koniec koncertu otrzymujemy jeszcze ponad szesnastominutowe przemówienie Arjena. To niezwykle osobisty i pełen emocji moment, który doskonale podsumowuje całe wydarzenie.

Arjen rozpoczyna od serdecznych podziękowań dla publiczności, podkreślając, że do Tilburga przyjechali fani aż z 71 krajów świata. Przyznaje, że długo zastanawiał się, czy organizacja kolejnego koncertowego przedsięwzięcia ma sens, jednak reakcja publiczności utwierdziła go w przekonaniu, że była to właściwa decyzja. Z dużą dawką humoru wspomina początki projektu Ayreon, opowiada o trzydziestu latach jego istnienia, a jednocześnie z pewnym dystansem mówi o upływie czasu i nieuchronnym starzeniu się.

Szczególnie poruszający jest moment, w którym wspomina Edwarda Reekersa. Wokalista, z powodu ciężkiej choroby, nie mógł już wystąpić podczas jubileuszowych koncertów. Jak dziś wiemy, zmarł niespełna miesiąc później.

Następnie Arjen dziękuje wszystkim muzykom, wokalistom oraz ekipie technicznej odpowiedzialnej za przygotowanie widowiska. Szczególne słowa uznania kieruje do dwóch osób:

swojej partnerki Lori, odpowiedzialnej za przygotowanie wizualizacji i oprawy multimedialnej koncertu, Joosta van den Broeka, który odpowiadał za realizację całego przedsięwzięcia oraz że potrafił wcielać w życie nawet najbardziej szalone pomysły.

Po chwili głos zabiera również Joost. Dołącza do podziękowań, ale przede wszystkim zwraca uwagę na ogromny dorobek muzyczny Lucassena. Podkreśla, że przez trzydzieści lat stworzył ponad 34 godziny muzyki, która poruszyła tysiące fanów na całym świecie.

Joost wspomina, że swoją współpracę z Arjenem rozpoczął jako osiemnastoletni muzyk. To właśnie Lucassen dał mu pierwszą wielką szansę, dzięki której mógł rozwinąć karierę. Z wyraźnym wzruszeniem przyznaje, że do dziś pozostaje za to ogromnie wdzięczny.

“30th Anniversary – An Amazing Flight Through Time” to nie tylko zapis koncertu. To przede wszystkim muzyczne święto i piękne podsumowanie trzydziestu lat działalności jednego z najbardziej oryginalnych projektów w historii rocka progresywnego.

Oglądając i słuchając ten koncert, trudno oprzeć się myśli, jak wspaniale byłoby uczestniczyć w nim osobiście. Co kilka minut na scenie pojawia się kolejny wybitny artysta, reprezentujący światową czołówkę z kręgu progresywnego rocka. Każdy wnosi własną osobowość, dzięki czemu widowisko ani przez chwilę nie traci tempa.

Dla wieloletnich fanów Ayreon jest to sentymentalna podróż przez trzy dekady twórczości Arjena Anthony'ego Lucassena. Dla osób dopiero rozpoczynających przygodę z jego muzyką – doskonały punkt wyjścia do poznania bogatego i niezwykle różnorodnego świata Ayreon.

In September 2025, Tilburg in the Netherlands was once again transformed into Ayreon City, as six spectacular shows took over the 013 venue — or what is fast becoming known as “Home” by Ayreonauts around the world.

All 15,000 tickets were snapped up within minutes, with fans traveling from an astonishing 71 countries to witness the latest Ayreon live experience: the 30th Anniversary – An Amazing Flight Through Time. This will now be released on 22 May via Music Theories Recordings/ Artone.

The setlist spanned three decades of Ayreon history—from beloved fan favorites to songs never performed live before, with highlights from Arjen Lucassen’s many side projects woven seamlessly into the experience.
