What the Beatles were to the '60s, Led Zeppelin were to the '70s: a band so successful and innovative they wound up creating the prism through which their entire epoch was seen. Zeppelin ushered in the era of album rock -- they refused to release singles off their albums, even when they were garnering massive radio play -- and of arena rock, playing ever-larger stadiums as their ticket sales skyrocketed. Other bands played on a similar field but Led Zeppelin carried a unique mystique cultivated by cryptic album art, distance from the press, and, of course, their music. Drawing upon postwar electric blues, early rock & roll, and psychedelia, Zeppelin created a titanic roar in their earliest days but even then they weren't merely heavy. Underneath the wattage, there was a strong undercurrent of folk-rock and the quartet would soon thread in world music, funk, country, and synthesizers, creating an adventurous body of work that had a long, lasting influence on hard rock, heavy metal, and alternative rock.

Tak jak Toys In The Attic jest dla mnie wizytówką zespołu jeśli chodzi o lata 70-te, to Pump uważam, za najlepszego reprezentanta Aerosmith w całym późniejszym okresie. Zarówno pod względem komercyjnym jak i czysto muzycznym stanowi krok do przodu względem Permanent Vacation.

Zyskuje brzmienie, jest bardziej masywne, ciężkie a zarazem selektywne, dzięki czemu kompozycje takie jak Young Lust, F.I.N.E, Monkey On My Back czy Hoodoo/Voodoo Medicine Man brzmią mocno i potężnie. Jest zarówno energia, jak i nośna przebojowość. Jest wszystko to co chcielibyśmy słyszeć w komercyjnym hard rocku.

Niektóre utwory wzbogacone są o krótkie wstępy. Najbardziej charakterystyczny to chyba dudniący Water Song będący wprowadzeniem do Janie's Got a Gun, która to piosenka - trzeba przyznać - niesamowicie wpada w ucho. Wstępami poprzedzone są też Love in an Elevator i The Other Side, jakby z premedytacją stworzone do bycia następcami Rag Doll i Dude (Looks Like a Lady). Trzeba przyznać, że Aerosmith wyjątkowo zgrabnie radzili sobie w tym czasie z tworzeniem żwawych, wpadających w ucho przebojów w konwencji hardrockowej.

Nieco ostrzej, lecz wciąż przebojowo jest w Monkey on My Back i F.I.N.E, a otwierający album Young Lust to już rockowy żywioł. Ciężej robi się za to w Hoodoo/Voodoo Medicine Man, gdzie mamy bardzo ciekawy riff, budujący upiorny klimat utworu i gwałtowny refren. Dla odmiany, na końcu płyty umieszczona jest urocza ballada What It Takes, w której jest i trochę lukru, i trochę hard rockowej iskry - z zachowanymi proporcjami.

Dla wielbicieli prostego, przebojowego, bardzo gitarowego rocka Pump to lektura obowiązkowa.

This release is collated from all of the BBC owned Lizzy recordings that still exist in the archive and charts the inexorable rise of the band: from the first steps as a three piece on the Decca label, to the glory days as one of the greatest live acts of all time. The BBC gave the band a platform and support at crucial stages in their career and thus "Thin Lizzy Live At The BBC" could be seen essentially as an alternate Greatest Hits, a musical growing up in public. This incredible archive represents a great set of previously unreleased recordings in the Lizzy catalogue. The collection has been brought together by trawling the BBC archives, but also by inviting contributions from fans. The BBC had a habit of wiping tapes after they were broadcast which has meant that some of the Corporation's output has been lost for ever. However thanks to fans recording broadcasts at home a couple of gems have been reclaimed here for this set. This collection brings together a raft of sessions and live recordings form through-out the band's career including the last concert with Phil Lynott from the Reading festival in 1983. Included also is a DVD of the bands sought after appearances on Top of the Pops and the Old Grey Whistle Test a well as concerts from throughout the band's career. This is a first for the band as these recordings have never been available in one place before. With comprehensive notes by Classic Rock's Malcolm Dome who tells the story of the bands history at the BBC Fully supported and endorsed by the band - the current line up but also the original thin Lizzy Live At The BBC" is a triumphant collection of the defining moments of a truly seminal British rock act, as witnessed, broadcast and archived by the voice of the nation, the BBC.

Mr. Bungle – zespół rockowy założony w 1985 roku przez Trevora Dunna (gitara basowa), Mike’a Pattona (śpiew), Treya Spruance’a (gitara elektryczna) i Jeda Wattsa (perkusja). Wattsa zastąpił później Danny Heifetz. Grupa łączyła wiele stylów muzycznych takich jak rock, jazz, funk czy muzyka folk. Jej teksty były często humorystyczne i groteskowe.

Członkowie zespołu (bez Pattona) założyli w 1994 instrumentalny zespół rockowy Secret Chiefs 3, którego muzyka charakteryzuje się silnym wpływem muzyki Bliskiego Wschodu.

W grudniu 2004 w magazynie Rolling Stone został opublikowany artykuł, w którym Mike Patton zasugerował możliwość rozpadu zespołu.

W roku 2019 zespół wznowił działalność, a do tria Patton, Dunn, Spruance dołączyli Scott Ian oraz Dave Lombardo. Zespół wykonywał na koncertach głównie materiał z dema The Raging Wrath of Easter Bunny. Zespół zapowiedział, że nie będzie wykonywał żadnych utworów wydanych przez Warner Bros.

According to Billboard chart statistics, Chicago is second only to the Beach Boys as the most successful American rock band of all time, in terms of both albums and singles. A rock & roll true believer with a poet's heart, the Boss defined mainstream American rock in the late 20th century. Bruce Springsteen once said he intended to make an album with words like Bob Dylan that sounded like Phil Spector where he sang like Roy Orbison, a nifty summary of many, but not all, of his artistic ambitions and a key to his appeal. Unlike any of the other singer/songwriters saddled with the appellation of "the new Dylan" in the early '70s, Springsteen never hid how he was raised on '60s AM radio. He loved rock & roll, whether it was the initial blast from the '50s or the mini-symphonies from the days before the Beatles or the garage rockers that surfaced in the wake of the British Invasion, and all this could be heard within his wild, wooly collective the E Street Band, a group who debuted on his second album, 1973's The Wild The Innocent & The E Street Shuffle, and who would support him through most of his career.

Toto defined the slick, smooth sound of Southern California in the late '70s and early '80s. This isn't quite the same thing as saying Toto solely played soft rock, although they contributed their share of adult contemporary standards, both as a band and as session musicians for Steely Dan, Boz Scaggs, George Benson, and Michael Jackson. Veterans of high-end Los Angeles studios, guitarist Steve Lukather, keyboardists David Paich and Steve Porcaro, drummer Jeff Porcaro, and bassist David Hungate could play anything from soul to hard rock, which they proceeded to do on Toto's earliest albums. They were a hit right out of the gate in 1978, with "Hold the Line" rocketing to number five, but their career was made by their 1982 album Toto IV, an immaculate collection of pop/rock confections that spun off three Billboard Top Ten hits -- "Rosanna," "Africa," and "I Won't Hold You Back" -- on its way to winning five Grammys. Toto IV was such a big hit that Toto forever lived in its shadow, but the group persevered over the next four decades, withstanding numerous personnel changes -- and one extended hiatus -- as they stayed in the studio and on the road, maintaining a cult following while their classic catalog, particularly "Africa," earned new generations of listeners.

Pat Benatar emerged at the dawn of the 1980s with a sound that mixed the soaring power chords of arena rock with a combination of tough grit and mainstream pop sense. Songs like 1979's "Heartbreaker" and "Hit Me with Your Best Shot," from her acclaimed sophomore album Crimes of Passion, made her an international star ahead of 1981's chart-topping Precious Time. During the front half of the decade, Benatar became an icon of the early MTV era, earning four Grammy Awards and stringing together a series of gritty pop anthems like "Love Is a Battlefield" and "We Belong," major hits that remain motivational classics and staples of classic rock radio. After 1985's "Invincible," her popularity began to falter somewhat and her output subsequently fell off during the '90s. After 2003's Go, Benatar entered a recording hiatus that was eventually broken by a handful of stand-alone singles at the end of the 2010s. She also published a memoir, Between a Heart and a Rock Place.
