To już czwarta płyta grupy Profeci, a towarzyszymy temu zespołowi od początku w zasadzie. Nie ukrywam, że lubię tych Poznaniaków – ich muzyka siadła mi już od samego początku i debiutu „Matecznik”.

A jeszcze bardziej lubię obserwować jak zespół się rozwija, co akurat ma miejsce w przypadku Profetów (bo chyba tak się to odmienia, co nie?). Na „Trosce” zespół eksploruje rejony na które zapuścił się już przy okazji wcześniejszych materiałów – nie robi tego jednak w sposób kategoryczny, a raczej krok po kroku przesuwa granice. Stwarza to wrażenie konsekwentnego, ale i kontrolowanego badania swoich możliwości kompozycyjnych na niwie black metalu. Ot, dodadzą więcej czystych wokali lub zaaranżują je w nieco odmienny niż dotychczas sposób (jak w „Niepokoje”). Albo instrumentalnie popłyną jeszcze dalej w stronę… progresji? Eksperymentu? Nazwijcie to jak chcecie, ale nie jest to typowy black metal, który można łatwo przypisać na zasadzie „druga fala z Norwegii”. To znaczy – jest to black metal w pełnym znaczeniu tego słowa, choć spozierający gdzieś dalej, poza ramy gatunku. I wbrew tego, co możecie sobie sądzić – „Troska” wypada w ostatecznym rozrachunku bardzo spójnie. Szczególnie, że klamrą która spina wszystkie kompozycje jest jakieś uczucie smutku, melancholii – a może to mój obecny nastrój tak wpływa na odbiór tej płyty?

Po wielu odsłuchach (naprawdę wielu) stwierdzam też, że „Troska” pod względem artystycznym w niczym nie ustępuje poprzednim krążkom. Profeci dostarczyli materiał wciągający i intrygujący – jak dla mnie po prostu ciekawy i bardzo dobry. I trochę szkoda, że w dalszym ciągu egzystują sobie gdzieś trochę na uboczu sceny, mimo że wydawani są niezmiennie od początku przez jeden z najlepszych podziemnych labeli w ogóle. Ja im niezmiennie kibicuję i polecam Wam sprawdzenie ich czwartego longpleja.

The cover of Profeci's newest album, "Troska", depicts something not often seen in the metal scene, let alone in black metal. According to the all-knowing Metal Archives, however, that's the genre Profeci plays. We can see some flowers attached to the tree, a crucifix, and an image of Black Madonna, which holds great value to Polish Catholics. On a side note, the monastery in Częstochowa, where this icon is placed, is beautiful, regardless of religious beliefs. So, after all, a conclusion can be made that "Troska" won't be the most misanthropic, hateful output one will hear. And this time, the artwork suggests what to expect and what not to expect.

At the music's core, obviously, lies black metal, since the guitars excel at alarming-sounding tremolo-picked riffs that craft the atmosphere. While not bursting with hatred, it focuses more on introspection and anxiety, with a hint of hope somewhere at the end. The dominant role is taken by the vocalist, whose performance is multifaceted; one could even say theatrical. At times, he furiously shouts, as though he were releasing agony from the depths of his soul, and at other times he can be heard singing cleanly, for instance at the end of "Niepokoje", which is a surprising turn in the nature of the album. "Opiekun", which also happens to feature clean singing, is definitely a highlight of the album because its melancholic ending section easily sticks in one's memory. Profeci also shines when it comes to the songwriting - every piece of music is easily distinguishable from the others, and the whole album has, as I said, many surprising twists and turns which might take one aback. Simultaneously, all the pieces feel connected, and none of them feels out of place. Moreover, the album features several acoustic guitar interludes, which add to the overall melancholic and introspective substance of the music, for example, close to the end of "Niepokoje". Frantic, faster moments, where prominent drumwork can be heard, can be found in songs such as "Kształt sugeruje człowieka" and balance the softness of the aforementioned acoustic guitar parts.

"Nic poza nimi" and "Potem znowu jest góra" happen to be those tracks where the leading role is taken by the guitars, making the atmosphere quite dense and evoking the feelings of anxiety and even a bit of nostalgia with their melodic guitar lines. The former song, lasting only three minutes, especially exposes the feeling of distress with exuberant vocals and guitar lines. Speaking of the vocals, as I said before, the vocals could be described as theatrical, because of the common use of melodic recitation, cleaner vocals, as well as more black metal-fitting shout-meets-growl outbursts. What suited me was the fact that every word was easily understandable, which happens quite rarely when it comes to the music I usually listen to. Unfortunately for some, the lyrics are fully in Polish. The guitars mostly drive the album with tremolo-picked melodies, varying in character, although not feeling out of tune. Even the bass guitar is audible, highlighting the quality of the mix.

While personally I am a fan of more hateful and misanthropic music, I cannot hide the impression "Troska" left on me. I didn't have high hopes for the album, and despite the fact that it's probably not necessarily the type of music I find myself best in, it still managed to capture my attention enough to make me perplexed throughout the 35 minutes of the music. Therefore, I give it 8.3/10, because although I thought my preference for a certain type of music is strong, this album made me more open-minded. Recommended for those who aren't scared of occasional clean vocals or music that doesn't involve blasphemy, destruction, and all evil incarnate.

UWAGA! To nie jest kolejna wersja debiutu słynnego, brytyjskiego zespołu, ale nowa, europejska, limitowana i nareszcie świetnie brzmiąca reedycja rewelacyjnego, debiutanckiego albumu amerykańskiej formacji (na wzór Jefferson Airplane) wykorzystującą męskie i żeńskie wokale! Wydany przez wytwórnię Mercury we wrześniu 1968 roku, niestety jedyny album grającego ambitnego i zróżnicowanego psychodelicznego rocka z elementami folku (absolutnie genialny, ozdobiony mrocznym brzmieniem wiolonczeli i skrzypiec, cudownie i przejmująco zaśpiewany 'Gloomy Sunday' - jedna z moich najbardziej ulubionych piosenek wszech czasów i zarazem - w oryginalnej, węgierskiej wersji z 1933 roku odpowiedzialna za ponad... 100 samobójstw!), delikatnej, melodyjnej ballady ('Suzanne' - baaardzo wczesny 'cover' z repertuaru Leonarda Cohena), ale też ciężkich brzmień spod znaku Cream i Hendrixa (rozbudowany, pełen dynamicznych, gitarowych improwizacji a jednocześnie wpadający w ucho, 16-minutowy 'The World Without You'; czy wreszcie otwierający płytę, chwilami niemal proto metalowy, naprawdę ciężki, choć delikatnie zaśpiewany 'Angeline')! Za wyjątkiem krótkiego i zaledwie dobrego Mary, Mary - całość jest doskonała! TO zawsze była jedna z moich najbardziej ulubionych płyt z kręgu amerykańskiego psychodelicznego rocka! There are doubtlessly plenty of other highly interesting ties to the LA garage and incipient hippie-metal scenes to be found in Genesis' past, too. Music-wise, In The Beginning hints at a proto-metallic bent with some heavier-edged riffs, but opts for melody rather than the sloppy ferocity of its heavier contemporaries.

In The Beginning opens with "Angeline," one of the album's heavier tracks, which features churning riffs and wailing solos as a backdrop for male-female harmonies. Less aggressive songs like "Suzanne" recall the softly sung, sometimes spooky and sentimental harmonies of The Mamas and The Papas, and the lyrics pretty much run the gamut of standard flower child imagery.

The blues-tinged "What's It All About?" and the 16-minute "Girl Who Never Was" are where the album hits its stride, resembling Cream, or pretty much any band doing a heavy take on the blues. It wouldn't be out of place to draw a musical comparison to a more jam-centric Led Zeppelin at points. This makes perfect sense; if you doubt the influence of the West Coast psych scene on really early British metal, listen to Spirit's “Taurus,” then the intro to “Stairway to Heaven,” and watch your classic rockin', Jimmy Page-idolizin' world unravel.

To nie jest kolejna wersja debiutu słynnego, brytyjskiego zespołu, ale nowa, europejska, limitowana i nareszcie świetnie brzmiąca reedycja rewelacyjnego, debiutanckiego albumu amerykańskiej formacji (na wzór Jefferson Airplane) wykorzystującą męskie i żeńskie wokale! Wydany przez wytwórnię Mercury we wrześniu 1968 roku, niestety jedyny album grającego ambitnego i zróżnicowanego psychodelicznego rocka z elementami folku (absolutnie genialny, ozdobiony mrocznym brzmieniem wiolonczeli i skrzypiec, cudownie i przejmująco zaśpiewany 'Gloomy Sunday' - jedna z moich najbardziej ulubionych piosenek wszech czasów i zarazem - w oryginalnej, węgierskiej wersji z 1933 roku odpowiedzialna za ponad... 100 samobójstw!), delikatnej, melodyjnej ballady ('Suzanne' - baaardzo wczesny 'cover' z repertuaru Leonarda Cohena), ale też ciężkich brzmień spod znaku Cream i Hendrixa (rozbudowany, pełen dynamicznych, gitarowych improwizacji a jednocześnie wpadający w ucho, 16-minutowy 'The World Without You'; czy wreszcie otwierający płytę, chwilami niemal proto metalowy, naprawdę ciężki, choć delikatnie zaśpiewany 'Angeline')! Za wyjątkiem krótkiego i zaledwie dobrego Mary, Mary - całość jest doskonała! TO zawsze była jedna z moich najbardziej ulubionych płyt z kręgu amerykańskiego psychodelicznego rocka! Oto prawdziwy rekord – zespół ZWŁOKI po 37 (!) latach wydaje swoją PIERWSZĄ (!) OFICJALNĄ (!) PŁYTĘ (!).
Faktycznie trudno uwierzyć, bo od dawna przecież pod nazwą ZWŁOKI różne nagrania, z różnych czasów i w różnych wersjach krążą. Już w początkach działalności, zakończonej nagle w połowie 1982 r., kilka utworów Zwłok nagrało na żywo z koncertu (w 1981), potem w studio (1982) wrocławskie radio i nawet lokalna telewizja (!, też w 1982, ale wizja się nie zachowała), a przetrwały, bo jednak komuś podczas którejś z paru zaledwie radiowych emisji udawało się je wtedy jakoś nagrać z domowych radioodbiorników na swoje szpulowce czy kaseciaki. W samym radiu niestety już nie przetrwały. Było też nagrywanie z ręki na koncertach, dalej przegrywanie z magnetofonu na magnetofon, aż po latach zestawy tak różnie zdobywanych nagrań ich badacze i zbieracze własnym kosztem, pomysłem i przemysłem wydawali czasem i puszczali w obieg na amatorskich kasetach czy później już w 90-tych latach – też na CD. Do tego jeszcze na kasetowych składankach w latach 90-tych XX w. pod nazwą Zwłoki pojawiło się również kilka nowych studyjnych nagrań znanych utworów niedziałającego już wówczas od lat zespołu i to wprawdzie nawet z udziałem samego ‘Skutera’ czy Magilli ale jednak bez aprobaty pozostałych współtwórców grupy. Poza tym utwory znane do dziś przede wszystkim z repertuaru Zwłok, m.in. zamieszczone na tej płycie, w latach 80-tych grały również następne zespoły tworzone przez ‘Skutera’, jak ULICA, DTV/Dziennik Telewizyjny, czy też jego wcześniejsza formacja TWARZ PEDAŁA, z której wraz z utworami przeszedł w 1981 do Zwłok. Już od wznowienia działalności zespołu ZWŁOKI, do którego – z udziałem trzech muzyków najbardziej znanego, historycznego składu: Wiesława Kopaczyńskiego - ‘Kubła’, Cezarego Kamienkowa - ‘Skutera’ i Jacka Kosińskiego 'Magilli' – doszło po równo 30 latach, w 2012 r., przy okazji realizacji dokumentalnego filmu o wrocławskiej niezależnej scenie muzycznej „Za to, że żyjemy, czyli punk w wRocka”, był także plan nagrania oficjalnej płyty. Zamiary i podejścia trwały, ale tymczasem ukazywały się jedynie nasze CD i DVD z nagraniami z koncertów, otwartych prób, historycznych archiwaliów, w limitowanych, raczej kolekcjonerskich nakładach. Aż do teraz.

Celtas Cortos to hiszpański zespół muzyczny założony w 1986 roku w Valladolid. Grupa zasłynęła oryginalnym połączeniem rocka, folku celtyckiego, muzyki tradycyjnej oraz elementów ska i popu. Charakterystyczne dla ich brzmienia są skrzypce, flet i dudy zestawione z gitarami elektrycznymi oraz energetycznym rytmem.
