Far be it from me to actually purchase a live video, but this one totally killed, all the way down to Martin's little sheet metal broadsword. I cannot believe that a band could perform so well on a video, next to Maiden. I cannot really say much more for it, but I think this video really brings out Martin's voice. IMO, this proves his voice to be one of the best in thrash, as well as one of the most original.

My favorite part about it though, and anyone who watches Red Dwarf might draw this distinction, that when Martin is singing, he looks like Lister from the show, and even sounds like him slightly.

This is a wonderful Video, and any fan of this band should own it. 95

Zremasterowana, szwedzka edycja kultowego, wydanego w styczniu 1973 roku albumu, na którym muzycy wczesnego składu Thin Lizzy (Phil Lynott, Eric Bell i Brian Downey) z pomocą dwóch innych Irlandczyków (wokalisty i klawiszowca), wykonują klasyczne numery Deep Purple oraz kilka przeróbek. To jest bardzo dobry, solidny album - w epoce wydany dla szybkich pieniędzy nakładem niewielkich wytwórni, a dziś bez wątpienia należący do szerokiego kanonu rocka.

Warto zwrócić uwagę na świetne wersje 'Fireball' i 'Hush', a przede wszystkim na doskonały 'Speed King'! To jest absolutny mus dla fanów Lizzy i starego hard rocka! W środku zamieszczono m.in. reprodukcję okładki niemieckiej edycji wydanej pod nazwą The Rock Machine)!



I think there is a very salient point being missed by some reviewers.This was not intended for release as an album by a new group on a major label.It was aimed at the market which bought Pickwick records Top Of The Pops compilations and MFP's Hot Hits comps.That market was British schoolkids who didn't have the cash to go out and buy all the albums and singles by all their favourite artists,so this type of LP was hugely popular Of course it's cover versions done as closely as possible to the original-that's the point.These weren't bought by fans wanting to hear a ten minute improvised guitar/keyboard duel around the basis of Fireball.They wanted something that sounds as close to Fireball as possible for 50 pence from the local Woolworth's as opposed to shelling out £2.50 for Deep purple's album.If you only have £2.50 pocket money you have a dilemma.I remember spending hours in my local record store with the heavy choice to make -does it go on Yes's Close To The Edge,The Ash's Argus,the latest Purple,Heep,Cat Stevens,Tull,Camel,Ad Infinitum.
You couldn't have 'em all-just one.That's why these LPs flourished in the early 70s in the Uk.

Luminaries such as Elton John,David Byron of Heep and others loaned there talents to TOTP and Hot Hits LPs.Some tracks turned out passably good. many were laughably bad.In the case of Downey and Bell on Funky Junction's Lp the band does a decent job(There is doubt as to whether Lynott actually appears on the recordings.Some say yeah others nay.

Jeśli ktoś wyczekiwał, że w 2020 roku na rynku reedycji pojawi się jakiś prawdziwy ‘killer’ to bez wątpienia wiadomość, która dotarła do nas już jakiś czas temu spełniła te oczekiwania w co najmniej 200 %. No ale nie może być inaczej, jeśli jedna z najwybitniejszych płyt w historii muzyki zostaje wydana w wersji 26 (!!!) dyskowej. Album In The Court Of The Crimson King o którym już pisałem na naszym blogu nie wymaga żadnej rekomendacji. Powiedziano o nim chyba wszystko i nie sądzę, aby ktokolwiek, kto zagląda na Rockową płytotekę mógł go nie znać na pamięć. Dlatego zamiast filozofować od razu skupimy się na zawartości najnowszego wydawnictwa legendarnych – King Crimson. Właściwie box nazywać się będzie The Complete 1969 Recordings, ale ponieważ w tym roku zespół nagrał tylko jeden (debiutancki) album i tak wszystko w tym pudełku kręcić się będzie wokół jego zawartości.

Oczywiście opisanie i przeanalizowanie całej zawartości boxu wymagało by co najmniej habilitacji, dlatego zerkniemy na wszystko w nieco bardziej powierzchowny i przystępny sposób. Zaznaczmy jednak od razu, że w zestawie mają się znaleźć WSZYSTKIE nagrania sesyjne oraz mixy (o jakich wiadomo że istnieją), komplet zachowanych rejestracji koncertowych i radiowych z 1969 roku oraz wybór nagrań z okresu przed wydaniem legendarnego debiutu.

Wydawnictwo rozpoczynają albumy live. Na siedmiu dyskach zamieszczono wydawane już wcześniej w różnych seriach i konfiguracjach legendarne występy zespołu m.in. w Hyde Parku czy Fillmore West i East. Ponoć specjalnie dla tej edycji wykonano nowe masteringi i zgranie materiałów z nośników źródłowych, co zauważalnie poprawiło ich jakość. Kolejne pięć kompaktów do wszelkie warianty zasadniczego albumu. A więc zremasterowana wersja z 1969 roku, remixy z lat 2009 i 2019 oraz masa dodatków, zawartych w poprzednich edycjach. Wreszcie to co chyba najciekawsze, czyli ostatnie 7 dysków.

Zawierają one na nowo zmiksowane do stereo wszystkie istniejące zapisy z sesji nagraniowej. Z jednej strony słuchanie np. 11 podejść do i Epitaph może być nieco nużące, ale z drugiej przecież wszyscy od zawsze marzymy, aby poznać jak najwięcej zachowanych outtake’ów naszych ukochanych zespołów. Dodatkowe dwie płyty audio to wybór na nowo zgranych i zremasterowanych nagrań zespołu Giles, Giles & Fripp z 1968 roku oraz CD z kapitalnymi rejestracjami dla Radia BBC (szkoda, że zachowało się ich tylko pięć). W pudełku znajdziemy jeszcze dwa DVD i cztery Blu-Raye – z masą nagrań zamieszczonych już na opisywanych kompaktach z tym, że podanych w innych formatach dźwiękowych (pliki stereo w wysokiej rozdzielczości, miksy przestrzenne w wielu wariantach, itp). Prawdziwą ucztą może okazać się nowy mix Stevena Wilsona wykonany w technologii Dolby Atmos (podobno solówki i mellotrony „krążą tam nad głową”, a instrumentalna sekcja w Moonchild, otrzymuje całkiem nową jakość). Posłuchamy – ocenimy. Całość zapakowano w pudło wielkości winylu, obok płyt zawierające oczywiście gruba 40-stronicowa książkę z wszelkimi informacjami i notkami o zamieszczonych w boxie nagraniach.

Moją pierwszą reakcją na wieść o przygotowywanym zestawie była myśl: super, ale na pewno nie kupię, bo i tak nigdy nie będę słuchał. Ale że wydawnictwo dotyczy, kto wie czy nie najważniejszej płyty w historii rocka progresywnego powoli zaczynam się przełamywać.

Featuring a new Dolby Atmos mix by Steven Wilson, 6 CDs' worth of session material on CD & Blu-Ray for the first time (fully mixed by David Singleton), a further disc of newly compiled studio material, the box also includes the original studio album, every alternate take known to exist, every mix known to exist, all live recordings known to exist & a selection of pre/Crimson 1968 recordings.

As with the previous seven boxed sets in the series, The Complete 1969 Recordings is housed in a vinyl sized box complete with a booklet featuring an introduction by Robert Fripp, notes about the source tapes from David Singleton, sleeve-notes by King Crimson biographer Sid Smith, previously unseen photos from the recordings sessions, additional memorabilia and a protective outer sleeve.

Having done 5.1 Surround Sound mixes for both the 40th & 50th-anniversary editions of the album, Steven Wilson was able to take full advantage of the opportunities offered by Atmos mixing, allowing for far greater movement within the mix itself. As he put it: "I've definitely had a bit more fun with the Atmos mix, watch out for solos and mellotrons circling overhead!" While the improv section of 'Moonchild' is a particular beneficiary of this approach, the mix is very active, with plenty of ear-catching moments to offer to listeners.

Likewise, significant work on the multi-track tapes was undertaken by David Singleton - who mixed all of the existing multi-track sessions recordings to stereo as well as running the single track CD length 'Let's Make a Hit Waxing' - from those same tapes. "Listening to the original recording sessions was astonishing. Time collapses and you are suddenly there in the studio with a young band, just starting out, as they experiment with recording their first album. It is not so much listening to a slick product, more witnessing a process. You are present at the birth.”

Powiedziano o nim chyba wszystko i nie sądzę, aby ktokolwiek, kto zagląda na Rockową płytotekę mógł go nie znać na pamięć. Dlatego zamiast filozofować od razu skupimy się na zawartości najnowszego wydawnictwa legendarnych – King Crimson. Właściwie box nazywać się będzie The Complete 1969 Recordings, ale ponieważ w tym roku zespół nagrał tylko jeden (debiutancki) album i tak wszystko w tym pudełku kręcić się będzie wokół jego zawartości.

Oczywiście opisanie i przeanalizowanie całej zawartości boxu wymagało by co najmniej habilitacji, dlatego zerkniemy na wszystko w nieco bardziej powierzchowny i przystępny sposób. Zaznaczmy jednak od razu, że w zestawie mają się znaleźć WSZYSTKIE nagrania sesyjne oraz mixy (o jakich wiadomo że istnieją), komplet zachowanych rejestracji koncertowych i radiowych z 1969 roku oraz wybór nagrań z okresu przed wydaniem legendarnego debiutu.

Wydawnictwo rozpoczynają albumy live. Na siedmiu dyskach zamieszczono wydawane już wcześniej w różnych seriach i konfiguracjach legendarne występy zespołu m.in. w Hyde Parku czy Fillmore West i East. Ponoć specjalnie dla tej edycji wykonano nowe masteringi i zgranie materiałów z nośników źródłowych, co zauważalnie poprawiło ich jakość. Kolejne pięć kompaktów do wszelkie warianty zasadniczego albumu. A więc zremasterowana wersja z 1969 roku, remixy z lat 2009 i 2019 oraz masa dodatków, zawartych w poprzednich edycjach. Wreszcie to co chyba najciekawsze, czyli ostatnie 7 dysków.

Zawierają one na nowo zmiksowane do stereo wszystkie istniejące zapisy z sesji nagraniowej. Z jednej strony słuchanie np. 11 podejść do i Epitaph może być nieco nużące, ale z drugiej przecież wszyscy od zawsze marzymy, aby poznać jak najwięcej zachowanych outtake’ów naszych ukochanych zespołów. Dodatkowe dwie płyty audio to wybór na nowo zgranych i zremasterowanych nagrań zespołu Giles, Giles & Fripp z 1968 roku oraz CD z kapitalnymi rejestracjami dla Radia BBC (szkoda, że zachowało się ich tylko pięć). W pudełku znajdziemy jeszcze dwa DVD i cztery Blu-Raye – z masą nagrań zamieszczonych już na opisywanych kompaktach z tym, że podanych w innych formatach dźwiękowych (pliki stereo w wysokiej rozdzielczości, miksy przestrzenne w wielu wariantach, itp). Prawdziwą ucztą może okazać się nowy mix Stevena Wilsona wykonany w technologii Dolby Atmos (podobno solówki i mellotrony „krążą tam nad głową”, a instrumentalna sekcja w Moonchild, otrzymuje całkiem nową jakość). Posłuchamy – ocenimy. Całość zapakowano w pudło wielkości winylu, obok płyt zawierające oczywiście gruba 40-stronicowa książkę z wszelkimi informacjami i notkami o zamieszczonych w boxie nagraniach.

Having done 5.1 Surround Sound mixes for both the 40th & 50th-anniversary editions of the album, Steven Wilson was able to take full advantage of the opportunities offered by Atmos mixing, allowing for far greater movement within the mix itself. As he put it: "I've definitely had a bit more fun with the Atmos mix, watch out for solos and mellotrons circling overhead!" While the improv section of 'Moonchild' is a particular beneficiary of this approach, the mix is very active, with plenty of ear-catching moments to offer to listeners.

Jeśli ktoś wyczekiwał, że w 2020 roku na rynku reedycji pojawi się jakiś prawdziwy ‘killer’ to bez wątpienia wiadomość, która dotarła do nas już jakiś czas temu spełniła te oczekiwania w co najmniej 200 %. No ale nie może być inaczej, jeśli jedna z najwybitniejszych płyt w historii muzyki zostaje wydana w wersji 26 (!!!) dyskowej. Album In The Court Of The Crimson King o którym już pisałem na naszym blogu nie wymaga żadnej rekomendacji. Powiedziano o nim chyba wszystko i nie sądzę, aby ktokolwiek, kto zagląda na Rockową płytotekę mógł go nie znać na pamięć. Dlatego zamiast filozofować od razu skupimy się na zawartości najnowszego wydawnictwa legendarnych – King Crimson. Właściwie box nazywać się będzie The Complete 1969 Recordings, ale ponieważ w tym roku zespół nagrał tylko jeden (debiutancki) album i tak wszystko w tym pudełku kręcić się będzie wokół jego zawartości.

To jest ambitne i autentycznie wysmakowane, ciężkie granie w brytyjskim stylu i aż trudno uwierzyć, że ten perfekcyjnie brzmiący album nagrany został za niewielkie pieniądze (w starym teatrze) i wydany przez sam zespół w nakładzie tysiąca egzemplarzy (obecnie w stanie idealnym płyta jest warta 500$...).

Dołączono oba utwory z singla 'Cross Country Man / State Of The Artist' (1982) i trzy wcześniej niepublikowane utwory.

Uprzedzam, że to nie to Atrocity, o którym myślicie. Amerykańskie Atrocity nakurwia grindcore z death metalem.

Powstali w 1985 roku i zanim doczekali się pięknego debiutu, w świat puścili trzy demosy i EP'kę. W 1990 roku Metalcore wydaje debiutancki album Infected, który mówiąc krótko zabija. Jeżeli wiecie co to Repulsion, Nuclear Death, Terrorizer czy Blood, to czym prędzej włączcie Infected, bo w kolejce już czeka kolejny album The Art Of Death!, na którym Atrocity idzie drogą wytyczoną przez debiut.
Co prawda na drugiej płycie jest sporo death metalowych naleciałości, ale stary grindcore nie zaginął i ciągle jest słyszalny, zwłaszcza w charakterystycznej motoryce kawałków.

Here we have the debut album by US band Atrocity and please do not confuse them with their German namesakes, as they have very little in common. Where the German Atrocity started out as a boring technical death/thrash act that evolved into a boring goth rock act, the US Atrocity played a ferocious mixture of death metal and grindcore. To say that they are legendary is perhaps a tad exaggerated, but the term "cult" is certainly appropriate. Their debut from 1990 is a very enjoyable blast of grinding death, sure to please every maniac who still thinks that no good death/grind has been produced beyond 1992.

Alright, let's talk music: the first thing that catches my attention is that the production on this LP is raw but at the same time very clear without sounding polished in any way. You can actually hear all the instruments and that includes the bass guitar, an instrument that's often neglected in extreme metal. The overall sound immediately grabs you by the throat and pulls you into the maelstrom of furious rage that is "Infected". Back in those days you didn't get to hear grindcore albums sounding this good, I'll tell you that.

The music is, as mentioned earlier, a mix of raw death metal and old school grindcore. The songs are short and the tempo is high for most of the album. There are blastbeats aplenty, but the individual songs have enough variation to avoid becoming boring. Atrocity know how to incorporate somewhat slower parts in their music and the way the songs are structured bring to mind some of the faster metal/hardcore bands of yore. Try imagining a cross between Repulsion and Cryptic Slaughter here, the music more than once has that old school crossover thrash feel to it, something you can also hear in the vocal delivery. The vocalist doesn't use a typical grunt but he incorporates more of a growling approach. You could perhaps think of Scott Carlson from Repulsion or Kurt Brecht of D.R.I. with a bad case of laryngitis.

So, if you, like me, get a warm feeling in your tummy (and crotch) from bands such as Repulsion, Headrot and Phlegm, I can not only recommend you this platter 'o' splatter, but Atrocity's whole back catalogue! Even fans of the more extreme hardcore punks like Septic Death or Sore Throat can join in, there's plenty of goodness to be found here for all supporters of grinding extremity!

CORRUPT MORAL ALTAR are an angry band. "Mechanical Tides" is an angry album full of angry songs. 'Anger is an energy', sounded the battle cry raised by former SEX PISTOLS frontman Johnny Rotten. Oszałamiający debiut!


CORRUPT MORAL ALTAR are an angry band. "Mechanical Tides" is an angry album full of angry songs. 'Anger is an energy', sounded the battle cry raised by former SEX PISTOLS frontman Johnny Rotten. CORRUPT MORAL ALTAR connected the dots and reviewed the forever undead spirit of original punk with their founding on the Merseyside in 2012. Filling in the blanks left by decades of musical evolution, the quartet added sludge, grind and hardcore elements to their sound. This fistful of aggression was slammed straight into the faces of their adversaries, creating shockwaves with the immediate release of their "Needle Drugs" demo in the year of their founding as well as the 2013 EPs "Luciferian Deathcult" and "Whiskey Sierra", which received a glowing welcome in the UK press.

To jest tempo, proszę Państwa. Niniejszy album, będący zarazem pierwszym wydawnictwem w ogóle hordu o nazwie Necromoon, dostałem może z miesiąc – półtora miesiąca temu, zaś sama premiera była w maju. I dziś wchodzę na stronę na Metal Archives i widzę, że od tego czasu zespół wypuścił trzy kolejne materiały w tym jedną kompilację.

Pasowałoby powiedzieć więc, że Necromoon para się black metalem (badum tssss + odgłos świerszcza), ale wprowadziłbym Was w błąd. A przecież tak nie można! Więc ogłaszam, że zespół o nazwie Necromoon, na albumie zatytułowanym „War with Tyranny”, który zdobi okładka z kobietą w lateksowym habicie, z maską pegazką na głowie, gra black metal. Totalne zaskoczenie, prawda?

A konkretnie to przebijają mi się tutaj dwie kapele: Beherit oraz Blasphemy. Wpływy więc doskonałe, szczególnie dla takiego prymitywa jak niżej podpisany. Ale jak wiemy, w chuj jest zespołów, które są jakimś wykrzywionym pastiszem obu tych kultowych hord. Może zepsuł mi się czujnik lipy, ale nie wyczuwam niczego takiego w przypadku Necromoon. Przeciwnie – bardzo udanie korzystają (korzysta?) z tego, co zapoczątkowane zostało na „Drawning Down the Moon” i „Fallen Angel of Doom”. Mamy tu więc totalnie zwierzęce, brutalne ataki, ale też dużo powolnych i transowych (a przy tym wciąż agresywnych i nienawistnych) momentów. Wszystko oczywiście z brudnym i nieludzkim brzmieniem, choć tu akurat moim zdaniem szala przechyla się raczej na rzecz inspiracji Finami niż Kanadyjczykami. A na sam koniec dostajemy trwającego niemal kwadrans w chuj powolnego black/doom metalowego potwora, chyba żeby Was do końca zeszmacić.

I jeśli to było zadanie „War with Tyranny”, to w moim przypadku się udało. Niezły kawał smolistego black metalu, mocno osadzonego w najczarniejszym z kultów. Nie wiem jak się rozwinęła muzyka Necromoon w ciągu kolejnych trzech miesięcy, ale możecie być pewni, że sprawdzę, bowiem debiut mocno mnie zainteresował.

No! Dokładnie o to chodziło panie Morgul! Właśnie dzięki takim wydawnictwom Putrid Cult jest przez niektórych nazywany polskim odpowiednikiem Iron Bonehead Productions. „War With Tyranny” to debiutancki album naszych krajanów, a jego zawartość to Szatan, syf, choróbska wszelakie, gnijące zwierzęce szczątki oraz dwie taczki gnoju i błota. Poza ostatnim, trwającym niemal kwadrans „A Transcendental Journey to an Unknown Dimension”, pozostałe utwory, a jest ich osiem, zamykają się w większości w trzech minutach. Najprościej byłoby posłużyć się tutaj porównaniem dość oczywistym. Panowie zapewne nie obrażą się, jeśli nazwę ich muzykę polskim odpowiednikiem Beherit, bo to zapewne wczesna twórczość tego zespołu była główną inspiracją powołania Necromoon do życia. Finezji muzyczne nie ma tu zatem żadnej, ale to nie mają być, z zasady, piosenki do słuchania w radio czy filharmonii. Muzycy za pomocą prostych środków sieją na tych nagraniach zniszczenie i popełniają bluźnierstwa najgorszego sortu. Niewiele tutaj przyspieszeń, a nawet jeśli takowe się zdarzają, to momentalnie równoważone są brudnymi jak miejski ściek zwolnieniami. Mimo bardzo sztywnych ram inspiracji, Necromoon starają się, by ich kompozycje nie były jednakowe czy schematyczne. Powiedziałbym, że muzycy udowadniają, iż mocno wyeksploatowane już harmonie można odświeżyć i tchnąć weń odrobinę świeżości (jeśli to słowo w tym przypadku w ogóle jest na miejscu). Całość wieńczy, wspomniany już, czternastominutowy kolos, oparty na mariażu schowanego na drugi plan ambientu, z drone’owymi, ociężałymi riffami i rytualnymi wokalizami. I przy tych dźwiękach piekło dosłownie otwiera swoje wrota na oścież. Klimat tej kompozycji to czyste zło, bezwzględnie idealne ukoronowanie „Wojny z Tyranią”. Uwielbiam takie proste, obłąkane, satanistyczne granie, a Necromoon zaprezentowali w tym temacie materiał z najwyższej półki, który bez wstydu można postawić obok Nekkrofukk czy Cult of Black Blood. Dla maniaków gatunku ten debiut to absolutny mus, a dla mnie chyba najbardziej zaskakujący debiut na rodzimej scenie w tym roku (przynajmniej do chwili obecnej).

It is not a copy or blind imitation, but a capture of the atmosphere of those times. Filthy sound, morbid and possessed vocals, blasphemous invocations, anxiety and pure evil. A total of 37 minutes that perfectly capture the spirit of those times and open the gates of hell.
