Pete Carr (właśc. Jesse Willard Carr) urodził się 22 kwietnia 1950 roku w Daytona Beach na Florydzie, a zmarł 27 czerwca 2020 roku w Florence w stanie Alabama. Był amerykańskim gitarzystą, muzykiem sesyjnym, producentem i realizatorem dźwięku, uznawanym za jednego z kluczowych gitarzystów sceny Muscle Shoals. Od młodości uczył się gry na gitarze, inspirowany m.in. rockiem brytyjskim oraz gitarzystami bluesowymi i rockowymi. Już jako nastolatek zaczął występować zawodowo, a wkrótce związał się z muzycznym środowiskiem Alabamy, szczególnie ze studiem FAME i Muscle Shoals Sound Studio. Carr stał się cenionym muzykiem sesyjnym i członkiem Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section. Jego charakterystyczna gra gitarowa pojawiła się na nagraniach wielu światowych gwiazd, m.in. Boba Segera, Paula Simona, Roda Stewarta, Barbra Streisand, Joe Cockera czy Joan Baez. Oprócz pracy studyjnej prowadził także własne projekty - m.in. duet LeBlanc & Carr oraz solowe albumy instrumentalne. Był również producentem i inżynierem dźwięku, współtworząc nagrania nagradzane Grammy. Zasłynął jako wszechstronny gitarzysta łączący style rocka, bluesa, country i popu. Jego wkład w muzykę studyjną sprawił, że uznaje się go za jedną z ważnych postaci amerykańskiego rocka sesyjnego drugiej połowy XX wieku. Wstawka zawiera pierwszy album solowy Pete Carra.

Lider zespołu - Mister komentuje: Zgodnie ze wcześniejszymi zapowiedziami, przygotowaliśmy dla Was kolejną reedycję z niedostępnego już od dawna wydawnictw TRAUMY. W nadchodzącym 2026 roku mija równo 20 lat od premiery mini albumu "Hamartia", który pierwotnie trafił na rynek w 2006 roku, za sprawą Empire rec. Trudno o lepszy moment, aby przypomnieć Wam ten stuff. Tak jak w przypadku kilku ostatnich wznowień, również i to będzie sygnowane logotypem Selfmadegod Records. Do pierwotnego materiału postanowiliśmy dokooptować trzy bonusowe nagrania. Pierwsze z nich to alternatywna wersja utworu "Craving", który pochodzi z tej samej sesji nagraniowej, jednak nie znalazł się finalnie na płycie. Kolejny utwór to cover Slayer "Silent Scream" oraz Gorefest "Reality when you die". To wersje utworów znane z innych wydawnictw Traumy, jednak zebraliśmy je do kupy w formule tej właśnie reedycji "Hamartia".

Przygotowaniem graficznym płyty zajął się Archart Design, odświeżony został oryginalny front cover i zupełnie zmieniliśmy cały layout tego albumu, który został wzbogacony o większą ilość zdjęć i znacznie ciekawszą szatę graficzną. Materiał został poddany również nowemu masteringowi, który wykonał Paweł "Janos" Grabowski w warszawskim JNS Studio.

To drugi album berlińskiego Teratoma, bowiem debiut, zresztą bardzo obiecujący, ukazał się ponad cztery lata temu. Cieszę się, że pokładane w niektórych zespołach nadzieje stają się faktem, bo słychać wyraźnie, że panowie ten okres czasu dobrze spożytkowali. Nie zmieniając jednocześnie stylistyki, bowiem, podobnie jak „Purulent Manifestations”, tak i „Longing Voracity” zawiera czystej krwi metal śmierci spod znaku starej szkoły. Oparty w głównej mierze na ciężkim, powolnym riffowaniu i grobowym klimacie. Gitary, swoją drogą momentami wchodzące w bardziej melodyjne tony, porównywalne nawet do klasyków z Bolt Thrower (patrz choćby „Ravaged and Absorbed” czy „Festering Realm”), mielą równomiernie i systematycznie, przez co czasem można odnieść wrażenie, jakby Teratoma chcieli nas wbić głęboko w glebę, niczym kafar hydrauliczny. Niezwykle masywne harmonie bardzo sprawnie mijają się na tej płycie z melodiami całkiem łatwo wpadającymi w ucho, dzięki czemu ciężko stwierdzić, iż „Longing Voracity” jest albumem jednostajnym czy jednokierunkowym. No chyba że za ów kierunek przyjmiemy tutaj oldskul i cmentarny klimat. Idealnie do tej muzyki pasują wokale, będące najlepszym przykładem rdzennego, deathmetalowego głębokiego growlu. Ciekawie ma się sprawa z brzmieniem. Bo o ile całość jest faktycznie organiczna i zaflegmiona na bagienną nutę, tak w niektórych frazach gitary zdają się wybrzmiewać z niezwykłą lekkością, porównywalną do płyt Death ze środkowego okresu. Mimo to, i chyba jest to największa zaleta Teratoma, Niemcy z nikogo nie zrzynają, a nawet nie dają szansy na wskazanie dokładnych, jednoznacznych podobieństw do zespołów onegdaj budujących potęgę death metalu. No chyba że na siłę wskazać brytyjską stal, której chyba faktycznie tu najwięcej, choć nie w każdym momencie stop niemiecki jest jednaki z wyspiarskim. Można zatem powiedzieć, że za pomocą środków znanych i sprawdzonych wykombinowali sobie swój własny styl. Absolutnie nie odkrywczy, ale własny. Jestem przekonany, że każdy maniak rzeczonego gatunku, po sięgnięciu po „Longing Voracity” dozna stu procent satysfakcji. Inaczej sobie tego nie wyobrażam. Bardzo wartościowe wydawnictwo.

Okazuje się, że zespołów o nazwie Teratoma jest cztery, wszystkie grają death metal, a ja trafiłem na tę z Niemiec. I nie wiem, jak tamte wypadają, natomiast to co słyszę na drugim albumie aż się prosi o zrecenzowanie, byście i wy o tym zespole się dowiedzieli.

No chyba, że już ich znacie to przepraszam. Berlińczycy zatytułowali swój najnowszy wyrzyg „Longing Voracity”, co w wolnym tłumaczeniu oznacza „tęsknotę za żarłocznością”. I faktycznie – żre to aż miło. Teratoma opiera się o starą szkołę zmiksowaną z bardziej gruzowatym podejściem, a proporcje to tak różnie, w zależności od momentu. Generalnie – wpisują się w szereg grup w stylu Tomb Mold, Funebrarum, Incantation i im podobne. Ale moim zdaniem wybijają się również ponad przeciętną – nie słyszałem pierwszej płyty i nie wiem, czy oni tak od zawsze, czy to na „Longing Voracity” tak rozwinęli skrzydła. W każdym razie gdy wałkuję ten album, to czuję się trochę, jakby to on wałkował mnie. Ciężar tej muzyki jest naprawdę duży, a odczucie to potęguje jeszcze głęboki, niski growl Daniego. Grupa raczej nie wykracza poza średnie tempo, stawia na nieco wolniejszy proces eksterminacji słuchacza masywnymi riffami. Jedynym zgrzytem dla mnie jest numer „Interim”, będący czymś w rodzaju pauzy – jak wjeżdża tam fujarka to mam wiecznie przed oczami jakichś potomków Majów na deptaku. Szczęśliwie trwa to tylko chwilę i już po nim wtacza się potwór w postaci kolejnego death metalowego numeru. I tak mamy w zasadzie przez czterdzieści kilka minut.

Co jeszcze powinienem nadmienić – brzmienie „Longing Voracity” jest fantastyczne, nie jest na siłę zagruzowane, a to obecnie nie zawsze jest takie oczywiste. Więc za to mają kolejny plusik.

I tych plusików im się zbiera sporo – powiem Wam, że to naprawdę dobry album. Bardzo dobry. Im więcej go słucham, tym bardziej się o tym przekonuję. Z tego miejsca pragnę więc Wam go polecić, bo szkoda byłoby gdyby Wam ta niemiecka Teratoma umknęła.

This was my first experience with Teratoma, and I wasn't disappointed. This album reminds me a lot of the more doom laden death metal from the past few years, such as Mortiferum, Malignant Altar, or Gutvoid. Lots of constant double bass, tremolo picking and guttural vocals. Great guitar work, especially in the solos and leads. The atmosphere on this album is fantastic, lending itself greatly to the bleak and dismal feel of the music, especially the slower parts with one guitar playing droning chords and the other playing melancholy leads. Very well executed, no parts on this album that sound sloppy or misguided. Their intentions are clear and they’re very precise and accurate. The vocals on this album are top notch, no matter what register they’re in, but mostly stick to a lower, more guttural tone. The drums on this album are also killer, with the almost constant double bass creating a background reminiscent of a machine gun.

For this being on the doomier side of death metal, the fact that it’s ten tracks long is awesome. You typically see bands of this similar style putting out 5 or 6 track albums, albeit with those songs being a bit longer. These are good length, but this album has 10 and runs about 45 minutes. That makes the issue of the other bands where the songs run too long null and void, and I think 4.5 minutes is a great amount of time for songs in this style. Just enough time to tell a story and play a song before changing it up on the next one. Some highlights on this one are Chaotic Bewilderment, Festering Realm, and Spewing Atrocities. However, I do need to mention the 7th track, which is appropriately titled “Interim”. It’s nice little 2 minute 40 second track full of acoustics, atmosphere, and a much needed break from the sheer brutality and blunt force of the first 6 tracks. There’s even some flutes and things in there, making it a very interesting interlude. Perfectly placed and a beautiful song, and it really attests to the band’s ability and musical skill, at least for me. When they’re able to have an interlude with this amount of style change, especially on an album this bleak and depressing, it’s a very nice change and I welcome it wholeheartedly. But you can definitely vein it too early. This kind of track is perfectly suited for number 7 on a ten track album. It gives you just a bit of hope before absolutely kicking your teeth in with the last three tracks.

Definitely don’t sleep on these guys. If you’re into stuff like I mentioned before such as Mortiferum or Malignant Altar, you’ll dig the hell out of this.

That makes the issue of the other bands where the songs run too long null and void, and I think 4.5 minutes is a great amount of time for songs in this style. Just enough time to tell a story and play a song before changing it up on the next one. Some highlights on this one are Chaotic Bewilderment, Festering Realm, and Spewing Atrocities. However, I do need to mention the 7th track, which is appropriately titled “Interim”. It’s nice little 2 minute 40 second track full of acoustics, atmosphere, and a much needed break from the sheer brutality and blunt force of the first 6 tracks. There’s even some flutes and things in there, making it a very interesting interlude. Perfectly placed and a beautiful song, and it really attests to the band’s ability and musical skill, at least for me. When they’re able to have an interlude with this amount of style change, especially on an album this bleak and depressing, it’s a very nice change and I welcome it wholeheartedly. But you can definitely vein it too early. This kind of track is perfectly suited for number 7 on a ten track album. It gives you just a bit of hope before absolutely kicking your teeth in with the last three tracks.

Definitely don’t sleep on these guys. If you’re into stuff like I mentioned before such as Mortiferum or Malignant Altar, you’ll dig the hell out of this.

The Dreadnoughts to kanadyjski zespół celtic punk rockowy, założony w 2006 roku w Vancouver. Początkowo The Dreadnoughts prezentowało melodyjne połączenie szant z muzyką punk rockową, ale z biegiem czasu w nagraniach formacji pojawiało się dużo naleciałości z krajów takich jak Ukraina, Polska, Rosja czy Niemcy a grupa często sięgała po melodie ze znanych oberków, polek czy kujawiaków. At the Gates to szwedzki zespół grający melodic death metal, założony w 1990 roku w Goteborgu.
