Oi Polloi to zespoł punkowy, który powstał w 1981 roku w Edynburgu (Szkocja). W 1985 ukazuje się pierwszy materiał – kaseta demo wydana przez zespół – "Destroi the System". Od początku istnienia w zespole grało około 50 muzyków. Z założycieli pozostał tylko Deek - wokalista. Muzyka zespołu ewoluowała od oi do zaangażowanego anarchopunka. Teksty piosenek dotyczą m.in. ochrony środowiska, wyzwolenia zwierząt, wegetarianizmu, zwalczania faszyzmu, brutalności policji. Poza graniem muzyki angażują się w akcje anarchistyczne, ekologiczne oraz ruchu antyfaszystowskiego. Kilkakrotnie odwiedzali Polskę, co zaowocowało dość dobrą znajomością języka polskiego przez Deeka. Ich motto to "No compromise in defense of our earth". Giovanni Giorgio Moroder (ur. 26 kwietnia 1940 w Ortisei) to włoski muzyk, kompozytor, producent muzyczny, autor tekstów oraz DJ. Moroder został trzykrotnie wyróżniony Oscarem, w 1979 za ścieżkę dźwiękową do filmu Midnight Express, w 1984 roku za napisanie muzyki do piosenki Flashdance…What a Feeling, wreszcie w 1987 za piosenkę Take My Breath Away z filmu Top Gun. Był założycielem nieistniejącego już dziś studia Musicland Studios, mającego swą siedzibę w Monachium. In a sea of bland, forgettable, and sometimes horrible bands in the modern era of death metal. One of my favorites that definitely stands out is Wretched Inferno. They’re a band that formed in 2018 in Massachusetts. Originally writing thrash metal but then moving into brutal and gore soaked death metal. In the course of their career so far they’ve managed to release 2 albums and one major EP. In the beginning, this band was very straightforward and brutal. Not to say the old releases are bad because they’re fucking awesome. But with their newest album “Cacophony of Flith” you can tell the band has become tighter and better songwriters.

First off this record is the definition of the word FILHTY. Everything from the instrumental aspects, to the compositions, and the production/ mix sounds big and nasty. This record is a straightforward beatdown of pure brutal death/osdm carnage. Filled with aggressive violent riffs, chunky grooves, and tons of blasting. Because what death metal album would be complete without blast beats? You can tell there are still hints of that pure bdm in the mix. But you also get tons of thrashy osdm flares here and there as well.

Let’s talk about the nasty production. This is what a modern death metal band should strive to sound like. The drums have such a powerful mix and touch to them. The snare especially has that perfect ping that extreme metal fans will go crazy for. The guitars for a nasty chainsaw-like tone to them, making them sound extremely fuzzy and distorted. The vocals are great and right in the middle of things. Nothing here is necessarily drowned out and each aspect of the album sounds big and crunchy as fuck. Catering to old-school death metal heads alike.

Onto the actual guitar work. Goddamn is this album riff City. There are tons of tasty slam riffs, pinch harmonics, and nasty tremolos. You get tons of those nasty brutal death metal-oriented riffs but you also get more of the thrashy osdm style of riffs as well. There are also some slightly slower sections that could be considered doomy. The guitars are tight, catchy, and hella memorable. You can tell that the band has heightened their technical and musical abilities. Because each member is firing off on all cylinders here.

Along all the blunt riffs you get a lot of really good solos occasionally. The title track is a good example. As it contains some good sweep picking. But of course this album is dominated by catchy rythmns and nasty palm muted chugging. It’s a very straightforward yet very entertaining album. It’s very tight, the hammer on’s are nasty, and the pull offs and techniques are fantastic. This is just a very well written piece of old school death metal. You even get some good 2 step like beats and d beat like sections.

Vocally this album is gnarly as hell. Much like a band like Dying Fetus or Regurgitation there’s 2 different vocal styles here. And both are balanced and trade off each other very well. You have the more gurgling gutturals and mid ranged growls. Then you have the backing vocals that are high raspy shrieks. Each vocal line is delivered with pure aggression and energy. When it comes to the lower gutturals they range from more mid ranged to pure gurgling nastiness. Overall a very strong vocal performance.

Finally we gotta talk about the drums. Drummer Will Robinson(you a homie) is a very frantic and talented musician. His blast beats are ruthless and fucking insane. He’s got a lot of nasty drum grooves up his sleeve and really knows how to propel the songs and make them heavier. The double bass work is phenomenal and he’s got some good build ups on a song like “Utheral Disembowlment”. Much like the guitars there’s a lot of thrashy sections (some are kinda d beat ish?) alongside the instense blasting. So it’s the perfect package of all things nasty.

To sum this up this album is brutal and brilliant. I got nothing but respect for these guys. And I’m excited for their next release whenever it comes out in the future. So go support these guys. And go support the band Matriphagy. As it features similar members. If you want some nasty modern brutality done right with a fantastic production value. Wretched Inferno is for you. These guys need more attention and praise in the scene. So give em a jam. Fantastic shit.

In a sea of bland, forgettable, and sometimes horrible bands in the modern era of death metal. One of my favorites that definitely stands out is Wretched Inferno. They’re a band that formed in 2018 in Massachusetts. Originally writing thrash metal but then moving into brutal and gore soaked death metal. In the course of their career so far they’ve managed to release 2 albums and one major EP. In the beginning, this band was very straightforward and brutal. Not to say the old releases are bad because they’re fucking awesome. But with their newest album “Cacophony of Flith” you can tell the band has become tighter and better songwriters.

First off this record is the definition of the word FILHTY. Everything from the instrumental aspects, to the compositions, and the production/ mix sounds big and nasty. This record is a straightforward beatdown of pure brutal death/osdm carnage. Filled with aggressive violent riffs, chunky grooves, and tons of blasting. Because what death metal album would be complete without blast beats? You can tell there are still hints of that pure bdm in the mix. But you also get tons of thrashy osdm flares here and there as well.

ARKAIK return with their landmark progressive tech-death masterwork entitled “Nemethia”. A continuation on the conceptual saga of the two previous releases, the journey of “Cyrix” expands into new landscapes, as does the bands technical prowess and creativity.

Arkaik's fourth full length Unique Leader Records release and most ambitious studio album to date features guest appearances by Joe Haley of Psycroptic, Arde Ostowari formerly of Burning The Masses, Stephen Paulson of the San Fransisco Symphony Orchestra and former ARKAIK guitarist Craig Peters, as well as Gabe Seeber from The Kennedy Veil/Decrepit Birth (Live) performing drums for the entire album.



I can remember the old days when we used to discuss is something was hard rock or heavy metal, but now the music we all love has become so diverse that even sub genres have sub genres to describe what it is that we listen to. One of my personal favourites is progressive technical death metal, and there can be few who do it as well as Arkaik. This is their fourth full length for Unique Leader and is probably their most ambitious studio album to date. It was produced, engineered, and mixed by Zack Ohren (Immolation, Fallujah, Suffocation, Decrepit Birth et al.), and features guest appearances by Joe Haley of Psycroptic, Arde Ostowari formerly of Burning The Masses, Stephen Paulson of the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, and former Arkaik guitarist Craig Peters, as well as Gabe Seeber from The Kennedy Veil and Decrepit Birth (live) performing drums for the entire album. The cover art and booklet was designed by visionary artist Tyler Space, who worked with the band on their previous release, ‘Lucid Dawn’.

They created a series of wildly psychedelic concept albums revolving around a protagonist named Cyrix, a disillusioned character in a dystopian society. Cyrix’ latest journey introduces new characters and brings you into a world of dark occultists, magical allies, and hidden forces. From resurrecting ancient goddesses to cracking the codes of reality and activating hyper dimensional stargates, the chronicle of Cyrix continues.

Said founding vocalist Jared Christianson of the record’s concept, “This album fully sets the stage and builds on the story we started developing two albums ago with Cyrix and ‘Metamorphignition’. We've begun weaving together our own mythos of synchronicity and symbolism to encapsulate and distil the journey of the alchemist through the gnostic dream. It attempts to reveal through storytelling and allegory that we can experience real freedom and discover the inner treasures that guide us to who, what, and where we want to be, if we are willing to pull back the veil of lies blinding us from the truth of our nature. If I could sum up everything we've done so far, my personal journey and our message as a band in three words it would be the lyric ‘pain to power’ from the song “Telegnosis”. To me, it's about transmuting your struggles into strengths and refining your personal power and will. I really enjoyed making this album and hope people dig it!"

Massively over the top in every sense, this is essential to anyone into this particular sub-genre as it rarely gets any better than this.

This album is simply insane. A pinnacle of modern technical death metal, Arkaik are back at it again with their 2017 full-length release Nemethia. When I was first introduced to the band, it was through the second track on this album, "Of Violence and Pestilence Born."

This album is pure aggression. From the creepy piano intro of "Order of the Hierogon" or orchestral one in "Of Violence and Pestilence Born" to the monstrous growls and high-pitched shrieks throughout the album, this record has it all. Often incorporating symphonic elements as well as extremely technical and exclusively metal techniques such as sweep picking and blast beats, this album is an earsplitting masterpiece with extremely polished albeit muddy production. This album could be a "try not to headbang challenge" by itself.

I apologize for the short review, but there's not much to say about this album since it can be summed up with words like "awesome," "heavy," "complex," and "original." It is definitely a unique listening experience, although it could be confused by some for deathcore. Make no mistake; this is pure fucking technical death metal through and through.

Ganges wylał swoje nieczystości po raz kolejny. Po sześciu latach od zajebistego, debiutanckiego “Primal Incinerators of Moral Matrix” Tetragrammacide zrzuca niemal z nienacka po raz kolejny tonową bombę wodorową, która w ułamku sekundy zabija niczym atak Hydry: szybko i boleśnie.

Będę zawsze to powtarzał: kurewsko wielbię Tetragrammacide (jak i wszystko co wychodzi spod szyldu KIOP) i kiedy przyszło mi się zmierzyć po raz pierwszy z “Typho-Tantric Aphorisms From The Arachneophidian Qur’an” zostałem niemal natychmiast skasowany. Po trzyminutowym, rytualnym intrze spadła na mnie atomowa nawałnica, która niczym wir, wkręciła mnie w sam środek apokaliptycznej zagłady dźwiękowej. Audiosoniczny terroryzm duetu Martial Opium i Entropymurti wylewający się z każdej ze stron skutecznie zadawał mi bolesne ciosy z hipersonicznych blastów, gitary basowej i potężnego growlu, który w swych wersetach niósł antyreligijne psalmy zagłady.

I tak przez ponad 40 minut (za wyjątkiem dwuminutowego przejścia pod postacią “Kalikshetra-Kairo Consciousness Revival (Alogical Exegesis Of The Sandhipada-Sarisreepa Continuum Vigyaan)”) Tetragrammacide na “Typho-Tantric Aphorisms From The Arachneophidian Qur’an” praktycznie nie zwalnia. Co rusz zrzuca tylko kolejne, kilkutonowe blast-bomby, które niszcząc kolejne mury świątyń fałszywych, upadających religii, skazuje jednocześnie na sąd ostateczny ich wyznawców przed obliczem bogini Maat. Niesamowite dźwiękowe ultrasoniczne szaleństwo które panuje na tym krążku wkręca i uzależnia, wprowadzając jednocześnie słuchającego do świata bez religii i wierzeń, gdzie panuje już tylko antyhumanizm, anty-tworzenie i obłęd.

Tak, obłędna jest ta płyta. Technicznie dopracowana niemal do perfekcji (przecinająca na pół solówka w “Thanatos And Eros Wrestle Forever, Folding And Unfolding From The Substratum Of Supreme Voidness Of S’lba” to majstersztyk!). Mocno death metalowa, aniżeli death/blackowa. I choć brzmienie wydaje się być tu nieco za czyste, nie jest pozbawione rozpoznawalnego, lekko noisowego, atomowego powiewu. Dosłownie każda partia gitary, basu i – w szczególności – bębnów jest tutaj niezwykle precyzyjna w procesie dehumanizacji słuchacza a wokal, krystalicznie czysty, wypluwa z siebie kolejne bluźnierstwa przeciwko bogom w iście szybkim, diabelskim tempie. Udało się więc Tetragrammacide zachować ten brudny, charakterystyczny sound (“One Who Weaves The Chthonic Garland Of 52 Skullphabets Severed By The Sword Of Neti-Neti”) rodem z Trzeciego Świata (czytaj: Kalkuty), co tylko potęguje trwającą tu transmisję eksterminacji, urzeczywistniając ją tym samym niemal do namacalnego stanu.

Nie będę pierdolił. “Typho-Tantric Aphorisms From The Arachneophidian Qur’an” to po prostu czysty, soniczny holocaust urywający głowę… Hail Tetragrammacide ! Hail K I O P !

From the haunting introduction to the utterly rampant bestial rage, there is no denying India’s savagery is a unique spirit. Crazed drumming and unhinged riffs blend primitive battery and dissonant chaos into a frenzied and malicious assault of the senses. Rife with spiritual and blasphemous energies, the black flame and vibrant delivery coupled with a truly magnificent production renders this apocalyptic tome an instantly addictive experience of bludgeoning triumph. The immense reverberate hooks of lacerating instrumentals and daunting vocals execute a sadistically fierce soundscape of visceral upheaval. Within a genre associated with rawness, it is fascinating to hear such a well-balanced yet equally violent sound permeate the air with total annihilation. Some of the warped guitar parts feel totally otherworldly while the percussive hostility is so relentless you cannot escape the dominant extreme metal attack.

Propelling sensual and impenetrable darkness with radiant vitriol, Tetragrammacide have not only a unique sound but their lyrical content is equally interesting. “Between sacred and profane” being a quote from the press release I found to be most alluring. Archgoat, for instance, have a similar adage. This blending of glorification while desecrating is the ideal core of something so musically potent. Kaleidoscopic furore and cerebrally contorting musical gymnastics make for a truly fascinating, captivating and animalistic listening experience. Invariably there will be some people who cannot withstand this martial onslaught, clearly this is not an album intended for mass consumption. That said, I think the truly marvellous execution in the production and artwork ensure what was meant to be conveyed is done so beautifully. Those who enjoy such concoctions of vigorous obliteration will be in boundless ecstasy throughout, of that I can assure you.

A vicious cascade of utterly venomous black / death metal that is crushing to behold. From the unconventional songwriting to the monolithic production, this Indian war-machine gives us the bold and yet unwelcoming combination this genre needed. Feeling original in their approach, rather than more rehashing of former glory days while keeping ineffably true to the spirit of extremity, Tetragrammacide set the bar higher than ever for the modern musical underground. Simply phenomenal musicianship and astounding songwriting delivered with a demonic presence that cannot be flawed in its unfaltering excellence.

Dziwne rzeczy się trochę teraz dzieją, bo ja już recenzowałem kiedyś ten materiał. Mało tego – nie pamiętałem, że go recenzowałem. No ale tak było, a teraz dostałem wznowienie (powtórne) demówki Indulgence, abym opisał ją jeszcze raz.

Zagmatwane? To pogmatwam bardziej. Indulgence to późniejsza inkarnacja bydgoskiego Scarecrow. Ich numery zostały wydane przez Thrashing Madness Productions jako część wznowienia „Optimo Deo Maximo” rzeczonego Scarecrow. I tak o nich wówczas pisałem: A na koniec inkarnacja dwóch muzyków Scarecrow – Roberta i Tomasza już jako Indlugence i ich demo „Embodiment of Evil”. Część numerów to kawałki ze wspomnianego reha. Tutaj kapela poszła już trochę bardziej w thrash/death metalowe nakurwianie, jednak ten charakterystyczny blackowy posmak gdzieś tam się przebija (zwłaszcza w zapożyczeniu z „Marsza pogrzebowego”, hehe…). No, samo brzmienie jest już lepsze, ale to nie znaczy, że jest wymuskane, co to to nie. No, mamy tutaj też więcej zwolnień – choć jest to na wyrost może, bo panowie nie zaczęli nagle grać doom metalu. Jednak nie jest to już tak młodzieńczo wkurwione i opętane – słychać, że muzycy przez te dwa lata jakoś tam dojrzali. Chwali się im, zwłaszcza że „Embodiment of Evil” to wciąż świetny kawał metalu.

To było w 2016 roku (to znaczy ja wtedy o tym tak pisałem, samo demo powstało w 1992 roku. I ja nadal podtrzymuję w zasadzie swoją opinię. Wznowienie z 2024 roku ma oczywiście archiwalne zdjęcia lub reprodukcje. I chyba tyle mogę Wam o tym powiedzieć.

Jeśli więc macie ten materiał choćby z rzeczonego „Optimo Deo Maximo” – możecie sobie odpuścić, no chyba że jesteście aż takie przechuje i chcecie mieć na półce wszystko od Indulgence i we wszystkich wydaniach. Wtedy – proszę bardzo.

'Afterimages' to 8 utworów,dla których inspiracją była moja Babcia.
Targany różnymi wspomnieniami postanowiłem przełożyć je na dźwięki, by
oddały emocje towarzyszące mi za każdym razem, kiedy spędzałem z Nią
czas. To także próba ujarzmienia skrywanej złości, melancholii i
ogromnego smutku spowodowanych odejściem kogoś bliskiego.

Pepe.

W warstwie muzycznej dominują brytyjskie brzmienia spod znaku Mount Kimbie, Actress, czy Gold Panda. Nagrania terenowe mieszają się z samplami i żywymi instrumentami tworząc bogaty i emocjonalny kolaż lo-fi elektroniki. Gościnnie na płycie udziela się runforrest – jeden z najciekawszych młodych głosów w Polsce, oraz Lena Osińska – obdarzona niezwykle zmysłowym głosem autorka tekstów i wokalistka zespołu SONAR.

Pepe. nagrywa i tworzy nostalgiczne utwory w klimatach lo-fi. Wychodzi poza ramy własnej wyobraźni, grzebiąc w dźwiękach każdego bliskiego mu gatunku: rapu, house, post-dubstep, UK garage; czerpie też inspirację z nagrań terenowych. Jego charakterystyczny styl wybrzmiewa zarówno w autorskich produkcjach jak i w remiksach innych artystów. Ostatnie lata pracy przyniosły kolaborację Pepe. m.in. z Rasmentalism (remix „Lipsync” z udziałem Taco Hemingwaya), Sonarem, Flirtini (Places Without Things EP, Heartbreaks & Promises vol. 3 i 4,) a także z Kamilem Pivotem oraz Himalaya Collective („Nebula”, czyli album kolektywu został wydany w 2020 roku przez U Know Me Records). Niezapomniane live-acty w klubach, na imprezach z cyklu Sofar Sounds (Kraków 2017, Odense 2018) czy w radiowej Czwórce (2017) pozwoliły zagościć Pepe. na wielu letnich imprezach i festiwalach. W 2018 roku zagrał m.in. na Open’er Festival (występ na Firestone Stage), World Wide Warsaw (obok Coma Truise’a), Late Summer Festival czy festiwalu Enea Spring Break.

W 2019 roku Pepe. został nominowany w konkursie Nagród Klubowych ŁOWCY w kategorii Producent/Artysta (House/Elektronika/Techno), rok później Radio Kampus wyróżniło go umieszczeniem na liście „Tak Brzmi 2020”.



Pepe. creates and records nostalgic lo-fi songs. Reaching beyond his own imagination, he is dabbing in the sounds of every genre close to him: rap, house, post-dubstep, UK garage; He also draws inspiration from field recordings. His characteristic style resonates both in his original productions as well in other artists' remixes.

Recent years brought in Pepe's collaboration with multiple artists like Rasmentalism (remix of "Lipsync" with Taco Hemingway), Sonar, Flirtini ("Places Without Things” EP, “Heartbreaks & Promises” vol. 3 and 4), Kamil Pivot and Himalaya Collective (The “Nebula” album was released in 2020 by U Know Me Records).

“Afterimages" consists of 8 songs inspired by my Grandma. Torn by various memories, I decided to put them into sounds to reflect the emotions that accompanied me every time I'd spend time with her. It is also an attempt to tame the hidden anger, the melancholy and the sadness caused by the passing of a loved one.

The musical layer is dominated by British sounds like Mount Kimbie, Actress or Gold Panda. Field recordings are mixed with samples and live instruments, creating a rich and emotional collage of lo-fi electronics. Guest performers on the record are: runforrest - one of the most interesting young voices in Poland, and Lena Osińska - songwriter and vocalist of the SONAR band with her amazingly sensual voice.

Mix and mastering was made by Paweł Bartnik (sound engineer and heavyweight.pro studio owner), album cover was designed by Beata BARRAKUZ Śliwińska - the artwork is a collage of Grandma's photos from Pepe's family archives. The videoclip “Fade” was produced by Mateusz Wołoczko.

The publisher, U Know Me Records, is an independent record label celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. The Album “Afterimages” appears on digital and special CD version limited to 200 pieces.

'Afterimages' to 8 utworów,dla których inspiracją była moja Babcia.
Targany różnymi wspomnieniami postanowiłem przełożyć je na dźwięki, by
oddały emocje towarzyszące mi za każdym razem, kiedy spędzałem z Nią
czas. To także próba ujarzmienia skrywanej złości, melancholii i
ogromnego smutku spowodowanych odejściem kogoś bliskiego.

W warstwie muzycznej dominują brytyjskie brzmienia spod znaku Mount Kimbie, Actress, czy Gold Panda. Nagrania terenowe mieszają się z samplami i żywymi instrumentami tworząc bogaty i emocjonalny kolaż lo-fi elektroniki. Gościnnie na płycie udziela się runforrest – jeden z najciekawszych młodych głosów w Polsce, oraz Lena Osińska – obdarzona niezwykle zmysłowym głosem autorka tekstów i wokalistka zespołu SONAR.

Pepe. nagrywa i tworzy nostalgiczne utwory w klimatach lo-fi. Wychodzi poza ramy własnej wyobraźni, grzebiąc w dźwiękach każdego bliskiego mu gatunku: rapu, house, post-dubstep, UK garage; czerpie też inspirację z nagrań terenowych. Jego charakterystyczny styl wybrzmiewa zarówno w autorskich produkcjach jak i w remiksach innych artystów. Ostatnie lata pracy przyniosły kolaborację Pepe. m.in. z Rasmentalism (remix „Lipsync” z udziałem Taco Hemingwaya), Sonarem, Flirtini (Places Without Things EP, Heartbreaks & Promises vol. 3 i 4,) a także z Kamilem Pivotem oraz Himalaya Collective („Nebula”, czyli album kolektywu został wydany w 2020 roku przez U Know Me Records). Niezapomniane live-acty w klubach, na imprezach z cyklu Sofar Sounds (Kraków 2017, Odense 2018) czy w radiowej Czwórce (2017) pozwoliły zagościć Pepe. na wielu letnich imprezach i festiwalach. W 2018 roku zagrał m.in. na Open’er Festival (występ na Firestone Stage), World Wide Warsaw (obok Coma Truise’a), Late Summer Festival czy festiwalu Enea Spring Break.

W 2019 roku Pepe. został nominowany w konkursie Nagród Klubowych ŁOWCY w kategorii Producent/Artysta (House/Elektronika/Techno), rok później Radio Kampus wyróżniło go umieszczeniem na liście „Tak Brzmi 2020”.



Pepe. creates and records nostalgic lo-fi songs. Reaching beyond his own imagination, he is dabbing in the sounds of every genre close to him: rap, house, post-dubstep, UK garage; He also draws inspiration from field recordings. His characteristic style resonates both in his original productions as well in other artists' remixes.
