The 1975 are an English pop rock band formed in 2002 in Wilmslow, Cheshire. Now based in Manchester, the band consists of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Matthew Healy, lead guitarist Adam Hann, bassist Ross MacDonald, and drummer George Daniel.

The band's origins trace to their attendance at Wilmslow High School and playing together as teenagers. Gigs organised by a council worker led the band to formally sign with Dirty Hit and Polydor Records. The band opened for several major acts and released a series of extended plays (Facedown, Sex, Music for Cars, IV) throughout 2012 before releasing their self-titled debut album (2013), which included the popular singles "Sex", "Chocolate", and "Robbers" reaching number one in the United Kingdom.

Their second album, I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful yet So Unaware of It (2016), reached No. 1 in the US and UK. Following the touring cycle for the record, the band announced their third album under the working title of Music for Cars, before going on hiatus again throughout 2017.

Returning in 2018, the band announced that the album had evolved into their third campaign cycle, consisting of their third and fourth studio albums. The first, A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships (2018), was released to critical praise, and became their third No. 1 album in the UK. The second, Notes on a Conditional Form, is set to be released on May 22nd 2020.

Between 1955 and 1959, with occasional changes in personnel, trumpeter Miles Davis led a simply extraordinary small band that changed the course of jazz. This quintet/sextet primarily spotlighted tenor saxophonist John Coltrane but also included such greats as alto saxophonist Cannonball Adderley; pianists Red Garland, Bill Evans, and Wynton Kelly; bassist Paul Chambers; and drummers Philly Joe Jones and Jimmy Cobb. The Complete Columbia Recordings of Miles Davis and John Coltrane comprise such fabled Davis albums as 'Round About Midnight, Milestones, Jazz at the Plaza, Volume 1, Someday My Prince Will Come, and the legendary Kind of Blue. Also included are the Davis-with-Coltrane selections that appeared on Miles and Monk at Newport, Jazz Track, Basic Miles, and Circle in the Round. In all, the set boasts 60 tracks, of which 18 are previously unreleased--14 of them complete takes.
This is sumptuous, vital music that's alternately exhilarating and emotive, rhythmically dynamic and smoothly flowing, complex and easy on the ear. It's music that defies classification. It's neither bebop nor hard bop yet has elements of both and remains contemporary to this day, as evidenced by such timeless numbers as "All Blues" and "So What."

Released as part of the Doors' celebration of their 50th anniversary, The Singles may at first glance seem to cover familiar ground as, in essence, it's another greatest-hits collection in a discography littered with compilations. Look closer, and the differences are immediately apparent. Designed as a clearinghouse for every single the band ever released, The Singles does indeed take its mission seriously, containing the A- and B-sides of such classic 45s as "Break on Through (To the Other Side), "Light My Fire," "Love Me Two Times," "Hello, I Love You," and "Riders on the Storm" but also not stopping the band's story with the death of Jim Morrison, which is a first for any Doors hits set. The second disc contains the five singles culled from the Morrison-less Other Voices and Full Circle, plus the lone 45 pulled from 1979's An American Prayer (a pseudo-reunion album where Ray Manzarek, Robby Krieger, and John Densmore set old Morrison spoken word performances to music that somehow also included a live version of "Roadhouse Blues"); the single from 1983's Alive, She Cried; and mono radio versions of "Hello, I Love You, "Touch Me," "Wishful Sinful," and "Tell All the People." Notice that two of those sides are not considered Doors standards and their presence helps highlight all the classic rock staples missing from the set: "Strange Days," "Five to One," "Waiting for the Sun," "Love Her Madly," "The End," "Twentieth Century Fox," and "L.A. Woman" are all MIA. Their absence means this set can't be seen as a definitive overview, yet due to its strict adherence to what the Doors released as 45s -- not to mention how the deluxe set contains a Blu-ray bearing the Quadraphonic mix originally released on 1973's The Best of the Doors -- The Singles winds up painting a better picture of what the Doors actually felt like on AM and FM radio during their heyday and after their salad days came to a close.

Andy Williams is one of the world’s most successful recording artists, achieving huge success on both sides of the Atlantic throughout the 60s and 70s, scoring over 50 hit singles in the US and 21 in the UK. His long-running TV series “The Andy Williams Show” was top-rated in both the US and the UK throughout this period.

This sixty track 3CD set includes twenty-one UK Top 40 singles, from 1962 to 2002. The three-disc box set Singles Collection: The London Years contains every single the Rolling Stones released during the '60s, including both the A- and B-sides. It is the first Stones compilation that tries to be comprehensive and logical -- for all their attributes, the two Hot Rocks sets and the two Big Hits collections didn't present the singles in chronological order. In essence, the previous compilations were excellent samplers, where Singles Collection tells most of the story (certain albums, like Aftermath, Beggars Banquet, and Let It Bleed, fill in the gaps left by the singles). The Rolling Stones made genuine albums -- even their early R&B/blues albums were impeccably paced -- but their singles had a power all their own, which is quite clearly illustrated by the Singles Collection. By presenting the singles in chronological order, the set takes on a relentless, exhilarating pace with each hit and neglected B-side piling on top of each other, adding a new dimension to the group; it has a power it wouldn't have had if it tried to sample from the albums. Although it cheats near the end, adding singles from the Metamorphosis outtakes collection and two singles from Sticky Fingers, this captures the essence of the '60s Stones as well as any compilation could. Casual fans might want to stick with the Hot Rocks sets, since they just have the hits, but for those that want a little bit more, the Singles Collection is absolutely essential.
