Po lekkim wakacyjnym wydawniczym marazmie sezon przedświąteczny prezentuje się całkiem bogato. Wśród wielu zapowiedzianych pozycji, o których będę sukcesywnie pisał, szczególnie interesująco wygląda imponujący box, jakże uwielbianej przeze mnie grupy Camel. Wydawnictwo „Air Born: The MCA & Decca Years 1973-1984” przygotowano z okazji 50-lecia ukazania się pierwszego longplaya formacji. Będzie ono zawierać aż 27 płyt CD (!!!) oraz 5 Blu-Ray’ów.

Zestaw wypełnią zremasterowane wersje wszystkich albumów studyjnych, koncertowych oraz singli zrealizowanych przez Camel dla wytwórni MCA i Decca. Do tego dojdą trzy recitale dla BBC: BBC Radio One „In Concert” – 6 czerwiec 1974, BBC Radio One „In Concert” – 22 kwiecień 1975 oraz BBC „In Concert” – Golders Green Hippodrome – 29 wrzesień 1977. Kolejne trzy koncerty to na nowo zmiksowane występy: „Live at Marquee Club, London” – 20 czerwiec 1974, „Live at Hammersmith Odeon” – 14 kwiecień 1976 oraz „Live at Hammersmith Odeon” – 1 październik 1977. Wszystkie te zapisy były co prawda już publikowane jako bonusy na poprzednich edycjach albumów zespołu, ale w nieco chaotyczny i nieuporządkowany sposób. Teraz będzie można ich wysłuchać w całości. Nader ciekawie i obiecująco przestawiają się studyjne (w większości niepublikowane) bonusy, pochodzące z sesji do poszczególnych albumów. Nie ma ich dużo, ale na pewno przysporzą sporo radości fanom formacji. Odrzutem z pierwszego albumu jest utwór „Sarah”. Aż pięć nagrań, które trafiły na płytę „Mirage”, otrzymamy dodatkowo także we wczesnych wersjach demo z 15 czerwca 1973r. Dwa mniej znane nagrania „Autumn” i „Riverman”, zespół zrealizował gdzieś pomiędzy longplayami „Mirage” i „The Snow Goose”. Krążek „Moonmadness” uzupełnią m.in. trzy studyjne dema. I wreszcie utwór „Captured” z płyty „Nude” usłyszymy we wczesnej, nieznanej dotąd wersji.

Jakby tego było mało, albumy „Camel”, „Mirage”, „The Snow Goose”, „Moonmadness” i „Nude” otrzymujemy także w zupełnie nowych miksach stereo oraz 5.1. Ogromna szkoda, że w podobny sposób nie opracowano pozostałych płyt. Być może nie udało się odnaleźć taśm z zapisami wielośladowymi?

Jeśli chodzi o materiały wideo, to poza paroma klipami i fragmentami występów z TV znajdą się tam koncerty: BBC TV „The Old Grey Whistle Test” – 21 czerwiec 1975, Live at Hammersmith Odeon – 1 październik 1977 oraz film „Pressure Points”. Pudełko uzupełni oczywiście gruba książka oraz plakat.

The box features 27 CDs & five blu-rays and includes newly remastered versions of every Camel album and single issued between 1973 and 1984, but also includes new stereo and 5.1 Surround Sound versions of five albums, as well as new mixes of three concerts; The Marquee Club, London 1974, Hammersmith Odeon 1976 and Hammersmith Odeon 1977.

The package also features previously unreleased outtakes from album recording sessions and BBC Radio ‘In Concert’ appearances from 1974, 1975, 1977 and 1981.




Emerging just in time to honour the 50th anniversary of their debut album, Air Born is a sprawling boxed set which, as the title implies, celebrates their years spent with MCA and Decca. This was not always a happy time in terms of the band's relationship with Decca; in particular, after Andy Ward suffered a mental health crisis and attempted suicide, Andrew Latimer wanted to put the band on hiatus for a while to give Ward a chance to recuperate, but heartlessly Decca demanded that Camel put out a new studio album anyway - and pressured them to make it commercially friendly on top of that - which is what led to the critical stumble of The Single Factor.
Still, musically speaking this covers the music which Camel built their legacy on and more besides. Full remasters (and, for some select albums, additional stereo remixes) of all the Camel studio releases from their debut to Stationary Traveller are, naturally, included, along with a range of supplementary material ranging from unreleased studio tracks through to full live performances.

Much of this stuff has emerged in one form or another as bonus tracks over time, but there are a few significant bits of material which are new to this release. The major scoop of the collection is the full demo tape the band recorded in between their debut album and Mirage, which finds early versions of almost all the Mirage tracks present - only Freefall from that album is missing, and instead we get The Traveller, a Uriah Heep-ish piece which seems to have been abandoned as being more in keeping with their debut album's sound than Mirage's. In terms of sound quality, the demo is top notch, and captures the band's musical growth since they recorded their self-titled album marvellously, forming a hitherto-missing link between that and Mirage.

As for the live material, this is largely a mixture of BBC sessions and material released elsewhere, though there are enhancements and additions here and there. Early live performances include the take on God of Light Revisited originally recorded for the Greasy Truckers - Live At Dingwalls Dance Hall release, a funky, Santana-influenced piece. Again, this has been fairly widely repackaged as a bonus track on some issue or other over the years.

BBC sessions here include a June 1974 recording showcasing the band fresh from the release of Mirage, a more expansive 1975 offering giving extensive extracts from The Snow Goose (with the band on excellent form and proving they didn't need the orchestra to evoken the album's magic live), their excellent appearance on The Old Grey Whistle Test, and a 1977 Sight and Sound In Concert appearance from the Rain Dances lineup primarily focused on that album but also including great takes on Snow Goose material, Never Let Go from the debut, and an absolutely stellar take on Lunar Sea from Moonmadness. Much of this material has shown up as bonus tracks or on bootlegs over the years, but it's nice to get it in fairly definitive versions here.

Rather than presenting A Live Record in either its original or expanded configurations, the box instead offers the complete original live recordings from the different shows which made up that release. This includes a full set from the Marquee Club in October 1974, in which the band both burn through excellent renditions of Mirage-era material and road test compositions which would later make it onto The Snow Goose. The sound quality on this is remarkably good - perhaps the best of any of the pre-Goose live offerings here - and it's interesting how the Snow Goose compositions differ to account for the lack of an orchestra in tow.

Naturally, there's also the Royal Albert Hall full performance of The Snow Goose with orchestra from 1975, which would form the basis of the second disc of A Live Record; this is enhanced by an encore performance of Lady Fantasy, skillfully adapted to account for the orchestra.

We also get a full concert set from the Hammersmith Odeon in 1976; previously only smatterings of this had been borrowed for the extended CD version of A Live Record or on some reissues of Moonmadness, but having the full show to hand in its original running order is excellent. There's a few technical issues audible - notably some faint buzzing on a few tracks which could be down to the original tapes having an issue or might be indicative of some of the band's equipment having a bit of a moment, but this is a mild blemish easily overlooked, especially since some care seems to have been taken here to tidy up the lives tapes as best as possible.

This live set is especially valuable since it provides a final showcase for the original lineup of Camel - some would say the classic lineup - prior to personnel shifts and their Rain Dances-era drift into a Canterbury-influenced direction. You get Latimer, Ward, Ferguson, and Bardens at the absolute top of their game, with a setlist drawn from some of the greatest albums not just in the Camel discography but in the progressive rock pantheon as a whole, with the setlist finally presented on disc more or less as it was conceived to be delivered onstage; when you think about it, that's absolutely fantastic.

The band return to the Odeon in 1977 for a barnstorming set which, along with some stray tracks from other venues rounding off the Live Record material. The 1977 Odeon show is the fullest document of the Rain Dances lineup live on this set, and it's absolutely superb. Between that and the tracks from Bristol and Leeds, the Rain Dances period ends up being the era of the band that's perhaps best-represented by live material here (with The Snow Goose period a close second).

Other live material in the collection includes a tightened-up reissue of the BBC session previously released as On the Road 1981 (including two tracks - Summer Lightning and Ice - not included on previous releases of the BBC session) and, lastly, a remaster of Pressure Points.

Most prog fans will have at least some of the material here - though the new mixes of Camel, Mirage, The Snow Goose, Moonmadness, and Nude are good enough to be worth dipping into (and the previous mixes are also presented so you can judge which you prefer) - but even Camel fanatics probably won't have all of it. If you've got significant gaps to fill in your Camel collection - or if the prospect of all those live goodies have you salivating - it's highly worthwhile, offering the lion's share of their output in one package.

We also get a full concert set from the Hammersmith Odeon in 1976; previously only smatterings of this had been borrowed for the extended CD version of A Live Record or on some reissues of Moonmadness, but having the full show to hand in its original running order is excellent. There's a few technical issues audible - notably some faint buzzing on a few tracks which could be down to the original tapes having an issue or might be indicative of some of the band's equipment having a bit of a moment, but this is a mild blemish easily overlooked, especially since some care seems to have been taken here to tidy up the lives tapes as best as possible.

This live set is especially valuable since it provides a final showcase for the original lineup of Camel - some would say the classic lineup - prior to personnel shifts and their Rain Dances-era drift into a Canterbury-influenced direction. You get Latimer, Ward, Ferguson, and Bardens at the absolute top of their game, with a setlist drawn from some of the greatest albums not just in the Camel discography but in the progressive rock pantheon as a whole, with the setlist finally presented on disc more or less as it was conceived to be delivered onstage; when you think about it, that's absolutely fantastic.

The band return to the Odeon in 1977 for a barnstorming set which, along with some stray tracks from other venues rounding off the Live Record material. The 1977 Odeon show is the fullest document of the Rain Dances lineup live on this set, and it's absolutely superb. Between that and the tracks from Bristol and Leeds, the Rain Dances period ends up being the era of the band that's perhaps best-represented by live material here (with The Snow Goose period a close second).

Other live material in the collection includes a tightened-up reissue of the BBC session previously released as On the Road 1981 (including two tracks - Summer Lightning and Ice - not included on previous releases of the BBC session) and, lastly, a remaster of Pressure Points.

Most prog fans will have at least some of the material here - though the new mixes of Camel, Mirage, The Snow Goose, Moonmadness, and Nude are good enough to be worth dipping into (and the previous mixes are also presented so you can judge which you prefer) - but even Camel fanatics probably won't have all of it. If you've got significant gaps to fill in your Camel collection - or if the prospect of all those live goodies have you salivating - it's highly worthwhile, offering the lion's share of their output in one package.

Dwa lata po EP-ce Czerń, definiującej death metalowy kierunek poszukiwań, warszawski kwintet powraca z pełnometrażowym albumem 'Klątwa'. Technical progressive/avant-garde is a difficult genre to succeed in. In order to keep people coming back, you have to not sound like you're ripping off Gorguts, Ulcerate, DSO, or the likes. You have to incorporate your own twists and turns to make it sound unique to set you apart from the 3,000 other bands trying to sound dissonant and cool and simultaneously make it engaging so that people want to hear it again. Added upon those basic challenges of making good music is the challenge of succeeding in a genre that is already one of the least accessible genres of music while using compositional tools like dissonance that send even many metalheads running to the hills. More often than not, a band just ends up creating a wall of dissonant noise that only tires and bores the listener (cough, cough, Altarage), or gets their head stuck up their butt creating "atmusfeeric" noises (hey there, Blus Aut Nord) or just creates a lifeless ripoff of the genre's greats. But, every so often, a band will create a dissonant masterpiece, a testament to the ideals of creativity and thinking outside the box without ripping off Ulcerate or another dissonant legend. Bands like Pyrrhon, Gorguts (who's done it a lot), and Redemptor have made albums that are masterful, unique, jaw-dropping and unconventional. That pantheon is about to be joined by Ingurgitating Oblivion.

it's hard to describe these guys because they create a sound that's all their own on this release. Imagine Defeated Sanity taking Gorguts and Ulcerate pills by the gallon and lacing it with some DSO, Cynic, and Atheist. That’ll give you a 'basic' idea of what to expect.

The album kicks off with the song Amid the Offal, Abide With Me. The song starts off with 40 seconds of soft atmospheric noise, then kicks in with one of the best opening riffs I’ve heard before. That riff alone is worth talking about because it is the perfect example of how the album functions. It’s a groovy, dissonant riff that sounds not too different from something you would find in a BDM album. It’s a perfectly crafted riff that starts off on a crushing note than goes into some dissonant harmonies before descending into chaos. The song is the perfect example of how brutality and memorable yet innovative songwriting can work together to create something amazing. The song crashes and twists and writhes in an unpredictable, serpentine structure, laying down riff after riff. And frick are those riffs mouthwatering. The riffs alternate between groovy, technical and spazzed-out weird while remaining cold, dissonant, and almost catchy at times. Sometimes they will have a motif, or variations of the main riff, lead the song, which is great. By doing so, the allow the song to flow without sounding redundant. They only sound slightly like the original riff, but they make listening to the song much more immersive and easier to follow. The song ends with some very eerie, dissonant riffs and nice, jazzy drumming.

Th next song, a 22-minute behemoth, with an absurdly long title, is amazing. It starts off with a cool, jazzy dissonant part reminiscent of Atheist. The song then kicks in on a crushing note. What is enjoyable about this song is that this band knows that it’s okay to REPEAT a good riff more than once. This makes digesting the riff-tornado this song is much more enjoyable and more engaging. This song is one my favorites, packed full of good riffs. This song has the best balance of dissonance and more traditional BDM riffs and avant-garde progressive moments. The only complaint is that the atmospheric section at the end of the song is too long. But, thanks to the skip button, this can be bypassed without ruining the listening experience.

The title track is a monster. It’s one of the more varied tracks, fluctuating between heavy dissonant riffing interspersed with dissonant harmonies and proggy atmospheric sections. The song is unpredictable, yet it pulls your attention in constantly. The solos and harmonies create a stunning and coldly dissonant landscape. The drumming on this song is some of the most intense as well, and the way the vocalist uses his higher pitch rasps is very enjoyable. The piano section at the end is also really good. Most piano/acoustic sections in extreme metal are boring, predictable and don't really add to the song besides being a novelty. Here, though, it adds to the texture and mood progression and concludes it in an unpredictable yet extremely satisfying way.

The final track is probably the most divisive. I personally enjoyed the long, dissonant, jazzy jam, as it wasn't just some jazz being done to show that they're cool progressive guys. I feel like they use it to create moods, atmosphere, and feeling exceptionally well, though not everyone will enjoy it. The last two minutes or so are 'normal' death metal (at least by their standards) and concludes the song fantastically and energetically.

What makes this album so phenomenal is that while each track in itself is a masterpiece, yet all the songs flow into each other while being easily individually distinguishable. These guys create a genuinely engrossing and hypnotic quilt of mood, atmosphere, and textures together, and the album maintains this unique blend throughout the entire album without faltering. The riffs are absolutely amazing. The production fits the album's vision like a glove and is wonderfully balanced so that everything can be heard clearly. A special shoutout to the drummer: Lille Gruber takes this album to the next level. His drumming is ridiculously technical, smooth, and his fills are very creative and cool to listen to. The drumming never distracts from anything else going on though, serving to blend and enhance what's going on beautifully. His unique jazzy style and incredible brutal technicality, coupled with his penchant for endlessly creative fills, take this album to another level of perfection. No other drummer could have made the album as good with their drumming as Lille Gruber did on this album. Another shoutout to the vocalist, who sounds unique, and his growls carry their own distinctive personality. The nearest comparison would be a throatier, more in-your-face Steve Tucker.

If you haven't listened to this album, try it. A warning though: Go in with an open mind. This is an incredibly varied and eclectic album. It may take time to fully digest, but trust me, this album's magnificence will not be lost on you.

Reedycja klasycznej płyty z 1994 roku w wykonaniu amerykańskiego GUTTED. Intensywny, ciężki i miażdżący death metal!


Gutted z amerykańskiego Toledo to nowe wcielenie grupy Demi-God, którą w 1990 roku powołali do życia trzej bracia o nazwisku Ditch. W 1992 roku chłopaków naszło na zmianę szyldu, więc przeprowadzili ją gładko i po taniości – do tego stopnia, że demo Demi-God rozprowadzali pod tytułem… „Gutted”. W 1993 roku zespół dorobił się drugiej demówki, już z całkowicie nowymi utworami, która szybko zapewniła im kontrakt z Red Light Records. Na potrzeby nagrań debiutu bracia ściągnęli do składu starego znajomka, Billy’ego Millsa – to dzięki niemu materiał został wzbogacony o kilka solówek i zyskał na ogólnej gęstości.

Bleed For Us To Live to trzy kwadranse ciężkiego i krwistego death metalu, który — co zaskakujące, biorąc pod uwagę czas powstania tej płyty — wcale nie sprowadza się do bezczelnej zrzynki z co sławniejszych kapel. Oczywiście muzyka Gutted w żadnym stopniu nie jest oryginalna (a przynajmniej ja nie wychwyciłem tu nic naonczas odkrywczego), bo chłopaki lubią wpleść tu i ówdzie riff pod Cannibal Corpse albo Morbid Angel, zaś tempa i motoryka materiału są dość charakterystyczne dla Benediction czy Grave, a mimo to nie można im jednoznacznie zarzucić naśladownictwa. Zamiast konkurować z innymi w ilościach blastów i stopniu skomplikowania struktur, Amerykanie postawili na masywną ścianę dźwięku, raczej umiarkowane (choć urozmaicone) tempa i bardzo wyraźny groove. Muzycznej mielonce towarzyszy odpowiednio głęboki i czytelny wokal Marka.

Nagrywając debiut, zespół powtórzył wszystkie utwory z dema „Disease”, co mogłoby nie najlepiej świadczyć o jego kreatywności, gdyby nie to, że wszystkie zostały odrobinę podkręcone, uzupełnione nowymi solówkami i podane w nad wyraz dobrym brzmieniu. No i jest wśród nich „Death Before Dismember” – zdecydowanie największy hicior na płycie. Gdyby aż tak chwytliwych kawałków — czy ogólnie wybijających się fragmentów — było na Bleed For Us To Live więcej, muzyka na pewno mogłaby jeszcze szybciej zagnieździć się w pamięci, a tak mamy niemal monolit, z którym trzeba spędzić trochę czasu, żeby należycie poznać jego mocne strony. Tych na szczęście nie brakuje i dlatego debiut Gutted to porządna deathmetalowa uczta.

Bleed For Us To Live mogę śmiało polecić miłośnikom fachowo zagranej mielonki w amerykańskim stylu. Zespół braki oryginalności nadrabia jakością muzyki, więc po sesji z tym krążkiem nikt nie powinien czuć się zawiedziony. To klasyk, choć raczej przez małe „k”.

Shit, it's really hard to believe that such a devastating album remained so unnoticed and I myself haven't even heard of GUTTED until 2008! The only explanation I can find is that I'm not the only one, as this album must have had really shitty promotion at the time of its release. Real shame, as nowadays I can say it's one of the best (!!!!) death metal albums that came from the American scene at the time; it even equals such masterpieces as "Leprosy" or "Human Waste". From my first listen of "Bleed For us to Live" I was hooked, these claws from the cover caught my guts and ripped them unmercifully. Absolutely killer stuff.

Before this CD, GUTTED has released two demo tapes - first one "Into the Gates of Insanity" was pretty much weak and dull, but the second demo called "Disease" was a sign that this is a band to watch. The music was truly phenomenal and this debut album is just same, only with better production and even more killer songs. GUTTED hasn’t changed their style at all since that demo – actually “Bleed For Us To Live” is a natural successor of “Disease” and simply develops the style from it. Here’s the same catchiness, the same fantastic groove, massively brutal parts, mostly mid or slow paced, hardly ever really fast – but they did play some blasts, which just massacre like in “Chock Full of Guts”… Really lovely stuff.

GUTTED used the same RT Audio studio and they knew what they’re doing. This place gave them fantastic production and this album has even more brutal sound. You can hear it especially with the vocals, which seem to be bit more guttural. “Bleed For Us To Live” contains ten tracks in total – only few of them are really new, as there are basically all the hits from “Disease” demo. I must admit it was wise decision to put them here also, as these songs simply deserve to have place on a full length. New compositions aren’t any worse and kill with equal strength. Pure relentless force, with such amazing and memorable tunes as “Death Before Dismember”, “Skeletonized”.

Any surprises? Not really (hmm, maybe an acoustic fragments in “Flood of Blood”?). I love the way GUTTED composed their songs, with so many great ideas, many hooks, quality stuff and no fillers. All that created an amazing album, which I would never consider as boring. I could listen to it and listen forever, without any signs of boredom. I also like the titles of these tracks – truly classic for death metal like “Chock Full of Guts” or “Kickin’ the Corpse”, not to mention “Death Before Dismember”. Well, I guess I like everything about GUTTED. It is just a fuckin’ must to have. Hmm, the only complain I can think of is the way this album is released. I have a feeling that somehow the version of CD I have is a re-release done by the band, but it's done so poorly that it disappoints. No lyrics, no booklet, nothing what normally should come with such an album.

Reedycja klasycznej płyty z 1994 roku w wykonaniu amerykańskiego GUTTED. Intensywny, ciężki i miażdżący death metal!


Gutted z amerykańskiego Toledo to nowe wcielenie grupy Demi-God, którą w 1990 roku powołali do życia trzej bracia o nazwisku Ditch. W 1992 roku chłopaków naszło na zmianę szyldu, więc przeprowadzili ją gładko i po taniości – do tego stopnia, że demo Demi-God rozprowadzali pod tytułem… „Gutted”. W 1993 roku zespół dorobił się drugiej demówki, już z całkowicie nowymi utworami, która szybko zapewniła im kontrakt z Red Light Records. Na potrzeby nagrań debiutu bracia ściągnęli do składu starego znajomka, Billy’ego Millsa – to dzięki niemu materiał został wzbogacony o kilka solówek i zyskał na ogólnej gęstości.

Bleed For Us To Live to trzy kwadranse ciężkiego i krwistego death metalu, który — co zaskakujące, biorąc pod uwagę czas powstania tej płyty — wcale nie sprowadza się do bezczelnej zrzynki z co sławniejszych kapel. Oczywiście muzyka Gutted w żadnym stopniu nie jest oryginalna (a przynajmniej ja nie wychwyciłem tu nic naonczas odkrywczego), bo chłopaki lubią wpleść tu i ówdzie riff pod Cannibal Corpse albo Morbid Angel, zaś tempa i motoryka materiału są dość charakterystyczne dla Benediction czy Grave, a mimo to nie można im jednoznacznie zarzucić naśladownictwa. Zamiast konkurować z innymi w ilościach blastów i stopniu skomplikowania struktur, Amerykanie postawili na masywną ścianę dźwięku, raczej umiarkowane (choć urozmaicone) tempa i bardzo wyraźny groove. Muzycznej mielonce towarzyszy odpowiednio głęboki i czytelny wokal Marka.

Nagrywając debiut, zespół powtórzył wszystkie utwory z dema „Disease”, co mogłoby nie najlepiej świadczyć o jego kreatywności, gdyby nie to, że wszystkie zostały odrobinę podkręcone, uzupełnione nowymi solówkami i podane w nad wyraz dobrym brzmieniu. No i jest wśród nich „Death Before Dismember” – zdecydowanie największy hicior na płycie. Gdyby aż tak chwytliwych kawałków — czy ogólnie wybijających się fragmentów — było na Bleed For Us To Live więcej, muzyka na pewno mogłaby jeszcze szybciej zagnieździć się w pamięci, a tak mamy niemal monolit, z którym trzeba spędzić trochę czasu, żeby należycie poznać jego mocne strony. Tych na szczęście nie brakuje i dlatego debiut Gutted to porządna deathmetalowa uczta.

Bleed For Us To Live mogę śmiało polecić miłośnikom fachowo zagranej mielonki w amerykańskim stylu. Zespół braki oryginalności nadrabia jakością muzyki, więc po sesji z tym krążkiem nikt nie powinien czuć się zawiedziony. To klasyk, choć raczej przez małe „k”.

Shit, it's really hard to believe that such a devastating album remained so unnoticed and I myself haven't even heard of GUTTED until 2008! The only explanation I can find is that I'm not the only one, as this album must have had really shitty promotion at the time of its release. Real shame, as nowadays I can say it's one of the best (!!!!) death metal albums that came from the American scene at the time; it even equals such masterpieces as "Leprosy" or "Human Waste". From my first listen of "Bleed For us to Live" I was hooked, these claws from the cover caught my guts and ripped them unmercifully. Absolutely killer stuff.

Before this CD, GUTTED has released two demo tapes - first one "Into the Gates of Insanity" was pretty much weak and dull, but the second demo called "Disease" was a sign that this is a band to watch. The music was truly phenomenal and this debut album is just same, only with better production and even more killer songs. GUTTED hasn’t changed their style at all since that demo – actually “Bleed For Us To Live” is a natural successor of “Disease” and simply develops the style from it. Here’s the same catchiness, the same fantastic groove, massively brutal parts, mostly mid or slow paced, hardly ever really fast – but they did play some blasts, which just massacre like in “Chock Full of Guts”… Really lovely stuff.

GUTTED used the same RT Audio studio and they knew what they’re doing. This place gave them fantastic production and this album has even more brutal sound. You can hear it especially with the vocals, which seem to be bit more guttural. “Bleed For Us To Live” contains ten tracks in total – only few of them are really new, as there are basically all the hits from “Disease” demo. I must admit it was wise decision to put them here also, as these songs simply deserve to have place on a full length. New compositions aren’t any worse and kill with equal strength. Pure relentless force, with such amazing and memorable tunes as “Death Before Dismember”, “Skeletonized”.

Any surprises? Not really (hmm, maybe an acoustic fragments in “Flood of Blood”?). I love the way GUTTED composed their songs, with so many great ideas, many hooks, quality stuff and no fillers. All that created an amazing album, which I would never consider as boring. I could listen to it and listen forever, without any signs of boredom. I also like the titles of these tracks – truly classic for death metal like “Chock Full of Guts” or “Kickin’ the Corpse”, not to mention “Death Before Dismember”. Well, I guess I like everything about GUTTED. It is just a fuckin’ must to have. Hmm, the only complain I can think of is the way this album is released. I have a feeling that somehow the version of CD I have is a re-release done by the band, but it's done so poorly that it disappoints. No lyrics, no booklet, nothing what normally should come with such an album.

Wydany w 1970 roku (a nie w 1969 - jak podają niektóre źródła), jedyny, za to rewelacyjny album amerykańskiej formacji o czadowym, gitarowo-organowym, niemal progresywnym (m.in. melotron), brytyjskim brzmieniu.
Aż nie chce się wierzyć, że kilka lat potem dwóch muzyków tej grupy założyło raczej mierny Cheap Trick. To jest album z tej samej półki co debiut Captain Beyond, pierwsze płyty Bloodrock, czy drugi album Damnation Of Adam Blessing.
Dodatkowo dwa nagrania z dość przeciętnego singla z 1969 roku.
