This is the companion to the East Village Sessions CD. After I started with the live album released in 2001, it's really nice to actually see the band in action. They've gone as analog as possible in this digital age and the results are excellent. I love all the digital frills that can occur these days in progressive music, but they have really dug down to the acoustic roots. The guitar and bass are electric, of course, but with minimal effects and the basic top quality musicianship really shines through.

Being such a synthesizer fan, I can say those forms of keyboard electronics are not missed thanks to the vibe work of Benoit Moerlin. I really like the way Bon Lozaga often does licks sounding like Allan Holdsworth, who was actually a guest on their first album, still has his own style though. The bassist, Hansford Rowe also has worked with Gong in the past, and is bassically pretty cool. Even more incredible is seeing that Gary Husband, who's worked with Holdsworth, has hooked up with Gongzilla and does the drums on this one (great drum solo). Excellent backup also by the percussionist Phil Kester, and the guest guitarist Chuck Garvey, too.

Compared to previous releases, “Echa Krwi” is a more mature and culturally rooted vision. Beyond the foundations of underground black metal, the album draws inspiration from classical Polish music, literature and the spiritual atmosphere woven through the nation’s artistic heritage. Echoes of melancholy, longing, pride, and existential struggle permeate the compositions, giving the record a distinctly Polish character. Vangelis (gr. Βαγγέλης), właśc. Ewangelos Odiseas Papatanasiu (gr. Ευάγγελος Οδυσσέας Παπαθανασίου; ur. 29 marca 1943 w Agrii koło Wolos, zm. 17 maja 2022 w Paryżu - grecki kompozytor muzyki elektronicznej i filmowej. Vangelis urodził się 29 marca 1943 roku w Agrii koło Wolos, w Grecji. Edukację muzyczną rozpoczął w wieku 4 lat, a już w wieku 6 lat miał swój pierwszy publiczny występ, na którym prezentował własne kompozycje. Vangelis był w dużej części samoukiem - odmawiał pobierania lekcji gry na pianinie, a w ciągu swojej kariery nie zdobył formalnej wiedzy na temat notacji muzycznej. Wydany pierwotnie w 1996 roku album to jedno z najważniejszych i najbardziej wpływowych dzieł polskiego black metalu, które uchwyciło mroźnego, pogańskiego ducha tamtej epoki z surowym, melodyjnym rozmachem.



30th anniversary reissue of the iconic Polish black metal album - Sacrilegium's "Wicher. Featuring the original cover art, rediscovered after years.

Originally released in 1996 the album remains one of the most important and most influentaial recordings from Polish black metal scene, rightfully claimed its place among the best releases Poland ever unleashed, damn obscure, epic and original melancholic pagan black metal!



Blast From the Past series is a mini collection of albums reviews for LPs I remember seeing in the local record store when I was first being introduced to Black Metal around late '97/early '98. Either I listened to them and remember how excellent they were and still are today (Horna's "Hiidentorni" and Arckanum's "Kampen" for example) and/or are albums that I didn't give a chance but remembered long enough until finally sitting down and giving them a proper listen. Sacrilegium's "Wicher" is one of those I SHOULD have picked up when my electric eye first spotted a copy of it at the now defunct Woodpecker Records in days of youth and yore.

Sacrilegium is, for the lack of better terms, obscure. Just obscure. If you wanted to find a bonafied obscure metal band for whatever genre, Sacrilegium will fit the fucking bill. Unknown for the most part outside of Poland and I don't even know anyone who has even muttered a word of their existence, which is a bit of a tragedy because these guys could have competed with other black metal bands at the time, but again for whatever reason they just completely went nowhere. "Wicher" is a band that mixes pagan and symphonic black metal into something that sounds pretty damn original. Now don't let symphonic fool you. This is not symphonic as in Dimmu Borgir, but more akin to Limbonic Art. Already this is sounding excellent to my ears. Imagine the symphonic elements of Limbonic Art but mixed in with both old satanic-era and epic Viking/Folk eras of Bathory. There's also hints of "Ablaze"-era Darkthrone, so really it's a mixed bag of goodies. And they're all good. Nothing stupid here folks......but you know what, now that I think about it even more, this is really a more unorthodox style of what Satanic Warmaster plays! YES! I don't know if Werewolf of SW is a fan or has ever heard of these guys, but there are a LOT of similarities between to two.

The trio musicians performing know what they are doing musically. They are obviously past the amateur/demo stage and are now going down their own path, but while being good musicians and being able to deliver even better music, the production is not too good. Although you can hear singer/guitarist/keyboardist Succlagus fairly well, you really can't hear the drums or bass too good. Too drowned out. The drums sound like a live performance. Now this is where I am having trouble with. The sound production is very bland, I still like it and I don't know whether to see this as a negative. But seeing how some songs seem better mixed than others, that at least deducts 10 points. Need not fret, comrades.

The songs are all for the most part excellent, I really don't see any filler here what-so-ever. This is one of those albums where you can listen to all the way through and not get bored. Although the 12 minute epic "Wicher Falami Ognia" may drags on here and there, it's still good if you have the time to sit back and take in the majestic synths and ambience. "Spiew Kruków Czarnych Cieni" is my personal favorite. The keyboard-driven guitars mania is genius.

For 1996, this is pretty damn good. Unfortunately this album is extremely hard to track down seeing it's out of print. The best way to listen to this is on Youtube.com seeing how someone was kind enough to upload the entire album. Check it out, try to track it down, whatever. This album deserves to be in your collection.

Sony are to release The 1974 Live Recordings a massive 27-disc box set that features all professionally recorded shows from Bob Dylan and The Band’s 1974 tour.

The box set offers fans 417 previously unreleased live tracks – including 133 recordings newly mixed from 16-track tape, and every single surviving soundboard recording.

In 1974 Dylan toured live for the first time in eight years and reunited with The Band, who since they last performed live together (in 1966) had released six albums and played Woodstock and recorded with Bob (The Basement Tapes, Planet Waves).

Dylan and The Band performed 30 dates in 42 days (often playing two sets per day) and recordings were captured on a stereo soundboard mix, on both quarter-inch tape and cassette. By tour’s end, Asylum Records’ David Geffen had commissioned recordings on multi-track tape, for eventual release on Before the Flood. The 1974 Live Recordings includes it all of these and the shows that were recorded on 16-track tape are newly-mixed for this box set, which comes with with new sleeve notes by Elizabeth Nelson.

417 previously unreleased live performances! 'Very limited'

Sony are to release The 1974 Live Recordings a massive 27-disc box set that features all professionally recorded shows from Bob Dylan and The Band’s 1974 tour.

The box set offers fans 417 previously unreleased live tracks – including 133 recordings newly mixed from 16-track tape, and every single surviving soundboard recording.

In 1974 Dylan toured live for the first time in eight years and reunited with The Band, who since they last performed live together (in 1966) had released six albums and played Woodstock and recorded with Bob (The Basement Tapes, Planet Waves).

Dylan and The Band performed 30 dates in 42 days (often playing two sets per day) and recordings were captured on a stereo soundboard mix, on both quarter-inch tape and cassette. By tour’s end, Asylum Records’ David Geffen had commissioned recordings on multi-track tape, for eventual release on Before the Flood. The 1974 Live Recordings includes it all of these and the shows that were recorded on 16-track tape are newly-mixed for this box set, which comes with with new sleeve notes by Elizabeth Nelson.

Wydany w atrakcyjnej okładce, trwający 158 minut, dwupłytowy CD zawierający przede wszystkim fantastycznie brzmiący i doskonale zagrany 114-minutowy koncert profesjonalnie zarejestrowany przez zespół (tzw. soundboard) 3 stycznia 1977 roku podczas tournee promującego wydany dwa dni wcześniej LP "Wind & Wuthering". To była druga trasa z Philem Collinsem w roli wokalisty i niestety ostatnia ze Steve'em Hackettem na gitarze! Na drugim zestawie bębnów (w miejsce Billa Bruforda) grał już były perkusista Zappy i Weather Report - Chester Thompson. Prawdopodobnie był to (obok Zurich 1977) najlepiej brzmiący koncert z całej trasy z 1977 roku. Wszyscy muzycy są perfekcyjnie słyszalni i moim zdaniem całość brzmi nie gorzej niż oficjalny "Seconds Out"! Dodatkowo, w drugiej części drugiego CD dołączono trwającą 45 minut, świetnie brzmiącą (po remasteringu), radiową transmisję 7 utworów zarejestrowanych 3 tygodnie potem w angielskim Leicester. Wielką zaletą tego ponad dwu-i-pół-godzinnego wydawnictwa są unikalne, zdecydowanie progresywne nagrania ze wspomnianego wyżej "Wind & Wuthering" - kompletnie pominięte na wspomnianym, katalogowym 2LP 'Seconds Out' (1977)!

Dwupłytowe, rozszerzone, australijskie wydanie albumu "The Hoax Is Over", najpopularniejszej wówczas australijskiej formacji grającej w stylistyce wczesnych Allman Brothers Band. Pierwszy dysk zawiera album z 1971 roku, na którym Billy Thorpe & The Aztecs prezentują ciężkie, surowe brzmienie oparte na długich improwizacjach. Centralnym punktem płyty jest monumentalna, ponad dwudziestominutowa wersja „Gangster of Love”, pokazująca zespół w pełni koncertowej energii. Uzupełniają ją m.in. „Mississippi” oraz „Goodbye Baby”, a także zestaw singli i nagrań koncertowych z końca lat 60. i początku 70.
