Los Bravos to hiszpańska grupa beatowa, założona w 1965 roku z siedzibą w Madrycie. Są najbardziej znani ze swojego debiutanckiego singla „Black Is Black”, który osiągnął 2. miejsce w Wielkiej Brytanii w lipcu 1966 r. i 4. miejsce w Stanach Zjednoczonych (pierwsza hiszpańska grupa, która to zrobiła), sprzedając ponad milion płyt na całym świecie.

Zespół był połączeniem dwóch popowych grup, Los Sonor z Madrytu i The Runaways z Majorki. Wokalista Los Bravos, Mike Kogel, pochodzi z Niemiec. Jego styl wokalny był czasami porównywany do Gene'a Pitney'a. "Black is Black" osiągnął 2. miejsce na UK Singles Chart w lipcu 1966, 4. miejsce na US Billboard Hot 100 i sprzedał się w ponad milionie egzemplarzy na całym świecie.

"Black is Black" został napisany przez Michelle Grainger, Tony'ego Hayesa i Steve'a Wadeya w ich studiu nagraniowym do wycinania płyt demo w Hoo St Werburgh, niedaleko Rochester w hrabstwie Kent w Anglii. Piosenka została później przerobiona przez Johnny'ego Hallydaya, a następnie przez francuską firmę Belle Epoque, której wersja disco przypadkowo znalazła się również na 2. miejscu w Wielkiej Brytanii w 1977 roku.

Kolejny singiel Los Bravos, „I Don't Care”, osiągnął 16 miejsce w Wielkiej Brytanii w październiku 1966 roku. W 1967 roku zespół wziął udział w San Remo Music Festival, nie kwalifikując się do finału z piosenką „ Uno come noi” po włosku. Zespół był bohaterem dwóch hiszpańskich filmów komediowych: w 1967 roku Los chicos con las chicas (Chłopcy z dziewczynami) w reżyserii Javiera Aguirre oraz w 1968 roku Dame un poco de amooor...! (Daj mi trochę miłości!), w reżyserii José María Forqué i Francisco Maciána. Ich piosenka „Going Nowhere” ze ścieżki dźwiękowej do Los chicos con las chicas została ponownie wydana jako część serii Rhino Records, Nuggets II: Original Artyfacts from the British Empire and Beyond, 1964-1969.

Jeden z członków założycieli Los Bravos, Manuel Fernández, popełnił samobójstwo 20 maja 1968 roku, w wieku 23 lat, po śmierci swojej żony, Lottie Rey, w wypadku samochodowym. Również w tym samym roku Kogel opuścił grupę, aby rozwijać karierę solową pod pseudonimem Mike Kennedy. Został zastąpiony jako wokalista przez Boba Wrighta, a następnie Anthony'ego (Tony) Andersona. W 2015 roku Mike Kennedy ponownie połączył siły z Miguelem Vicensem Danusem pod nazwą Los Bravos, aby nagrać nową studyjną wersję „Black Is Black”. Nowe nagranie zostało oficjalnie wydane w iTunes i zmontowane w celu stworzenia teledysku.

W 2019 roku Miguel Vicens Danus i Pablo Sanllehi wyznaczyli Bruce'a Game na nowego wokalistę, aby nagrać nowy album. Wydali dwa single w 2020 roku na iTunes i spotify pod nazwą Los Bravos. Są to „Musisz być silny” i „Rydwan”.

Najnowsza płyta legendarnego zespołu z Coventry, The Specials. Tym razem Terry Hall i spółka wzięli na warsztat dwanaście utworów pochodzących z okresu 1924-2012, określanych mianem protest songów i nagrali je we własnych, nowych aranżacjach, rezygnując tym razem z typowego dla siebie brzmienia 2 Tone. Niemniej płyta jest bardzo dobra (dla mnie osobiście najlepszy album 2021 roku), a wśród piosenek usłyszymy covery m.in. Boba Marleya, Franka Zappy czy Roda McKuena. Całość uzupełniają dwa utwory nagrane podczas koncertu w katedrze w Coventry z 2019 roku.

BZN started out as a pop-rock band in their native Volendam in 1966, playing early-Bee Gees-like harmony pop. The initial line-up consisted of Jan Veerman (vocals), Cees Tol (guitar), Evert Woestenburg (guitar) Jan Tuyp (bass guitar) and Gerrit Woestenburg (drums).

In the early Seventies, the band switched to hard rock and had its first successes, including a brace of Top 40 hits. After original singer Veerman left and drummer Keizer took his place behind the microphone, the band made a musical U-turn and opted for commercial radio pop, adding female co-vocalist Annie Schilder and laying the foundation for their status as the most popular Dutch band ever (in terms of hit singles and albums). BZN has had over 50 hits in the Dutch hit parade to date.

Queen – brytyjski zespół rockowy utworzony w 1970 w Londynie przez Briana Maya, Rogera Taylora i Freddiego Mercury’ego. Basista John Deacon dołączył do grupy rok później.

Muzyka Queen odznacza się różnorodnością brzmienia, sprawiającą, że zespół trudno jest przypisać do konkretnego stylu. Większość utworów nosi cechy rocka i jego odmian (hard rock, art rock, rock progresywny) oraz, w pewnym stopniu, muzyki pop. Charakterystyczną cechą zespołu są też wielowarstwowe aranżacje, harmonie wokalne oraz aktywny udział publiczności podczas koncertów.

W 2001 grupa Queen została wprowadzona do Rock and Roll Hall of Fame w USA, a 11 listopada 2004 do Hall of Fame w Wielkiej Brytanii. W 2007 Queen została wybrana najlepszą brytyjską grupą wszech czasów przez słuchaczy BBC Radio 2.


John Richard Deacon (ur. 1951) jest najmłodszym członkiem zespołu i wstąpił do niego najpóźniej (1971). Z wykształcenia jest elektronikiem. Przed Deaconem zespół próbował współpracy z kilkoma basistami – Mike Grose (3 koncerty), Barry Mitchell (9 koncertów), Doug Bogie (2 koncerty). Pierwszy występ z Deaconem miał miejsce 2 lipca 1971. Brian May wspominał później: Czuliśmy, że jest on tym właściwym, chociaż był taki spokojny. Prawie wcale się do nas nie odzywał!.

Deacon jest autorem następujących utworów: „You’re My Best Friend”, „Spread Your Wings”, „Another One Bites the Dust”, „I Want to Break Free” oraz „Friends Will Be Friends”, który napisał wspólnie z Freddiem Mercurym. Jest też konstruktorem wzmacniacza, którego Brian May używał przez cały okres swojej kariery muzycznej i używa do dziś – Deacy Amp. Współpracował gościnnie m.in. z Anitą Dobson, Cozym Powellem, Eltonem Johnem, a także przy solowych projektach pozostałych członków Queen. Po śmierci Mercury’ego coraz rzadziej brał udział w projektach związanych z Queen, w końcu wycofując się całkowicie z branży muzycznej po wydaniu Made in Heaven w 1995, zgodził się jednak na wspólne nagranie utworu „No-One but You (Only the Good Die Young)” z pozostałymi członkami zespołu w 1997. Ostatni raz wystąpił z Eltonem Johnem 17 stycznia 1997 w Paryżu na gali Maurice’a Bejarta wykonując „The Show Must Go On”.


Brian Harold May (ur. 1947) rozpoczął karierę muzyczną w wieku 15 lat, grając w lokalnych zespołach. Rok później rozpoczął wraz z ojcem budowę swojej własnej gitary, Red Special. W 1967 rozpoczął studia na wydziale fizyki w Imperial College w Londynie. Na uczelni poznał Tima Staffella i Rogera Taylora, z którymi założył zespół Smile. Grupa rozpadła się po wydaniu jednego singla, ale Staffell przed swoim odejściem poznał Maya i Taylora z Mercurym i ta trójka wkrótce potem założyła Queen.

May jest autorem takich przebojów, jak „We Will Rock You”, „The Show Must Go On”, „I Want It All”, „Who Wants to Live Forever”, „Save Me”. Po śmierci Mercury’ego poświęcił się karierze solowej, ale angażował się również w projekty związane z Queen (w tym prace nad albumem Made in Heaven), zaś w latach 2005–2008 występował wraz z Rogerem Taylorem i Paulem Rodgersem pod szyldem Queen + Paul Rodgers. Jest doktorem astronomii i komandorem Orderu Imperium Brytyjskiego.


Farrokh (Frederick) Bulsara (1946–1991) był absolwentem studiów plastycznych w Ealing College of Art. Jednymi z jego pierwszych zespołów były: Sour Milk Sea i Wreckage. Później wraz z Mayem i Taylorem stworzył zespół Queen, a wkrótce potem zmienił nazwisko na Freddie Mercury. To on był pomysłodawcą nazwy, zaprojektował logo i wyznaczył kierunek artystyczny, w którym zespół miał się rozwijać.

Był autorem takich utworów, jak „Killer Queen”, „Bohemian Rhapsody”, „We Are the Champions”, „Crazy Little Thing Called Love”. Oprócz występów z Queen prowadził również działalność solową, m.in. nagrywając album Mr. Bad Guy, a także współpracował z innymi artystami, w tym ze śpiewaczką operową Montserrat Caballé (album Barcelona). Pod koniec lat 80. badanie wykazało, że jest zarażony wirusem HIV. Pomimo choroby, pracował nad nowym materiałem Queen, dopóki był w stanie to robić. Zmarł 24 listopada 1991.


Roger Meddows-Taylor (ur. 1949) początkowo zamierzał zostać gitarzystą, dopiero później zainteresował się perkusją. Studiował stomatologię, później przeniósł się na wydział biologiczny Imperial College. Odpowiedział na ogłoszenie Maya (poszukującego chętnych do współpracy w zespole) tuż po Staffellu.

Roger napisał następujące utwory Queen: „Radio Ga Ga”, „A Kind of Magic”, „Breakthru”, „The Invisible Man” i „These Are the Days of Our Lives”. Od 1981 nagrywał też solowe albumy, zaś w 1987 założył własny zespół, The Cross, w którym był wokalistą i gitarzystą (z repertuaru tej grupy pochodzi utwór „Heaven for Everyone”, który później stał się znany w wykonaniu Queen). W latach 2005–2008, podobnie jak May, występował jako Queen + Paul Rodgers.
