Dwóch mężczyzn, jeden plan: W 2003 roku Randy Brecker i Bill Evans wpadli na pomysł, który do dziś ich inspiruje i napędza. Założyli zespół, który czerpie z szerokiej gamy inspiracji i co roku zmienia skład.

Trębacz i sześciokrotny zdobywca nagrody Grammy Randy Brecker oraz saksofonista Bill Evans cieszyli się już zróżnicowaną i satysfakcjonującą karierą, gdy połączyli siły na początku XXI wieku. Gra Randy'ego Breckera uświetniła albumy m.in. Franka Sinatry, Bruce'a Springsteena i Franka Zappy; odnosił również sukcesy z Brecker Brothers, jednym z najbardziej wpływowych współczesnych zespołów jazzowych. Bill Evans był side-manem Milesa Davisa na początku lat 80. i grał na saksofonie z takimi artystami jak Mick Jagger, Herbie Hancock i Lee Ritenour.

Trębacza Breckera i saksofonistę Evansa łączy w całej ich działalności chęć przełamywania granic gatunkowych i prezentowania swojej muzyki na scenie jako otwartego i stale ewoluującego systemu. I właśnie to robią od ponad dwóch dekad.

W ramach zmieniającego się składu muzycznego i w kontekście Soulbop XL – zespołu, którego brzmienie czerpie z jazzu, soulu, funku, rocka i muzyki amerykańskiej – do Soulbop XL dołączył jako gość specjalny na Leverkusen Jazz Days 2018 angielski perkusista Simon Phillips, który grał z tak różnymi artystami, jak France Gall, The Who i Judas Priest.

Ten nagrany w 1975 roku, jedyny album zapomnianej brytyjskiej grupy, bez wątpienia należy, obok LP Refugee i debiutu Druid, do 3-4 najlepszych progresywnych płyt z Wysp z połowy lat 70-tych! Zainspirowany przede wszystkim twórczością wczesnych Genesis, a poza tym Camel, Fruupp i Yes, ten bardzo utalentowany zespół brzmiał bardziej jak w 1973 niż w 1975.

Na uwagę zasługują przede wszystkim majestatyczne, rozbudowane, epickie formy, ale też chwytliwa, nieco beatlesowska melodyka (a także nawiązania do muzyki pop), a także perfekcyjna, bardzo bogata produkcja. Niektóre fragmenty brzmią tak dobrze, że aż trudno w to uwierzyć!

Żaden miłośnik progresywnych brzmień nie może przejść obok tego CD obojętnie! Ta edycja brzmi doskonale i bardzo przestrzennie.

Gdybym prowadził tu jeszcze jakiś cykl, to ten album musiałbym umieścić w szufladzie Ocalić Od Zapomnienia. Bo rzeczywiście to chyba kompletnie nieznany zespół (przynajmniej w naszym kraju). Powstał z Wielkiej Brytanii i niestety istniał bardzo krótko, a w swojej karierze wydał tylko ten jeden album. Sam wiele lat temu natknąłem się na Strange Days przez przypadek, buszując w jakimś sklepie w winylami. Po latach dokupiłem kompakt, który jak się okazało...

...jest po prostu piratem. To jedna z tych szwedzkich firm, która przywraca do życia zapomniane albumy, jednocześnie nie posiadając praw do tego. Przynajmniej tak wykalkulowałem przeglądając nieskończoność Internetu. Szkoda tylko, że niektóre sklepy reklamują te wydawnictwa jako oryginalne i pełnowartościowe. Co robić.

Podobno grupa miała swoje pięć minut w kręgach studenckich, tak w Anglii, ale i w Holandii. Właściwie niewiele wiem na temat historii tego zespołu, ich powstania czy przyczyn rozwiązania. Ale chyba nie zawsze jest to takie ważne, przecież to muzyka ma być najważniejsza. Zaznaczę tylko, że w nagraniu tego krążka brali udział Graham Ward (śpiew, gitara), Eddie McNeil (perkusja), Eddie Spence (instrumenty klawiszowe) oraz Phil Walman (gitara basowa).

Na płycie znalazło się sześć utworów z czego najkrótszy trwa nieco ponad cztery minuty, a najdłuższy niemal osiem i pół. Całość ich muzyki opiera się na organowo-gitarowym graniu, które wyraźnie wybija się na pierwszy plan.
Całość otwiera utwór tytułowy. To bardzo sympatyczny, melodyjny utwór utrzymany raczej w popowych klimatach. Noga chodzi, basik pulsuje, plus nie najgorszy wokal i bardzo ładny fortepian. Sympatycznie.

W kolejnym Be Nice To Joe Soap jest już bardziej progresywnie. Świetny wstęp zagrany na organach, do których dołącza gitara z perkusją. Później ta gitara Warda całkiem nieźle sobie poczyna i rządzi przez ponad dwie minuty. Następnie pałeczkę przejmują klawisze. Pierwszy wokal pojawia się dopiero w okolicach czwartej minuty. Wtedy utwór robi się skoczny i pogodny. Całość? Zmiany tempa i nastrojów.

Oryginalnie stronę pierwszą zamykał The Journey. Dziesięciominutowy, który jako żywo kojarzy mi się z dokonaniami grupy Supertramp. Naprawdę bardzo podobny i ktoś mniej osłuchany z pewnością mógłby się nabrać, że to jeden z nieodkrytych utworów Hodgsona.

Druga strona to także trzy pozycje. Szybki, żywiołowy Monday Morning z organowym wstępem i ciekawym gitarowym solo. Fajne, chwilowe zwolnienie po minucie.

Dwa ostatnie utwory są chyba najbardziej wartościowe na całej płycie.
A Unanimous Decision, który pomalutku się rozpędza. Dobre i ciekawe zmiany tempa, sporo organowego grania. Balladowe klimaty przeplatają się z szybszymi, ostrzejszymi fragmentami, w których gitara pokazuje na co ją stać. Bardzo ciekawy progresywny kawałek.

Całość zamyka 18 Tons. Tu budowa jest podobna i dobrze znana z wcześniejszych utworów. Organowy (tu bardzo delikatny) wstęp i taki sam śpiew. Po nieco dwóch minutach ten spokojny głos przechodzi niemal w krzyk, a cały utwór nabiera tempa. No i jest tu też znakomita solówka gitarowa, taka delikatnie w stylu Latimera.

Nie oszukujmy się, Strange Days to zespół jakich wtedy było wiele, a ich muzyka nie jest kamieniem milowym w historii muzyki i tak naprawdę niczym szczególnym się nie wyróżnia. To po prostu jedna z tych zapomnianych grup, grająca w stylu Genesis z początków ich kariery, ale przypominająca też wspomniany już Supertramp, troszkę Fruupp i może The Strawbs. I wielka szkoda, że skończyło się tylko na jednym albumie, bo potencjał był i mogło być z tego coś dobrego w przyszłości. Mimo wszystko warto posłuchać, przede wszystkim po to by takie zespoły ocalić od zapomnienia.

Japoński zespół The Mops jest pamiętany głównie ze względu na legendarny album "Psychedelic Sound In Japan" (1968), a także świetny utwór "I'm Just A Mops" - umieszczony na kapitalnym, czteropłytowym boksie "Nuggets II". Jednak fani ciężkiego grania muszą koniecznie zainteresować się trzecim w dyskografii LP, "Iijanaika" (maj 1971) - w 80% utrzymanym w heavyrockowej stylistyce znanej z kapitalnych płyt grup Blues Creation, Flower Travellin' Band, Speed Glue & Shinki i Strawberry Path.

Moim zdaniem pierwsze 30 sekund tego albumu to absolutny szczyt ciężkiego rocka z lat 70-tych i tak mogli zagrać wyłącznie Japończycy! Przyznam się, że te pierwsze dźwięki po prostu mnie zabiły! Na tej zaśpiewanej po angielsku płycie znalazły się również dwie krótkie ballady oraz jeden bluesowy żart, jednak pozostałe 30 minut czystego rocka powinno zadowolić nawet najbardziej wybrednych miłośników grania 'nie tylko anglosaskiego'.

The Mops are one of Japan's best know "group sounds" bands, particularly noted for their psychedelic period. The group was founded in 1966 by high school friends Mikiharu Suzuki (drums), Taro Miyuki (guitar), Masaru Hoshi (lead guitar) and Kaoru Murakami (bass), playing mostly instrumental rock ala the fabulously popular Ventures.

Suzuki's older brother Hiromitsu joined in later and became the group's main vocalist, sharing the job with Hoshi. The Mops started playing clubs and discos early on, but did not immediately distinguish themselves.

In the summer of 1967 their manager visited San Francisco, and was very excited about the hippie movement that was booming there. He brought a copy of a Jefferson Airplane album back with him to Japan, which he impressed the Mops with. The band became enthusiastic about the new sounds, and singer Hiromitsu Suzuki especially became a big fan of Animals singer Eric Burdon.

In what seems a fairly commercially driven decision, the Mops, prodded by their manager, became a "psychedelic band", and signed with JVC Records. In November 1967 they released "Asamade Matenai", which went to #38. The Mops album of April 1968 "Psychedelic Sound in Japan", was full of flower power flourishes, including cosmic artwork, ethnic clothing, fuzz guitars and sitar playing.

It included covers of the Airplane's hits "Someone To Love" and "White Rabbit", the Doors' "Light My Fire", the Animals' "San Franciscan Nights" and "Inside Looking Out", as well as the Mops theme song "I Am Just A Mops" (which later became a cult favorite after being included on the obscurities album Nuggets 2).

To complete the band's hippie vibe, at their album release party they passed out banana peels to journalists. Much was made of the band being Japan's first psychedelic band, and they are sometimes credited as pioneering new studio effects, or at least introducing them to Japan. The band also performed with lighting effects, and sometimes blindfolded, supposedly to simulate the influence of drugs.

Despite being widely considered a psychedelic band, their original songs were more garage band sounding. Also while most GS bands were playing love songs, the Mops had a song called "Blind Bird", which contained the lyrics "please kill me", which led to the song being left off some re-issues (but included on the obscurities collection Boulders #7).

In 1969 Murakami quit the band and Miyuki took over bass duties. After just one album with JVC, the group switched to Toshiba/EMI, where they changed their sound to more of a blues rock sound, it seems trying to change with the times.

While not as warmly recalled, the band did moderately well after their psychedelic period. Their biggest hit was in 1971, "Gekko Kamen (Moonlight Mask)", which they recorded as a joke, but which became a novelty hit. Their hard rock number "Goiken Muyo (No Excuse)" charted in 1971, and the following year they did well with "Tadoritsuitara Itsumo Amefuri", which was written for them by popular folk singer Takuro Yoshida.

Before finally breaking up in May 1974, the Mops released a total of eight albums on Toshiba/EMI, a long career compared to most of the GS bands. Hoshi continued in the music business as an arranger, and Hiromitsu Suzuki became a TV "talento". Mikiharu Suzuki today runs a major artist management company. The Mops, however remain best remembered for their landmark psychedelic first album.

Often overlooked, The Mops were a band that obviously emulated the U.S. hippie scene (Jefferson Airplane) as well as the UK heavy rock scene (Black Sabbath) but did it with their own charismatic personality.

At times acidic, epic and gritty; and at other times over the top with its campy heartwarming tenderness, Iijanaika was 3rd and heaviest album from 1971 where they turned more hard rock and less psychedelic. They still mix in bits of psych, prog, garage and their own weirdness, but the guitar sound is killer. It's more in the vein of Strawberry Path, Flower Travellin Band, Blues Creation and the like than their previous albums. 9 tracks.

In the summer of 1967 their manager visited San Francisco, and was very excited about the hippie movement that was booming there. He brought a copy of a Jefferson Airplane album back with him to Japan, which he impressed the Mops with. The band became enthusiastic about the new sounds, and singer Hiromitsu Suzuki especially became a big fan of Animals singer Eric Burdon.

In what seems a fairly commercially driven decision, the Mops, prodded by their manager, became a "psychedelic band", and signed with JVC Records. In November 1967 they released "Asamade Matenai", which went to #38. The Mops album of April 1968 "Psychedelic Sound in Japan", was full of flower power flourishes, including cosmic artwork, ethnic clothing, fuzz guitars and sitar playing.

It included covers of the Airplane's hits "Someone To Love" and "White Rabbit", the Doors' "Light My Fire", the Animals' "San Franciscan Nights" and "Inside Looking Out", as well as the Mops theme song "I Am Just A Mops" (which later became a cult favorite after being included on the obscurities album Nuggets 2).

To complete the band's hippie vibe, at their album release party they passed out banana peels to journalists. Much was made of the band being Japan's first psychedelic band, and they are sometimes credited as pioneering new studio effects, or at least introducing them to Japan. The band also performed with lighting effects, and sometimes blindfolded, supposedly to simulate the influence of drugs.

Despite being widely considered a psychedelic band, their original songs were more garage band sounding. Also while most GS bands were playing love songs, the Mops had a song called "Blind Bird", which contained the lyrics "please kill me", which led to the song being left off some re-issues (but included on the obscurities collection Boulders #7).

In 1969 Murakami quit the band and Miyuki took over bass duties. After just one album with JVC, the group switched to Toshiba/EMI, where they changed their sound to more of a blues rock sound, it seems trying to change with the times.

While not as warmly recalled, the band did moderately well after their psychedelic period. Their biggest hit was in 1971, "Gekko Kamen (Moonlight Mask)", which they recorded as a joke, but which became a novelty hit. Their hard rock number "Goiken Muyo (No Excuse)" charted in 1971, and the following year they did well with "Tadoritsuitara Itsumo Amefuri", which was written for them by popular folk singer Takuro Yoshida.

Before finally breaking up in May 1974, the Mops released a total of eight albums on Toshiba/EMI, a long career compared to most of the GS bands. Hoshi continued in the music business as an arranger, and Hiromitsu Suzuki became a TV "talento". Mikiharu Suzuki today runs a major artist management company. The Mops, however remain best remembered for their landmark psychedelic first album.

Often overlooked, The Mops were a band that obviously emulated the U.S. hippie scene (Jefferson Airplane) as well as the UK heavy rock scene (Black Sabbath) but did it with their own charismatic personality.

At times acidic, epic and gritty; and at other times over the top with its campy heartwarming tenderness, Iijanaika was 3rd and heaviest album from 1971 where they turned more hard rock and less psychedelic. They still mix in bits of psych, prog, garage and their own weirdness, but the guitar sound is killer. It's more in the vein of Strawberry Path, Flower Travellin Band, Blues Creation and the like than their previous albums. 9 tracks.

When they finally made it to the studio in 1969, their music was a long way from the highly-collectable mod pop of their two early singles, incorporating psych with an amateur proggishness, which remains very endearing, if not very well recorded.

Inverted Matter is a death metal entity born as an evolution of Inverted, a band born in 2007 in the upper Treviso area, in North-eastern Italy. At the end of 2015, parting ways with Alessandro and Enrico Scriminich (guitarist and drummer who went on to form black metal band Gorrch), former Suffocation drummer Mike Smith was recruited to write a new album. At the beginning of 2016 the lineup was completed with the addition of Jason Nealy (Bleeding Eyes) as guitarist and Leonardo “Livio” Langaro (Kani) as studio bassist.

Harbinger is a concept album which focuses entirely on the oldest arthropod ever to exist on Earth, the trilobite. The eight songs Inverted Matter crafted deal with a scientific research that goes from the still unknown origins of the species to their extinction, in a mix of old school and progressive death metal influences.

'Lamentations' to kolejny świetny przykład onirycznego, lirycznego heavy rocka. Doskonałe wydawnictwo!

Lancastrian rock apostles Wytch Hazel have been building their citadel since 2011, when debut single Surrender introduced this boldly wholesome new voice to the British metal underground. Since then the quartet have continually underscored and bolstered a signature sound rooted in heroic days of yore, but finessed to an elegant apex by long-time producer Ed Turner. That sonic alchemy coalesces all over V: Lamentations, bubbling with even more febrile creativity than previous masterworks Prelude, II: Sojourn, III: Pentecost and IV: Sacrament. The latter, bizarrely, reached number seven on the UK 'Christian & Gospel' chart - despite selling enough to clinch the number one rock album. "Ed is a huge part of what we're doing," affirms Wytch Hazel's guiding mastermind Colin Hendra. "He's added so many more details, there's more to pick up on multiple listens. Ed's been key in bringing these songs to life; what he brings to the table is fantastic and unique and exactly what we need. Ed finishes my musical sentences with his production."

However, working remotely with this enigmatic taskmaster ("The epitome of eccentric," laughs Colin) - and the obsessive perfectionism that both Colin and Ed bring to their work - made for an even more painfully fraught recording process than last time. Colin reveals he had nearly all of this album written when Sacrament emerged in 2023: "So why has it taken so long?!" he groans, with a frustrated despair that he can only now start to laugh at. "I basically am just physically and mentally broken by the whole thing. I actually have health issues now; I have chronic exhaustion that I'm working through. I've been having significant vocal issues, a lot of it down to my own technique and habits. I got to the stage where I couldn't keep up singing in that way, so I had to unlearn and relearn some things. I'm in a much better place now, so vocals have probably been easier this time. But there is that question: is this worth it? The endless pursuit of perfection is never finished. It's a very painful process, but now it's past the finish line I feel such relief, like a massive weight has been lifted."

Happily, accumulating material is never a problem. From heartfelt, shimmering headbangers like I Lament, Run The Race and Elements, to the richly textured, pensive atmospheres of The Citadel, Woven and Heavy Load, great songs come to Colin naturally and abundantly, as if divinely bestowed from some otherworldly wellspring. "I'll sit there and think, 'Where did that come from?!' It's the best feeling in the world," enthuses Colin. "This thing was just born - what did I do? I didn't try, it just happened, like I'm a conduit for this spiritual, magical thing. I'm sure there is some skill involved, but I can't put my finger on what! I'm sitting there moving my fingers around and then a song appears, it's so weird and magical and special. I can't stop doing it either, the songwriting is compulsive. I can't get enough of it, I love it!"
As ever, Colin's songwriting resounds with open-hearted emotional force, evoking joy and sorrow often in the same melody. A metal frontman of rare sensitivity, Colin has pushed himself to breaking point for his art. Opener I Lament was the last song to be written, and despite its Maidenesque jubilance, the lyrics came at a low point: "I was in a place where I was like, if I continue with these patterns of behaviour, where does this actually lead me? It's a lot more honest songwriting, very reflective of where I've been for the last few years: a more introspective, doubting, darker place. But I feel like I've had a very significant spiritual shift over the past few weeks. I was still dealing with chronic exhaustion and depression, but I feel I've made a lot of progress physically, spiritually and mentally, so I'm viewing the album in a different way now."

Wytch Hazel's beguiling juxtaposition of sorrow and joy is most profoundly evident on the closing partnership of Heavy Load and Healing Power, the world-weary, Sabbath-like dejection of the former giving way to the latter's heavenly uplift. "I wanted it to have a happy ending, that just felt very Wytch Hazel," affirms Colin. "I do believe music can heal. For me particularly songwriting is very therapeutic, I don't think I'd be here if there wasn't that outlet. I believe things have meanings and significance, I want my life to have that, and Healing Power is like, this actually means something. Music isn't just a self-indulgent, entertainment thing, for me it's a huge part of my life, very special, very magical and very meaningful. They're a unique band, with a clear spirit of 70s English rock, especially heirs of Jethro Tull, Uriah Heep, and Thin Lizzy, of course. This makes them something like Pagan Altar's younger siblings, as they convey that same essence of medieval mysticism.

But if Pagan Altar sometimes shows a occult side, Wytch Hazel is pure light. Their songs are joyful, emotional, full of love and heroism, with truly honest lyrics and perennial wisdom. The lead vocals are beautiful and convey a sense of serenity. These musicians are true virtuosos, although I still have the feeling they can create longer, more epic songs, something I hope they will achieve one day. Even so, their riffs are inspiring and warm, and they even introduce nostalgic acoustic arrangements.

Lamentations is another gem of this medieval hard rock genre. There aren't many differences from their predecessors, which demonstrates the great mastery they possess in their unique style. The album cover, however, evokes a certain Templar secret, something that was already known from the beginning, but here they seem to make it clear: this band is proudly Christian, not a run-of-the-mill Christianity, but an esoteric-gnostic inner Christianity.

The first song, "I Lament," is an energetic opening, as if on a mission or trying to convey an important message that tells you: pay attention to what we have to say! The next great track is "Elixir," a captivating instrumental that will inevitably grab your subconscious. Immediately after comes what, for me, is the best song on the album: "Woven," it's a special piece, with an esoteric message and musically orgasmic. Heavy Load brings to mind the name of that essential Swedish band, surely a tribute to them. In short, the entire album is a demonstration of faith; it's solid and consistent, which is why it could undoubtedly be placed alongside the best NWOBHM albums.

Wytch Hazel is a special band that puts most metal bands in general to shame. From a psychological perspective, this genre is full of people with many unhealed wounds who hide all that pain behind a black shirt. But behold, the cure has been given to them, and the cure is called Wytch Hazel.

'Lamentations' to kolejny świetny przykład onirycznego, lirycznego heavy rocka. Doskonałe wydawnictwo!
O dziwo 'pani bozia' mnie tutaj nie razi...



Lancastrian rock apostles Wytch Hazel have been building their citadel since 2011, when debut single Surrender introduced this boldly wholesome new voice to the British metal underground. Since then the quartet have continually underscored and bolstered a signature sound rooted in heroic days of yore, but finessed to an elegant apex by long-time producer Ed Turner. That sonic alchemy coalesces all over V: Lamentations, bubbling with even more febrile creativity than previous masterworks Prelude, II: Sojourn, III: Pentecost and IV: Sacrament. The latter, bizarrely, reached number seven on the UK 'Christian & Gospel' chart - despite selling enough to clinch the number one rock album. "Ed is a huge part of what we're doing," affirms Wytch Hazel's guiding mastermind Colin Hendra. "He's added so many more details, there's more to pick up on multiple listens. Ed's been key in bringing these songs to life; what he brings to the table is fantastic and unique and exactly what we need. Ed finishes my musical sentences with his production."

However, working remotely with this enigmatic taskmaster ("The epitome of eccentric," laughs Colin) - and the obsessive perfectionism that both Colin and Ed bring to their work - made for an even more painfully fraught recording process than last time. Colin reveals he had nearly all of this album written when Sacrament emerged in 2023: "So why has it taken so long?!" he groans, with a frustrated despair that he can only now start to laugh at. "I basically am just physically and mentally broken by the whole thing. I actually have health issues now; I have chronic exhaustion that I'm working through. I've been having significant vocal issues, a lot of it down to my own technique and habits. I got to the stage where I couldn't keep up singing in that way, so I had to unlearn and relearn some things. I'm in a much better place now, so vocals have probably been easier this time. But there is that question: is this worth it? The endless pursuit of perfection is never finished. It's a very painful process, but now it's past the finish line I feel such relief, like a massive weight has been lifted."

Happily, accumulating material is never a problem. From heartfelt, shimmering headbangers like I Lament, Run The Race and Elements, to the richly textured, pensive atmospheres of The Citadel, Woven and Heavy Load, great songs come to Colin naturally and abundantly, as if divinely bestowed from some otherworldly wellspring. "I'll sit there and think, 'Where did that come from?!' It's the best feeling in the world," enthuses Colin. "This thing was just born - what did I do? I didn't try, it just happened, like I'm a conduit for this spiritual, magical thing. I'm sure there is some skill involved, but I can't put my finger on what! I'm sitting there moving my fingers around and then a song appears, it's so weird and magical and special. I can't stop doing it either, the songwriting is compulsive. I can't get enough of it, I love it!"
As ever, Colin's songwriting resounds with open-hearted emotional force, evoking joy and sorrow often in the same melody. A metal frontman of rare sensitivity, Colin has pushed himself to breaking point for his art. Opener I Lament was the last song to be written, and despite its Maidenesque jubilance, the lyrics came at a low point: "I was in a place where I was like, if I continue with these patterns of behaviour, where does this actually lead me? It's a lot more honest songwriting, very reflective of where I've been for the last few years: a more introspective, doubting, darker place. But I feel like I've had a very significant spiritual shift over the past few weeks. I was still dealing with chronic exhaustion and depression, but I feel I've made a lot of progress physically, spiritually and mentally, so I'm viewing the album in a different way now."

Wytch Hazel's beguiling juxtaposition of sorrow and joy is most profoundly evident on the closing partnership of Heavy Load and Healing Power, the world-weary, Sabbath-like dejection of the former giving way to the latter's heavenly uplift. "I wanted it to have a happy ending, that just felt very Wytch Hazel," affirms Colin. "I do believe music can heal. For me particularly songwriting is very therapeutic, I don't think I'd be here if there wasn't that outlet. I believe things have meanings and significance, I want my life to have that, and Healing Power is like, this actually means something. Music isn't just a self-indulgent, entertainment thing, for me it's a huge part of my life, very special, very magical and very meaningful. I want Wytch Hazel to be a force for good, a healing power."

Choć pilska Qulturka jest zespołem z 20-letnią historią to dopiero obecnie zespół zdecydował się na wydanie swojego albumu we współpracy z wytwórnią fonograficzną.

20 letnie istnienie Qulturki to przede wszystkim doświadczenie nabyte podczas szeregu małych i dużych koncertów, obecności na festiwalach oraz dzielenia sceny m.in. z takimi wykonawcami jak U.K. SUBS, Kult, Armia, Pidżama Porno, Strachy na Lachy, The Vibrators, Farben Lehre, KSU, Moskwa, Habakuk, Alians…
Nie bez znaczenia jest także fakt, że wokalistów Qulturki usłyszeć można na płycie Strachów na Lachy, wokalistka grupy występowała m.in. z takimi zespołami jak KSU, Farben Lehre czy Ga-Ga Zielone Żabki, a w składzie zespołu odnajdujemy muzyków znanych z innej pilskiej grupy Alians.

Płyta o tytule „EKG” wydana przez Jimmy Jazz Records, jest kolejną muzyczną odsłoną dokonań grupy mocno zakorzenionych w punk rocku, ale czerpiących także inspiracje z pozytywnych i skocznych dźwięków ska i reggae. Album przynosi 11 kompozycji, przy których nie sposób oprzeć się wrażeniu, że Qulturka z doskonałym skutkiem podąża droga muzycznych dokonań najlepszych przedstawicieli polskiej sceny punk lat 80 i 90 ub. wieku, podkreślając na co dzień i w tekstach swoje zaangażowanie i wsparcie dla działań antyrasistowskich i ekologicznych.

Utwór „M.K.” poświęcony jest pamięci zmarłego Marcina Kornaka (1968-2014), założyciela Stowarzyszenia „NIGDY WIĘCEJ” i inicjatora kampanii „Muzyka Przeciwko Rasizmowi”.

Rzadki, limitowany, dwupłytowy CD zawierający trwający 127 minut, kapitalny występ z Bostonu, z 7 czerwca 1977 roku - obok występu z Oakland (maj 1977) najlepiej brzmiący koncert z trasy promującej LP "Animals". Podobnie jak podczas poprzedniej trasy ("Wish You Were Here" z 1975) nikt związany z Pink Floyd nie zarejestrował wówczas profesjonalnie żadnego koncertu. I znów kilka występów zostało nagranych jakimś cudem 'znienacka' z publiczności, a koncert z Bostonu jest naprawdę wyjątkowy! Zawartość muzyczna również jest po prostu powalająca! Grający z towarzyszeniem drugiego gitarzysty Snowy'ego White'a (potem w Thin Lizzy, znanego również z solowego przeboju "Bird Of Paradise"), zespół wykonał całe LP "Wish You Were Here" (mocno rozszerzony, m.in. o drugą część suity "Shine On", trwającą ponad 21 minut!), całe "Animals" (również zmieniony/rozszerzony w porównaniu z wersją studyjną) + dwa fragmenty z "Dark Side Of The Moon". Zarejestrowany wśród publiczności, na 'prawie' profesjonalnym sprzęcie koncert brzmi lepiej niż część oficjalnych nagrań ze stołu mikserskiego.
