W pierwszej chwili, kiedy spojrzałem na okładkę debiutanckiego krążka Putridarium, to pomyślałem o „Holocausto de la Muerte”. Nie sądzicie, że koncept graficzny podobny? Bo według mnie niemal bliźniaczo. A ja sobie ekipę Killjoy’a mocno cenię. Ale nie dlatego sprawdziłem pierwszy pełnometrażowy wykwit Niemców. Uczyniłem to pod wpływem zachwytu nad drugim albumem Nekus, którego to skład mocno pokrywa się także z Putrudarium. Muzyka obu tych projektów różni się jednak diametralnie, choć, co muszę od razu zaznaczyć, stoi na równie wysokim poziomie. Na rzeczonym albumie mamy przyjemność taplać się w czterdziestu minutach staroszkolnego bo bólu death metalu. Death metalu zainfekowanego zarówno zamorskim, co i, przede wszystkim, europejskim stylem. Zaznaczyć należy, że w nagraniach tych nie znajdziecie ani cząstki czegokolwiek odkrywczego czy wykraczającego poza ramy gatunku. Jednocześnie, i to jest chyba najważniejsze i stanowiące najsilniejszy plus twórczości Putridarium, nie da się tych kompozycji przyrównać bezpośrednio do jednego źródła. Oczywiście, z drugiej strony, da się wypunktować od cholery nazw, które to zapewne chłopaków do stworzenia tej płyty zainspirowały. Rzecz jednak w tym, że ich mieszanka Skandynawii i Tampy z zachodnią Europą jest tak niesamowicie przemyślana, naszpikowana znakomitymi riffami, a przede wszystkim posklejana na wzór własny, że u każdego maniaka śmierć metalu z lat dziewięćdziesiątych musowo wywoła banana na twarzy. W zasadzie na „Necrologia del Sadismo…” znajdziemy wszystko, czego duszy potrzeba. Są szybkie fragmenty, przy których dynia buja się sama, są ciężkie zwolnienia, chwilami mocno dryfujące w rejony doomowe, jest sporo melodii i ciężaru. Jest nawet trochę kabaretowo – kosmiczny przerywnik w postaci ”Ossario Nelle Grida”, wrzucony na płytę chyba dla jaj. No i dobrze, bo i w death metalu jest miejsce i przestrzeń dla lekkiego rozluźnienia. Reasumując jednak… Putridarium nagrali sobie piosenki, bez najmniejszej spiny, nawiązując do klasyków, przetwarzając ich nauki na modłę własną. Wyszło im to wyśmienicie, dzięki czemu możemy delektować się albumem do wielokrotnego odsłuchu, zapewniającym wszystko, czego deathmetalowej duszy potrzeba. I w zasadzie chyba nic więcej dodawać nie muszę.

The most disgustingly anticipated debut full-length of the year: PUTRIDARIUM “Necrologia Del Sadismo: Excerpts From A Deranged Mind”. The 4 maniacs are finally back with 10 new tracks of Horror-filled Death-Doom: Mutilation, Necrophilia, Gore. Prepare to Lose Your Mind.



At first, when I looked at the cover of Putridarium's debut album, I thought of “Holocausto de la Muerte.” Don't you think the graphic concept is similar? Because in my opinion, almost twinned. And I hold Killjoy's crew in high regard. But that's not why I checked out the first full-length efflorescence of the Germans. I did so under the influence of admiration for the second album by Nekus, whose lineup strongly overlaps with Putrudarium. However, the music of the two projects differs dramatically, although, I must immediately point out, it stands at an equally high level. On the album in question we have the pleasure of wallowing in forty minutes of old-school death metal. Death metal infected with both overseas and, above all, European style. It should be noted that in these recordings you won’t find a trace of anything revealing or outside the genre. At the same time, and this is probably the most important and constitutes the strongest plus of Putridarium's work, it is impossible to compare these compositions directly to a single source of inspiration. Of course, on the other hand, it is possible to point out a hell of a lot of names that probably inspired the guys to compose this album. The point is, however, that their blend of Scandinavia and Tampa with Western Europe is so incredibly well thought out, steeped in superb riffs and, above all, cobbled together in their own way, that will surely bring a banana to the face of any nineties death metal maniac. In fact, on “Necrologia del Sadismo...” you will find everything the soul needs. There are fast perts at which head bangs itself, there are heavy slowdowns, at times drifting directly into doom metal regions, there is a lot of melody and heaviness. There's even a bit of a cabaret-esque cosmic interlude in the form of “Ossario Nelle Grida,” thrown onto the album probably for a lark. Well, and that's a good thing, too, because there's room and space for a little fun in death metal too. To sum up... Putridarium recorded songs for themselves, lightened up, referring directly to the classics, but processing their teachings in their own fashion. This worked out splendidly, so that we can savor an album for repeated listening, providing everything a deathmetal head needs. And in fact, I don't think I need to add anything more.

ASSORTED HEAP to kultowy death/thrashmetalowy zespół z Niemiec istniejący w latach 1987-1992.



This band started like almost every other practitioner from the 80’s German speed/thrash roster, with energetic simplistic barrage in their case reminiscent of early Kreator, Necronomicon and Toxik Shock, and this is exactly what their debut demo contained, with a few more intriguing touches timidly suggesting at more proficient things to come.

By the time the album reviewed here appeared the guys had also developed an interest in the more brutal, death metal ways of execution, and had implemented them into their hyper-active, blitzkrieg thrash template. The resultant blend is one of the finest thrash/death metal hybrids to ever come out of Germany, a smattering heap of intense stylish rifforamas which supply never stops until the last note. The showdown begins with “Unexplained Bloodshed” which gradually builds up momentum with heavy pounding riffs before all fury gets unleashed, the hellish shouty death metal vocals ala Martin Van Drunen (Pestilence, Asphyx, Bolt Thrower) trying to keep pace with the super-speedy crescendos which are graced by episodic more melodic nuances those nice reminders of the fretwork of none other than Patrick Mameli (Pestilence again) as at this early stage the delivery is quite reminiscent of the one of “Testimony of the Ancients”, only not as highly-stylized and more speed-prone.

The title-track increases the technicality with intricate riff-knots rising out of nowhere, with the bass burping with authority underneath them, the fast-paced vortexes stirred not far from those on Invocator’s “Excursion Demise” which is another very close soundalike elsewhere, too. “Remembrance of Tomorrow” carries on with the aggressive “carnage”, the guys moshing with a lot of vigour, without too many technical embellishments this time, a direct maddening headbanger; and “In Vain” is a short, but needed respite being a quiet balladic instrumental. The show must go on, though, and “Sold Our Souls” ensures that it does with more complex arrangements which come for the sake of the wayward speedy strokes, but rest assured that those will be served as well their stride more frequently interrupted by both lyrical and heavy stomping breaks; watch out for the supreme melodic accumulations in the second half those also featured prominently on Pestilence’s same year’s magnum opus.

“Trick to Your Mind” tries to “trick” the listener with a portion of laid-back stomps at first, but it’s business as usual later on with technical and speedy riffs interlacing, this symbiosis coming with a nice melodic flavour again interrupted by episodic balladic etudes and more regular heavier walkabouts. “Terrorized Grains” is a superb frenetic shredder racing with the speed of light initially, combining the chaotic aggression of Hellwitch’s debut with the volcanic intensity of Sepultura’s “Beneath the Remains” for a really violent roller-coaster ride that receives a nice doomy comeuppance as a finale. “Grave New World” tries to match the previous number in terms of intensity, and succeeds on all counts the band determined to pummel the listener into oblivion as a finishing touch although more interesting configurations spring up later to give this exhausting brutalizer a less ordinary shade.

Compared to the other thrash/death metal behemoth from their homeland, Baphomet’s “No Asnwers” released the same year, this opus is not as exuberantly complex and technical as the band’s prime purpose is to keep the mosh going without too much ado, with the more elaborate variations taking care of themselves without being prematurely plotted. Consequently the music kind of flows more effortlessly here devoid of too many burdensome complications, also reminding of another German underground outfit from the 90’s, Wotan. The strives for a more intricate way of expression noticed were hard to define clearly: were they just occasional throw-ins with no intention of the side of the band to pursue such a trajectory; or were they deliberate hints at what might be served on a potential sequel…

The audience didn’t have to wait long in order to get the answer to those wonderings; the sophomore arrived just a year later, and must have been a big surprise to those who slept with the debut under their pillows. This is a dark progressive thrash “beast”, not much death metal left, with permeating gothic atmosphere that didn’t tolerate incessant speedy histrionics anymore. The latter were certainly given some space to satisfy the headbangers, but the concentration was strictly on more elaborate structures and more flexible riff layouts which admirably preserved the classic metal aura all over. Ambition was the name of the game on this second instalment, but it’s debatable whether the band increased their fanbase with this more diverse recording.

The guys split up mere months after that album’s release only to re-emerge five years later under the BK 49 moniker. Thrash/death was again the chosen stance, but not as hard-hitting, and with a humorous, less dark and less serious vibe. Two albums were released the second one a full-on death metal record seeing the guys moving up the aggression scale, a process left unfinished due to the band members’ parting of the ways again. One can’t tell how many more reunions there will be in the future, but the album reviewed here will most likely remain the band’s most horrifying, most nightmare-inducing “offspring”.

Consequently the music kind of flows more effortlessly here devoid of too many burdensome complications, also reminding of another German underground outfit from the 90’s, Wotan. The strives for a more intricate way of expression noticed were hard to define clearly: were they just occasional throw-ins with no intention of the side of the band to pursue such a trajectory; or were they deliberate hints at what might be served on a potential sequel…

The audience didn’t have to wait long in order to get the answer to those wonderings; the sophomore arrived just a year later, and must have been a big surprise to those who slept with the debut under their pillows. This is a dark progressive thrash “beast”, not much death metal left, with permeating gothic atmosphere that didn’t tolerate incessant speedy histrionics anymore. The latter were certainly given some space to satisfy the headbangers, but the concentration was strictly on more elaborate structures and more flexible riff layouts which admirably preserved the classic metal aura all over. Ambition was the name of the game on this second instalment, but it’s debatable whether the band increased their fanbase with this more diverse recording.

The guys split up mere months after that album’s release only to re-emerge five years later under the BK 49 moniker. Thrash/death was again the chosen stance, but not as hard-hitting, and with a humorous, less dark and less serious vibe. Two albums were released the second one a full-on death metal record seeing the guys moving up the aggression scale, a process left unfinished due to the band members’ parting of the ways again. One can’t tell how many more reunions there will be in the future, but the album reviewed here will most likely remain the band’s most horrifying, most nightmare-inducing “offspring”.

October 26, 2024 saw MOONSPELL performing their first-ever symphonic show, dubbed “Opus Diabolicum”, at the MEO Arena in Lisbon, Portugal’s capital city.

The band made history at this unforgettable live event, adding another magnificent chapter to both metal music made in Portugal and their very own legacy. Now, a year later, this monumental event can be yours to view anytime, available in DVD/Blu-ray, 2-CD, Black and Colored Vinyl and Digital formats via Napalm Records on October 31, 2025.

On Opus Diabolicum, the band revisits their classics and their bombastic album 1755 at a one-off, exclusive show and their biggest production to date. The heavy metallic power of the dark metal pioneers meets the classical magnitude of the 45-piece Lisbon Sinfonietta Orchestra – one of Portugal’s finest orchestras – conducted by maestro Vasco Pearce de Azevedo!

A new video clip for the MOONSPELL anthem, “Vampiria”, is premiering today below. Captured live at the “Opus Diabolicum” show, it’s a haunting tribute to the gothic roots of MOONSPELL, that now rises once more in full symphonic glory, unleashing dramatic orchestration and vampiric grandeur like never before!

Frontman Fernando Ribeiro comments:
“‘VAMPIRIA’ is a Moonspell classic, as old as time itself. It was a first choice for us because it’s actually one of the most remarkable arrangements of the whole show, which granted new blood and life (aren’t they the same?) to a timeless, eternal song. See it risen from the dead with your own eyes, after ‘travelling oceans of time’

“I have never been the one to push MOONSPELL into an orchestral direction“, Ribeiro admits.

“I mean, like any fan, I can recognise the impact Classical had over Heavy Metal (Quorthon, from Bathory, used to quote Wagner as his favourite “band”) and in my musical collection Mussorgsky, Prokofiev and Ravel, could be found, shoulder to shoulder with the aforementioned Bathory, Celtic Frost, Sarcófago or Maiden. But, I wasn’t a fan of the metal meets orchestra efforts myself and when I approached Jaime (Gomez Arellano) to mix this beast, I asked him: have you heard S&M and other “live with an orchestra” metal bands albums? We want nothing like that!

This is work of passion: truly the work of the devil (opus diabolicum): imperfect, unprocessed, untamed. A release made by friends to all the friends we have around this goth forsaken world and that in an arena in Lisbon or in a sweaty club in Texas, keep the spell going, until we are no more.”

Słychać także,że w stosunku do dwóch poprzednich płyt cofnięto nieco perkusję mocniej eksponując gitary. Zmiany te nie powodują jednak w żadnym wypadku zmiękczenia muzyki,ta cały czas jest wulgarna, brutalna, bezlitosna i krańcowo wściekła. Niewiele jest na świecie zespołów mogących dorównać Azarath pod względem zajadłości i blużnierczości oraz ilości jadu zawartego w tworzonej muzyce.

Wszyscy,którzy moczyli się słuchając „Demon Seed” i „Infernal Blasting” przy „D.I.E.” będą szczytować raz za razem,natomiast fani miętkiego pitolenia i damskich wokali lepiej niech sie nie zbliżają do tej płyty,gdyż rozpierdoli ich ona jak gnój po polu w 3 sekundy po nacisnięciu przycisku „Play”.

Here is your impiety, for sure. Azarath’s “Diabolic Impious Evil” is so neatly woven together with its sharpness, its brutal clarity, which is to speak nothing of the basically perfect mixing of the record, that one feels almost drawn inescapably to innumerable hells, each bickering to conform your lousy body into its own particular and malicious subject. “Whip the Whore” starts us off, a splurge of unremitting blasting and bestiality, urging Mary to “eat my cum,” as behind the vocals a network of haunting atmospherics travails: there is little mercy here.

The guitars do their fiendish fireworks of snappy tremolos, articulating between frantic passages of hard-faced death metal a la Morbid Angel, Behemoth, etc., as the drums roil on. A few breakdowns here and there are graciously introduced, but not enough to offset the gunfire extremities of the overall packaged sound. In every song, one cannot help to be preyed on by the murder this band has invented (expertly so).

While many other acts of this blackened-death nature seem to wear out three/four songs through, or the listener wears out, these songs presented herein are arranged intelligently enough so that there is little boredom to experience. It is a record to be played in its entirety and on repeat to a group of your closest friends. Or your most distant friends. It is bleak, dark, and, of course…diabolic, evil, and impious. I have not heard any other records prior to this one, so I will not claim that the band has blessed the genre with a sort of refreshment, but I won’t hesitate to say that at least on this record, you will not be left disappointed; left in the broadest axioms of darkness, for sure.

Everyone is familiar with drummer Inferno's insanely stylistic and brutal assault from his black drum throne. He almost single handedly helped usher in Behemoth's new technial death metal era when he join for Pandaemonic Incantations back at the turn of the new century. Since that time Behemoth has enjoyed immense popularity and fanfare as a result of their signing with Century Media and their extensive touring with major acts across the US and Canada.

All the while, however, drummer Inferno has been busy at work on another project. Something even more diabolical, more raw, more hateful. A band whose vociferous bile spews forth from their sound so readily as to make one believe that, in a former life, these guys may have been involved in the black metal scene.

With the demise of Decapitated (even before the bus accident- Organic Hallucinosis was closer to a Machine Head or Meshuggah release than it was to their previous work) and Yattering (whose former guitarist is now a member of Azarath) and Nergal's constant touring and whoring for the media, Azarath stand victorious at the top of the remaining true Brutal Death Metal acts in Poland.

Their previous releases, Demon Seed and Infernal Blasting, were both excercises in the fiercest brutality. Their new release, Diabolic Impious Evil is an step even further ahead and to the left, with the pure satanic rage taking control early in the album.

Tracks like Anti-Human, Anti-God remind listeners why Azarath is such a powerful act- fierce riffs, though catchy, grind your face into the pavement while Inferno's drumming has the power and precision of a guided missile, but even more fun. It's so fierce and fast, in fact, that at first listen one might mistake Azarath for a hypergrind band if you ignore the more complicated riffing and chord progressions.

For Satan My Blood, another of the stand out tracks on this album, clocks in at just under two minutes. These are some of the most intense two minutes in death metal, incredibly blast beats, face shredding riffs and an evil goat chant in the background that sounds like hell itself has been forced taint first through your speakers.

All in all, this is an absolutely soul crushing release, by far Azarath's most evil and impowering to date. Long live the new Kings of Polish Death.

Zespół konsekwentnie podąża ścieżką brutalnego,ohydnego,zdeprawowanego do granic satanic death metalu.

Elementy składowe układanki cały czas te same,jednak z płyty na płytę widoczne są postępy.

Igor Herbut - lider łemkowskiej ekipy z Przemkowa - tak przedstawiał ten album w czasie premiery:

„Kolędy i pastorałki to najpiękniejsze melodie tradycyjne, jakie istnieją. Ich ładunek emocjonalny, ich zdolność do przywoływania chwil i wspomnień, nie równa się żadnym innym pieśniom. Ich moc łączenia, tworzenia bliskości, otwartości - jest silniejsza od największej zimowej zamieci. Jeden z utworów specjalnie zaaranżowaliśmy w taki sposób, żeby słuchając go miało się wrażenie, że właśnie gromada kolędników weszła do domu, a chłopaki z zespołu zaśpiewali chóry! I to jak! Kiedy ludzkie głosy się splatają, zyskują niesamowitą moc.

Czerpaliśmy z wielu różnych tradycji z naszego kręgu kulturowego, sięgaliśmy po utwory z pogranicza kultur, wyrażające uniwersalne uczucia i emocje. Szczególnie w tym momencie dziejów musimy szukać tego, co nas łączy, a nie tego, co dzieli. Na naszej płycie znalazła się zarówno „Cicha noc” po polsku jak i jej wersja łemkowska „Tycha nicz”, bardzo zbliżona do wersji ukraińskiej, ale zupełnie inna w warstwie fonetycznej. Wystarczy ich posłuchać, żeby zrozumieć, że choć brzmią nieco inaczej, wyrażają tego samego ducha. Na płycie znalazł się także „Szczedryk”, który na Zachodzie znany jest jako „Carol of the Bells” i kojarzony jest głównie z jedną ze scen w filmie „Kevin sam w domu”. A przecież to tradycyjna ukraińska kompozycja - i na płycie nawiązujemy właśnie do niej. Opracowaliśmy także przepiękny, rozdzierający, a może nawet pozornie nieco mroczny, utwór po białorusku.

Oczywiście sięgnęliśmy też do naszych najukochańszych polskich kolęd, ale w nich też staraliśmy się odkryć coś nowego. W warstwie aranżacyjnej - poszukiwaliśmy w kolędach duchowości, spokoju, ciepła. Próżno szukać na tej płycie saneczek i dzwoneczków z komputera. Również nasze cztery własne kompozycje na tej płycie (mroźna i przeszywająca „Etiuda zimowa”, minimalistyczne „Do świąt”, bitelsowski „Grudniowy” i delikatny „płatek”) są bardzo skromne i proste. Nie ma na tej płycie kiczu i komercji. Jest wewnętrzna siła i głęboka wiara w to, że nasze wartości kulturowe są tak silne, że przetrwają wszystkie zawieruchy.

I jak to z LemON, powstała bardzo osobista rzecz… i spełniło się jedno z moich marzeń… Album, który brzmi… jak zima…”.

10 wspaniałych kolęd. Pierwszy w karierze wokalistki album z repertuarem przeznaczonym na Święta Bożego Narodzenia. Premierowy nakład pojawił się w 2003 roku jako dodatek do dwutygodnika "Gala". Dwa lata później Agora dołączyła identyczny zestaw utworów do dziennika "Nowy Dzień". Nagrań dokonano w Mimofon Records między wrześniem a październikiem 2003. Album wyprodukowali: Mikołaj Wierusz oraz brat Justyny - Paweł.

Zestaw dziewięciu kolęd zaśpiewanych przez Justynę Steczkowską. Jest to drugi w karierze wokalistki album z repertuarem na Święta Bożego Narodzenia. Płytę w opakowaniu cardboard sleeve (kartoniku) dołączono w grudniu 2006 roku do dziesięciu lokalnych dzienników, promując w ten sposób regionalne media w całej Polsce. Krążek sprzedawano w kioskach i salonach prasowych. Album znalazł się m.in. w takich dziennikach jak: "Gazeta Lubuska", "Gazeta Pomorska", "Kurier Poranny" czy "Gazeta Współczesna".

Jest to gitarzysta, za którym stoi długa i poruszająca historia, gdyż w 1980 roku przeszedł ciężką operację usunięcia tętniaka mózgu, w wyniku której całkowicie stracił pamięć. Dzięki rodzinie i przyjaciołom pamięć częściowo wróciła, ale niestety nie w muzycznym obszarze. Po kilku latach braku zainteresowania muzyką, znów zaczął ćwiczyć grę na gitarze i w 1987 roku nagrał płytę „The Return”. Od tej pory zaczął podbijać serca publiczności. Występ gitarzysty zapowiedział oczywiście Jan 'Ptaszyn’ Wróblewski, który m.in. przybliżył publiczności różnice między trio fortepianowym a trio organowym, które to miało się zaprezentować. Dodał też, że muzyka, jaką reprezentuje Pat Martino niestety odchodzi powoli w zapomnienie, dlatego trzeba korzystać z tej niepowtarzalnej okazji i wsłuchać się w nią podczas koncertu. Ptaszyn stwierdził także, że jeśli muzyka ta ma zniknąć z tego świata, to lepiej, żeby i jego zabrakło, gdyż nie chce doczekać takich dni.

Po takim wstępie, na scenie ukazała się postać siwego gitarzysty wraz z jego towarzyszami. Pat Bianchi usiadł przy organach Hammond B3, przy perkusji natomiast usadowił się Carmen Intorre. Koncert ten należał do tych spokojniejszych, które powoli wciągają i pozwalają odpłynąć zatapiając się w muzyce. Zewsząd otulały nas głębokie, zdecydowane dźwięki gitary, tak charakterystyczne dla Pata Martino. Były to ciepłe brzmienia, często spokojne i nastrojowe, choć nie brakło też bardziej żywiołowych popisów. Muzyk grał z elegancją, był w bardzo dobrej kondycji, co potwierdzała dokładność, szybkość i płynność jego gry. Gitarzysta zaprezentował głównie standardy, mniej natomiast było jego kompozycji. Nie było to dużym zaskoczeniem, gdyż Pat Martino często szuka w starych, znanych utworach czegoś nowego i aranżuje je na swój sposób. Doskonałym tego przykładem był zagrany na bis utwór „Sunny”, który napisał Bobby Hebb. Była to bardzo świeża, interesująca i przyjemna aranżacja. Poza tym usłyszeliśmy także „Impressions” Johna Coltrane’a, „Seven Come Eleven” Charlie Christiana i Benny Goodmana i wiele, wiele innych standardów. Pozostali muzycy doskonale wpisywali się w styl gry lidera. Zwłaszcza Pat Bianchi wiele razy miał okazję, by się wykazać. Grał z ogromnym zaangażowaniem, chwilami nawet jakby w ekstazie. Pokazał dużo ciekawych, melodyjnych solówek, a całość jego gry doskonale korespondowała z grą gitarzysty. Trzeba przyznać, że Pat Martino to weteran gitary jazzowej, który jak nikt inny potrafi poprowadzić trio organowe, co nie jest łatwą sztuką.

To był dobry koncert.
