Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii – zarejestrowany w październiku 1971 roku film, zawierający koncert grupy Pink Floyd, zrealizowany w amfiteatrze w Pompejach. Jego specyfiką jest to, iż koncert odbył się bez udziału publiczności. Zapis nie odzwierciedla dokładnie pompejańskiego widowiska, ale jest wyreżyserowanym spektaklem. Część ścieżki dźwiękowej poprawiono w studiu.

Hailing from Cincinnati, Ohio, NOGOTHULA formed in 2021 originally as a trio, including vocalist / guitarist Colton Deem of the mighty VALDRIN and vocalist / bassist Eric Payne of regional heroes Verment. Alex Hooper rounded out the band on drums, and together they released the Gore Vortex Ascension demo a year later. The title itself gave more than a small indication of the sci-leanings the band would soon explore across their surging & slamming style of death metal. Guitarist Nick Moeller would later join, and as a quartet, NOGOTHULA would record their debut album, Telluric Sepsis.

Released digitally in April 2024, Telluric Sepsis now sees a physical release courtesy of BLOOD HARVEST. And for good reason: sharper, strangely concise, and yet also more mind-bending, Telluric Sepsis is prime progressive-leaning death metal that never loses sight of the original essence of DEATH METAL. References are many - early 2000s Decapitated, Pierced From Within-era Suffocation, pre-Obscura Gorguts, late '90s Cryptopsy - but NOGOTHULA possess an elusive nous that minces and mangles those sturdy signposts in a manner that's familiar and foreign in equal measure. While the sci-fi element isn't as pronounced as, say, Nocturnus' first couple albums, there's nevertheless an undercurrent of "supernatural spaciness" to the overall atmosphere of Telluric Sepsis - part production, perhaps, or part songwriting itself. For the latter, the songwriting found within the nine-song / 43-minute album slices & sluices with deadly precision, keeping momentum always moving forward but equally unsettling the listener; linear trajectories are to be found here, but the sum effect is swarming and cyclonic. And even amidst the brutal breakdowns, the razor-wire riffing runs riot across Telluric Sepsis, peppered with fleeting-yet-furious leads while Deem and Payne's dual vocals make that swarming / cyclonic effect hit that much harder. Feel the lacerating vibrations of NOGOTHULA and behold their labyrinthian sunken spires!

The legendary CANADIAN thrash commandment strikes back with a real great Album. This one is made for fans of SACRIFICE, SLAUGHTER, HOBBS ANGEL OF DEATH



Well, I have to admit I did have a good time listening to the guys’ debut feature as they had the uncanny ability to produce songs that differed from the others provided on the same album, to the point that at some stage the listener would have problems putting a definite label on the music at play. The most accurate label, however, would still remain the more welcoming thrash/crossover one with a goofy, humorous attitude applied to the song-writing process that will remind of the guys’ colleagues operating south of the border like Ludichrist and Leeway.

Cool trippy stuff which didn’t enjoy a sequel as the band folded after the release of a self-titled demo in 1991. Honestly, and probably a bit shamefully as well, it did take me a few seconds (10/15) to recall these lads once I saw the album reviewed here as I don’t really own their debut (I borrowed it from someone); but a total recall inevitably occurred not without the help of this decent reunion slab which brings the classic thrash/crossover shenanigans of old with the uplifting “Govern Me”, and especially with the wild hardcore-ish “Narrow Minded” the less bridled vigour of these cuts leading the show all the way to the end, leaving some room for the heavy semi-technical mid-pacer “Dark Star” to sneak in, with the nervy steam-roller “Over Myself” another deviation from the uncompromising formula. The rest is one monolithic, seldom interrupted mosh party that also shows its more intriguing, more melodic side on “Anatomy Is Dead Sickness”.

Although the vocalist is a major change from the debut with his overshouty, overtly hysterical performance music-wise this effort isn’t a very radical departure from what the guys offered some 25 years prior. The sense of humour is not as expressively applied as the band’s intention now is to generate as much intensity as possible from their simplistic template which again sides with hardcore and even punk more than before. As a reformation stunt it works well, even more so in consideration of the still valid old school resurrection movement, and although it would hardly make the band the new champions of Canadian metal any time soon, it can by all means be used as a hate-generator for marching troops around the world.
