Najnowszy materiał mrocznej crustpunkowej ekipy ze Szwecji!

Sweden's Warcollapse release this new 2021 EP, "Bound To Die."
Warcollapse play heavy crust with a thick sound that very much is in the tradition and style which was established in the 1990s in Sweden by bands such as themselves. They were one of the integral bands of the great '90s Swedish crust scene (releasing their debut EP in 1993) which included the likes of 3 Way Cum, Bombraid, Counterblast, Dismachine, Dispense, Dom Där, Sauna, Tolshock, Totalitär, and a slew of others. Although probably best known for their pair of split 7"s with Disrupt and Extinction of Mankind released back in 1994, they've consistently recorded and released new material throughout their time as a band. This newest EP picks up right where they'd previously left off and is sure to be of interest to both old and new fans.

Naprawdę długą drogę przeszła niemiecka formacja RPWL od swoich początków naznaczonych kowerowaniem Pink Floyd po dzień dzisiejszy. W dalszym ciągu oczywiście ich muzyka ma bardzo Floydowy posmak, który jest często bazą dla wielu kompozycji. A jednak to już od długiego czasu formacja o mocnej pozycji i przede wszystkim sporym pomyśle na siebie. Ich najnowsze wydawnictwo jest tego najlepszym dowodem.

A New Dawn to trzeci w historii grupy pełnowymiarowy materiał koncertowy zapisany na DVD. Swoją drogą, grupa wykazuje się w tym względzie wyjątkową regularnością publikując je co cztery lata. I dobrze, bowiem każde z nich (ponadto The RPWL Live Experience i A Show Beyond Man And Time) pokazuje zespół w odpowiednim miejscu swojej historii i przy okazji praktycznie nie powiela kompozycji.

A New Dawn dokumentuje wyjątkowy koncert grupy z 31 października 2015 roku w Luitpoldhalle w ich rodzinnym Freising, kiedy to artyści zaprezentowali rockowy koncert mający w sobie elementy spektaklu i wydarzenia multimedialnego. Całość zbudowano głównie na podstawie ostatniego koncepcyjnego albumu Niemców Wanted, któremu Yogi Lang, jego twórca, nadał wręcz filozoficzny wymiar. Przypomnę, że Wanted to koncept, dla którego punktem wyjścia stały się poglądy Platona na wolność. I właśnie pytania o wolność człowieka, współczesny styl życia, czy rolę religii w nim padają. A ponieważ Wanted jest kontynuacją, opartego na dziele Fryderyka Nietzschego Tako rzecze Zaratustra, albumu Beyond Man and Time, w odgrywane po kolei utwory z Wanted wpleciono dwudziestominutowy The Fisherman z pochodzącego z 2012 roku krążka.

Rozmach przedsięwzięcia naprawdę imponuje. Na scenie, oprócz muzyków, pojawia się około pięćdziesięciu aktorów i statystów. Wypełniona po brzegi sala, duża scena z trzema sporymi ekranami, na których wyświetlane są filmy i animacje, narrator, chór, z pietyzmem zaplanowane stroje, elementy symbolicznie podkreślające wymowę konceptu, choreografia, sprawny montaż – wszystko to określa impet i zaangażowanie twórców w całość projektu.

Żeby była jasność, nie jest to pierwsze doświadczenie muzyków z tego typu widowiskiem. Przypomnę, że wspomniane A Show Beyond Man And Time, nagrane zresztą 22 lutego 2013 roku w Teatrze Śląskim w Katowicach, też miało taki charakter, jednak tym razem muzycy skoczyli o poziom wyżej. Oczywiście, zwolennicy bardziej tradycyjnej formy koncertowej mogą ponarzekać, że częste narracje zakłócają dramaturgię rockowego koncertu. Dla mnie jednak, dzięki temu poszczególne kompozycje zyskują. Przyznam otwarcie, że odkryłem muzycznie Wanted na nowo, choć do tej pory sam album nie poruszał mnie jakoś wyjątkowo.

W dodatkach dostajemy jeszcze zagraną wówczas na bis kompozycję Unchain The Earth (w wersji CD i LP jest jeszcze piękne Hole in The Sky), klip do utworu Swords And Guns oraz klasyczny film Making of. Warto zauważyć, że do wyboru mamy narrację w języku niemieckim i angielskim. Całość ukazała się w kilku formatach: DVD, Blu-ray, 2CD i 3LP a nawet w bardzo atrakcyjnym, limitowanym i kolekcjonerskim boksie wraz z gadżetami, w tym z tabletką Veritas Forte, o działaniu której więcej można się dowiedzieć oglądając A New Dawn.

Lata 90. były bogate w kapitalne dźwięki na polskiej scenie metalowej . W 1996 roku Trauma wydała debiut, który często określa się mianem kroku milowego polskiego death metalu, w tym samym roku działalność rozpoczął Decapitated, a rok wcześniej Vader wydał kvltowy krążek De Profundis.

Po reedycji demówki Invisible Reality polskiej death metalowej formacji Trauma przyszedł czas na odświeżenie kolejnego materiału. Tym razem dostajemy debiutancki krążek grupy z Elbląga, czyli Comedy is Over (pierwotnie wydany w 1996r. na kasecie oraz w 2000r. na CD). Wydawnictwo otrzymało całkowicie nową, i co należy wspomnieć, przede wszystkim piękną oprawę graficzną, za którą odpowiada Piotr Szafraniec. W booklecie znajdziemy przejrzyste teksty utworów oraz kilka zespołowych fotografii, a cały jewelcase oprawiony jest dodatkowym slipcase’m. Również warstwa muzyczna zyskała „ducha”, bowiem jeden z najlepszych producentów w Polsce – Haldor Grunberg (Satanic Audio) zajął się ponownym masteringiem.

Na płycie nie brakuje wpadających w ucho melodii, jak i ekwilibrystycznych solówek. Relief rozpoczyna niemal balladowa gitara w wersji „clean”, w której w dalszych momentach mamy do czynienia z death/doomowymi zagrywkami oraz progresywnym zawodzeniem gitar. Brutalny wydźwięk podkreśla świetnie słyszalna gitara basowa. Kompozycyjnie tytułowy utwór Comedy Is Over to coś niesamowitego. W tym utworze się tyle dzieje, początek niczym Candlemass, który potem przeradza się w prawdziwy śmierć metal (głównie w średnich tempach) z heavy metalowymi solówkami (ta w 6-tej minucie to istna miazga) oraz chrypliwym wokalem. Czuć, że chłopaki mieli głowę pełną pomysłów.
Muzyka zawarta na tej płycie to nie taki znowu czysty death metal, a progressive death metal (z elementami technicznego) ze względu na złożoną strukturę utworów, ciekawostką są również lekkie klawiszowe wstawki. W niejednym miejscu na płycie, a przede wszystkim w utworze Naked Truth czuć inspiracje zespołem Death. Jak Intro było ciekawym zabiegiem i nie rzadkim motywem w tamtych latach, tak Outro jest totalnie zbyteczne, tym bardziej że po nim następuje bonusowy kawałek Perfection w nowej odsłonie.

Niejedna osoba ucieszy się faktem możliwości posiadania tego albumu, choć na pewno nie zabraknie hordy głosów i pytań retorycznych „kiedy nowy materiał?”. Ale czemu nie umilić sobie tego czekania, słuchając reedycji starego materiału? Ja teraz czekam na Suffocated in Slumber.

The „Comedy Is Over” is undoubtedly a milestone for Polish Death Metal scene. Released in 1996, it was way ahead of its time by its musical visionary, compositional bravery and, despite a debut, maturity in arrangements as well as uncommon lyrics.

The album received plenty of good words, being reviewed by the biggest magazines worldwide. But the issue was that it couldn’t be bought anywhere for more than 15 years… until now.

The Dreadnoughts to kanadyjski zespół celtic punk rockowy, założony w 2006 roku w Vancouver. Początkowo The Dreadnoughts prezentowało melodyjne połączenie szant z muzyką punk rockową, ale z biegiem czasu w nagraniach formacji pojawiało się dużo naleciałości z krajów takich jak Ukraina, Polska, Rosja czy Niemcy a grupa często sięgała po melodie ze znanych oberków, polek czy kujawiaków. Zespół wielokrotnie koncertował w Polsce, odbywając w 2010 i 2011 roku trasy koncertowe po wielu dużych i mniejszych miastach w kraju. Wstawka zawiera siódmy album studyjny zespołu.
