FAM (Furor Arma Ministrat) powstał w 2005 roku z inicjatywy Darka Młodego i Stokera, członków DISSENTER. Pierwszy materiał zatytułowany Panzergrind EP został nagrany w 2006 roku. Debiutancki album Bullet(in) ukazał się w 2007 roku dzięki singapurskiej wytwórni Scrotum Jus Records.
Kolejne wydawnictwo, nagrane w nowym składzie, to split CD Radical Circus Team z Nuclear Vomit i Grindbashers (Let It Bleed Records) z 2013.
Rok 2016 przyniósł kolejny pełny album Human Cargo wydany w Deformeathing Production. Formed in 2005 by Darek Młody and Stoker, both members of DISSENTER, FAM (Furor Arma Ministrat) quickly established themselves within the underground extreme metal scene. Their first recording, the Panzergrind EP, was completed in 2006, followed by the debut album Bullet(in) in 2007 through Singapore-based Scrotum Jus Records.
In 2013, a revamped lineup recorded the split CD Radical Circus Team alongside Nuclear Vomit and Grindbashers, released by Let It Bleed Records. Three years later, FAM returned with their second full-length effort, Human Cargo, issued by Deformeathing Production.
FAM's third full-length album, Fascinated About Mortality, was recorded at PanzerStudio in Myszków and released shortly before the global pandemic in 2019.
The year 2025 marked a significant milestone for the band. Their long sold-out debut album Bullet(in) was reissued by High Voltage Production, featuring a brand-new mix and newly recorded vocals. The release also included a previously unreleased Dead Infection cover as a bonus track. The reissue premiered at the Injure Grind Attack Festival, where FAM celebrated twenty years of activity. Around the same time, the band released another split CD through FatAss Records, this time with Death Endorser. The release featured two new studio tracks, cover versions of Parricide and Impetigo, and three live recordings.
Recorded once again at PanzerStudio in Myszków, Pleasure Of Torture captures FAM in a new lineup and delivers ten tracks of uncompromising grind-infused brutal death metal, alongside a cover of Necrophil. The album will be released through Selfmadegod Records later this year.
Throughout their career, FAM has performed extensively across Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Germany, while also appearing at renowned extreme metal festivals such as Obscene Extreme Festival and Nice To Eat You Deathfest and have shared the stage with some of the most respected names in extreme metal, including Napalm Death, Suffocation, Anaal Nathrakh, Sinister, Incantation, Defeated Sanity, Benighted, Fleshcrawl, and Rotten Sound.
Drummer Darek Młody and guitarist Nelek are also known for their involvement in Squash Bowels.

Supertramp to angielski zespół rockowy prezentujący w swej twórczości elementy progresywnego rocka, hard rocka i soft rocka. Grupa powstała w 1969 roku w Londynie. Formacja nadal nagrywa i koncertuje. Grateful Dead to jeden z czołowych przedstawicieli hipisowskiego rocka. Choć na późniejszych albumach zespół odszedł od grania psychodelii, właśnie z nią najbardziej jest kojarzony. Podobnie jak 13th Floor Elevators, muzycy Wdzięcznego Nieboszczyka próbowali oddać swoją muzyką stan po zażyciu środków psychoaktywnych. Ich debiutancki album, "The Grateful Dead", jest pod tym względem jeszcze dość zachowawczy. Psychodelii tu stosunkowo niewiele, obecna jest głównie za sprawą organowego tła w części utworów. Zdecydowanie przeważa tu granie o bluesrockowym charakterze.

Longplay w znacznym stopniu składa się z przeróbek cudzych kompozycji. Muzycy sięgnęli zarówno po popularne bluesowe standardy, jak "Sitting on Top of the World" Mississippi Sheiks, czy "Good Morning, Little School Girl" Sonny'ego Boya Williamsona (później nagrane przez, odpowiednio, Cream i Ten Years After, w bardziej rockowych wersjach), jak i do dorobku zapomnianego jugbandowego muzyka Noaha Lewisa, z którego wybrali aż dwie kompozycje - "New, New Minglewood Blues" i "Viola Lee Blues". Watro na chwilę zatrzymać się przy tym ostatnim utworze. Rozbudowany do dziesięciu minut, wzbogacony długą częścią instrumentalną ze świetnymi popisami gitarzystów o jamowym charakterze, jest próbą odtworzenia w studiu tego, co grupa prezentowała podczas koncertów. Trzeci duży album długodystansowców z Włoch. 14 utworów brutalnego death/grind!

Dla fanów CATTLE DECAPITATION, CARCASS, wczesnego NAPALM DEATH...


Ostatnimi czasy docierają do mnie z Półwyspu Apenińskiego coraz to ciekawsze wydawnictwa tamtejszych zespołów, dzięki którym moja opinia o przeciętności włoskiej sceny powoli, acz sukcesywnie zostaje weryfikowana in plus niej samej. Niedawno zachwyciłem się grind death metalowym GRIMNES 69 i nomen omen CADAVERIC CREMATORIUM stylistycznie obraca się w bardzo podobnych klimatach ze wskazaniem na zdecydowaną przewagę grindu. "Grindpeace" zawiera 12 kompozycji ostrego, rytmicznego łamacza kości, mocno zainspirowanego klasykami gatunku oraz mniej amerykańskimi kombinatorami skupionymi wokół RELAPSE. Generalnie koledzy nie wiele odkrywczego do gatunku nie wnoszą, natomiast w nim samym poruszają się z wyjątkową łatwością i polotem, mówiąc krótko czują się jak ryby w wodzie. Wyjątkowo długie, jak na grindowe kanony, kompozycje, silnie zróżnicowane rytmicznie, okraszone przeróżnymi samplami o dużej dawce humoru i krwistą merytoryką. Wszystko osadzone na death metalowych strukturach aranżacyjnych, z wysuniętymi do przodu mięsistymi gitarami, które chwilami wręcz wbijają swoim brzmieniem słuchacza w ziemię. Przyzwoicie mieszająca sekcja rytmiczna o bardzo dynamicznej pracy perkusji połączonej z grzmiącym basem to również poważny atut w kwestii instrumentalnych możliwości zespołu. Ponadto mamy oczywiście wokale przeróżnej maści i urody, czyli wrzaski, growle, prosiaki, ale niekoniecznie ekstrema?.Chociażby zaskakujący tenor czy chór w "Nessun Muoia". Obowiązkowo materiał wzbogacony o cały arsenał, piardów, smarków, rzygowin i innych gastro - fekalnych klimatów, mogący odstraszyć, co bardziej wrażliwych. Różnorodny i pomysłowy materiał o klarownej produkcji powinien bezwątpienia przypaść do gustu miłośnikom zarówno mocno rozrywkowego hałasu, jak również bardziej inteligentnych form dzikiego napierdalania. Jak słychać, widać i czuć Włosi postawili na uniwersalizm oraz otwartość swoich potencjalnych odbiorców, co bez dwóch zdań wszystkim zainteresowanym powinno wyjść na zdrowie. Jeżeli o mnie chodzi zostałem w pełni zaspokojony!!! Wysłuchałem płyty kilkakrotnie, kilka fragmentów zanuciłem przy goleniu i jeszcze wiele razy wrócę do tej płyty?..Jest moc, są jaja, a przede wszystkim mnóstwo polotu?.Nie, nie zanudziłem się tym materiałem, bo cóż więcej mogą chcieć tygrysy?!

Psychozine

This act are a product of the influx of creativity and genius that captured the Italian death metal scene in the late-90’s/early-00’s, and produced some of the greatest technical/progressive metal outfits ever: Gory Blister, Coram Lethe, Psychofagist, Aydra, Karnak (their extension Goldenseed as well), Murder Therapy, etc. CC differed from the batch mostly due to their penchant for including less restrained grindcore elements into their death metal dish although there was nothing overtly outrageous akin to the early Napalm Death atrocities, for example; it was highly sophisticated, technical stuff even on the marginally less polished debut which came out a few months after the Czechs T.O.O.H.’s “From Higher Will”, the ultimate technical grind/death hybrid, the highest point in the annals of extreme (un)controlled musical chaos.

The sophomore boasted much better production qualities, and with an increased musical swagger, more influences from other styles, and more complex labyrinthine structures the band nearly hit the top although grindcore wasn’t such a tangible presence anymore regardless of the title. On the album reviewed here it doesn’t quite come back with full force, but the band obviously prefer slightly misleading album-titles, also showing their infatuation with their roots this way. “Necropolis Pt.1” is an awesome opener also being way longer than the staple material featured on the guys’ works, lasting for over 5-min. Not to worry as the chaos is complete with sharp chainsaw-like riffs flying from all sides, racing with the speed of light, with frequent slower breakdowns creating a lot of drama alongside more moderate thrashy sections this eventful cavalcade supervised by screamy deathy vocals that nearly reach the point of hysteria at times, changing the pitch from lower guttural to higher black-ish in no time, adding more to the over-the-top dramatic colouring of this composition. It’s interesting to note that despite the presence of the traditional short outbursts the band continue to stick to longer, more complex cuts one of which is “B.B.Q.”, a great reminder of Carcass’ legendary “Necroticism…” with the twisted riffage and the abrupt time and tempo shifts.

“Big Show” is a more optimistic, more frolic piece with thrash/crossover shades, but “Matando el Torero” cancels those stripped-down attempts with a portion of dazzling super-technical crescendos reaching Necrophagist-esque heights for a while there; the talent exhibited is admirable with some bizarre operatic singing thrown on top of the closing doomy exit. The masterpieces keep coming, though, “The Butcher, Chapter One” another stylish nod to mid-period Carcass with the interesting melodic embellishments and the eccentric twists and turns; and “Human Bucher and the Living Dead” is a fine galloper initially before pounding strokes come crawling, in their turn superseded by superb mazey intricate rifforamas the latter’s complexity relieved by several more linear speedy excursions towards the end. “Subunderground” comes marching with heavy doomy rhythms for a start before the technical wizardry is unleashed although the slower, more standard interruptions are more regular here. The title-track is the last technical “mad hatter” the band playing around with more flexible rhythms changing the pace more frequently, not relying on speed so much.

The band haven’t betrayed their staple sound, and by making some of the tracks longer they’ve managed to focus on more elaborate configurations which to these ears work better than the short electric shocks that seemed to dominate the landscape earlier. Now the blend between the two sides ensures more fun as the delivery does come close to the mentioned T.O.O.H. opus although the side influences here are more, recalling acts like Avulsed and Cattle Decapitation as well, and the Italians’ agenda is not exactly to pummel the listener into a most technical, hyper-puzzling oblivion. The more orthodox moments are always around as well as the obligatory references to the old masters of the hybrid (Carcass, above all) those used wisely without blocking the natural flow of the guys’ individualistic creative stream.

“One of Them”, which appeared four years later, was indeed “one of them”, a logical follow-up to the CC saga which saw the band rising in stature with four high quality albums featured in their resume. One more of the kind would place them right below Sadist in their homeland… yeah, seriously; there’s no reason why a talented bunch like these lads from Brescia, Lombardy, wouldn’t reach the top as long as they don’t get distracted with other projects like Solid Noise, for instance, a power/thrash metal formation with which a few of the guys are involved at present. Not much noise has been made from this camp (one full-length in 2004) yet, and it will stay that way until all the crematoria in Italy, and not only, get filled up with resting in peace cadavers torn to shreds by downpours of cruel, shredding, death/grinding dexterity.

May Blitz. Majowe Bombardowanie. Dla nas określenie raczej enigmatyczne, niewiele mówiące, zlepek dwóch wyrazów pisany z dużej litery. W Anglii, dla której naloty z czasów II wojny światowej są narodowym symbolem poświęcenia, taka nazwa dla zespołu, było nie było rozrywkowego, wzbudzała kontrowersje. Muzyka mogła jeszcze bardziej pogłębić tę niechęć, bo próżno w niej szukać kojących ucho melodii, a nawet jeśli było sentymentalnie i melodyjnie, miażdżono to brudnym, ostrym riffem gitary. A mimo to, żadne gromy z nieba nie posypały się z tego powodu na zespół. Może dlatego, że grupa działała tylko trzy lata i w tak krótkim czasie wydała tylko dwie duże płyty, które utonęły w całym morzu im podobnych? A może dlatego, że prezentowana przez nich muzyka stała na tak wysokim poziomie i z szacunku dla artystów nie czepiano się detali? Przypomnę, że w tym czasie takich prog-rockowych grup wytyczających nowe kierunki działało wiele. I jedną z nich jest bez wątpienia MAY BLITZ. Dzisiaj pozostaje praktycznie nieznana, poza wąskim gronem archiwistów rocka, a szkoda…

Jak już wspomniałem, grupa działała krótko na przestrzeni lat 1969-1971, a założyli ją dwaj byli muzycy kapitalnego zespołu Bakerloo: Terry Pool (bg.) i Keith Baker (dr.). Bardzo szybko przyłączył się do nich śpiewający gitarzysta Jamie Black i już pod nową nazwą zaliczyli kilka koncertów. Jednak wkrótce Pool i Baker odeszli do innych zespołów. Pierwszy został członkiem grupy Vinegar Joe (z Elkie Brooks i Robertem Palmerem w składzie), zaś Baker przyjął lepszą ofertę ze strony Uriah Heep, z którą niedługo później nagrał płytę „Salisbury”. Nie zrażony takim obrotem sprawy osamotniony chwilowo Jamie Black zaprosił do siebie perkusistę Tony Newmana (z Sound Incorporated i The Jeff Beck Group) oraz basistę Reida Hudsona. Kilka miesięcy później MAY BLITZ mogli się już pochwalić kontraktem płytowym z wytwórnią Vertigo, która w 1970 roku wydała ich debiutancką płytę pod nieskomplikowanym tytułem „May Blitz”.

Album „May Blitz” określany też jest często mianem jednego z kamieni milowych brytyjskiego ciężkiego rocka. Sporo tutaj wspaniałego współgrania akustycznej gitary z bluesowym podkładem, sporo psychodelicznych solówek, które kojarzyć mogą się z hendrixowskimi improwizacjami. Progresywnie i hard rockowo mamy w „Smoking The Day Away” czy „Dreaming” Spokojnie zaliczyć je można do ekstraklasy gatunku! Bluesowy „I Don’t Now”, zwiewny i zamglony „Tomorrow My Come”, czy wypełniony motoryczną funkową partią basu „Squeet” pokazują nam jak zróżnicowany jest ten album. Gra całej trójki jest swobodna, bije z niej pewność siebie. Jest autentyczna. Nie ma tutaj schlebiania gustom ani żadnego kunktatorstwa. Jak wspomniałem, płytę wydała Vertigo, która w tym samym czasie wydawała także albumy Black Sabbath oraz Uriah Heep. Zapewniam jednak, że muzyka, którą prezentuje na swym debiucie MAY BLITZ jest prawdopodobnie cięższa od większości produkcji obu tych legendarnych grup. Warto sięgnąć po tę pozycję, tym bardziej, że z okładki spoziera na nas bardzo zachęcająco wielce urokliwa matrona...

MAY BLITZ, briefly an integral part of the UK heavy underground live music scene, were formed by ex-Jeff Beck Group member Tony Newman (drums), who recruited Canadians James Black (lead guitar, vocals) and Reid Hudson (bass and vocals) in 1969. There were many such "power trios" around at the time most famously Jimi Hendrix Experience, Cream, Groundhogs and Bakerloo. Their debut album "May Blitz" was released on Vertigo (6360 007) in 1970 but despite containing some excellent original heavy music sold moderately. The album has very good sound quality and production, the distinctive cover was designed by NME cartoonist Tony Benyon. I managed to get hold of an original copy some years ago and in recent years this album and the follow-up "2nd of May" have each been reissued by Akarma on vinyl and both albums together on a "Beat Goes On" cd BGOCD153.
The first track "Smokin' the Day Away" , a smoke in the country away from the "smoke" starts slowly, almost ponderously, and develops into a jam before returning to the main theme, my favourite song, it is very effective i can almost "smell" that stuff! It also contains some fine drum work and unusual metallic sounding guitar effects. "I Don't Know" , which has another "back to the country" theme is a lazy bluesey number which contains some fine guitar work which snakes its way along. "Dreaming", as the title suggests, is a slow dreamy song with acoustic guitar and shimmering cymbals, then momentarily speeds up into a frenzy of screaming "Arthur Brown" style half-sung vocals, fast tom toms and slide guitar. "Squeet" ("squeet all over the wall?...what could they possibly be talking about??) is an unusual song which develops into a boogie-style jam, "Tomorrow May Come", a dream of a better world, is a slow and ethereal song with echoed vocals, drums and guitar, this mood changes into the fast-paced "Fire Queen" with screaming vocals and thundering drums. Waves lapping introduce the last track "Virgin Waters", a beautiful song about first love, containing some lovely effects, whispered vocals, brilliant drumming and echoey acoustic guitar which build to a heavy climax.

Overall a brilliant group and an amazing album, definitely more "gem" than "lost", an essential masterpiece to any progressive Psych/Space Rock collection!

Oh my, this album is a storming 'Progressive' rarity that features NO keyboards what-so-ever, quite unusual, truth be told (not that the 'keyboard' is the be-all and end-all of all Prog-Rock.....) MAY BLITZ was a not-so-average 3-piece, harder-edged band, simply consisting of a marvellous Guitarist in James Black, and a solid 'backbone' of Bassist Reid Hudson and Drummer/Percussionist Tony Newman. All musicians display a quite adventurous zeal on their respective instruments and their creativeness holds no boundaries to their song- writing. Admittedly, it's taken some years for me to get around to the band, and I have to say that I'm quite impressed with what I hear (if only I discovered them around 1989/90, back when I ........) anyway, here we have something that could be considered as a basic Blues-based band, but their seasoned musicianship and colourful arrangements stretch out further than many of their contemporaries. The album (now a seldomly obtainable record that was originally released on the famed 'Vertigo' label, lovingly re-issued by the amazing Italian vinyl specialists, AKARMA) features the original 7 tracks that offer the listener a surprising insight to what this inspired group of professional musicians can achieve within their simplistic, 3 piece format. The opening piece, the 8 min+ 'Smoking The Day Away' makes me wish I was (ho ho). It's a totally blowing piece of guitar-heavy music, superb riffs, great singing (in a Jack Bruce kinda way) with the rhythm section supplying a constantly changing backdrop for Mr Black to demonstrate his chops - indeed, the middle section displays some of the finest acoustic-guitar playing I've heard for a long time. The album also shows off some early-morning 'descending mood' moments (as I recall them.....) with 'Tomorrow May Come' and 'Virgin Waters', which are great mellow-out tracks. 'Squeet' is very impressive, too - Reid Hudson absolutely cooks on the Bass-Guitar. I'm inclined to give this fantastic album a 5, but I'm aware that many folks will find its contents less than enthralling - so, a strong 4.5 stars feels adequate - not really a weak moment throughout. Please discover this under-rated gem.
