America – brytyjsko-amerykańskie trio folk rockowe, wykonujące również soft rocka z nurtu Americana.

Grupa została założona w 1969 roku przez Geralda Beckleya, Deweya Bunnella i Dana Peeka, muzyków zafascynowanych dokonaniami takich zespołów jak Crosby, Stills & Nash oraz The Byrds. Styl zespołu America można przyporządkować również do kilku innych muzycznych kategorii wewnątrz zjawiska folk rocka, zwłaszcza do sunshine popu, reprezentowanego przez zespoły takie jak The Mamas and the Papas.

America założona została jako zespół amerykańsko-brytyjski w roku 1969 w Londynie. Początkowe dokonania grupy utrzymane były w stylistyce supergrupy Crosby, Stills & Nash. Dopiero w roku 1971 zespół zadebiutował albumem America, na którym znalazły się najsłynniejsze jego kompozycje – "Sandman", "I Need You" czy "A Horse With No Name".

W dorobku zespołu America są utwory takie jak Sandman czy California Dreamin', które swobodne przechodzą z melancholijnych nastrojów folk rocka, po tajemniczość rocka psychodelicznego. Towarzyszył temu pełen ekspresji śpiew Gerry’ego Bleckleya, głównego wokalisty. Najczęściej jednak muzyka grupy oparta była na pogodnym, elektroakustycznym brzmieniu i łagodnych wokalizach. Charakterystyczne dla zespołu było wykorzystywanie efektów z zakresu muzyki elektronicznej oraz sprawne łączenie stylu folk z lekko popowym brzmieniem. Największym przebojem grupy America jest ballada A Horse with No Name. Inne znane utwory to: Sandman, I Need You, Don't Cross The River czy Everyone I meet is from California.

Eldkvarn to szwedzki zespół rockowy założony w Norrköping w 1971 roku. Grupa, której najbardziej znany skład tworzą Plura Jonsson, Carla Jonsson i Tony Thorén, a także inni artyści, jest uważana za jedną z najlepszych grup rockowych w Szwecji, z następującymi w innych krajach skandynawskich, jak również.

Zespół nagrał ponad 20 pełnometrażowych płyt LP i CD.

Bracia Jonsson i Tony Thorén zaczęli grać razem w Norrköping w 1971 roku pod nazwą „Piska mig hårt”. Nazwa nie była do końca niekontrowersyjna, a jeden z koncertów zespołu był reklamowany pod nazwą „Blixt & dunder”. Członkowie ostatecznie przenieśli się do Sztokholmu, a zespół powstał wokół jednego z wielu ówczesnych kolektywów. W lutym 1974 zespół został nagrany przez audycję radiową Tonkraft. Dzięki kontaktom z członkami Blå Tåget, zespół nawiązał kontakt z wytwórnią płytową MNW i nagrał tam płytę. Album nie odniósł jednak wielkiego sukcesu, aw ruchu muzycznym introwertyczny zespół o dziwnej nazwie i niezbyt politycznych tekstach był często postrzegany jako obcy ptak.

Zespół został zreorganizowany kilka lat później.

Byzantium to angielski zespół muzyki psychodelicznej z lat 70., który wydał trzy albumy i wykonał jedną sesję Peel. Być może najlepiej pamięta się ich rolę we wczesnych karierach Shane'a Fontayne'a, Chaza Jankela i Robina Sylvestra.

Utworzony jako szkolny zespół w University College School w Hampstead w Londynie, w pierwotnym składzie znaleźli się Nico Ramsden, Robin Lamble i Stevie Corduner, do których wkrótce dołączył Chaz Jankel. Robin Sylvester i Jamie Rubinstein, którzy również studiowali na UCS, obaj współpracowali w tym czasie, Jamie jako autor piosenek, a Robin jako inżynier nagrań, aranżer, a później współproducent.

Byzantium mieli zagrać na słynnym Greasy Truckers Party w lutym 1972 roku, ale nie mogli się pojawić z powodu przerwy w dostawie prądu, jednak zostali zarejestrowani przez A&M Records. Zagrali na festiwalu Great Western Express w Bardney w maju 1972 roku z udziałem Shane'a Fontayne'a i Micka Barakana, a także młodego Chaza Jankela i gitarzysty Neville'a Nixona z Third Ear Band

W 1972 roku Lamble, Jankel, Ramsden i Corduner nagrali Byzantium, opracowane przez Roya Thomasa Bakera i wyprodukowane przez Stuarta Taylora i Robina Sylvestera w Trident Studios w Londynie, na którym gościnnie pojawili się Rubenstein, Alan Skidmore (saksofon) i Frank Ricotti (kotły). Pomiędzy nagraniem a wydaniem albumu Ramsden odszedł, a Rubenstein i Barakan ponownie dołączyli.

Na kolejnym albumie Seasons Changing wystąpili Lamble, Jankel, Barakan, Rubenstein i Corduner, wspomagani przez BJ Cole'a na pedałach, Ricottiego na perkusji oraz Davida Hentschela i Sylvestera na syntezatorach. Zainteresowania Jankela skierowały się w stronę muzyki soul, więc odszedł, a wkrótce potem A&M porzucił Byzantium.

W 1974 roku nagrali Live and Studio w składzie zespołu, w skład którego wchodzili Jamie Rubenstein na 12-strunowej gitarze, gitarzysta Mick Barakan (później znany jako Shane Fontayne), basista Robin Lamble i perkusista Steve Corduner. Album, składający się z jednej strony z 5 utworów studyjnych i jednego z 3 utworów na żywo, głównie w psychodelicznym stylu, został wyprodukowany samodzielnie w ramach promocji, a na tylnej okładce napisano: „Byzantium poszukuje ciężko pracującej agencji, firmy nagraniowej i wydawnictwa”. Wytłoczono tylko 100, co czyni go niezwykle kolekcjonerskim i chociaż „fani uważali to za swój najlepszy zestaw,… niewielu było w stanie wiedzieć”.

Zespół zagrał swoją jedyną Peel Session w kwietniu 1974 roku, kiedy to w ich składzie byli Rubinstein, Barakan, Lamble i Corduner. Byzantium kontynuowało trasę koncertową do końca 1975 roku, kiedy zagrali swój ostatni koncert w The Roundhouse.

The Replacements – amerykańska grupa rockowa z lat 80.

Zespół został założony w Minneapolis w 1979 roku pod nazwą Impediments. Jego skład tworzyli wokalista i gitarzysta Paul Westerberg, basista Tommy Stinson, gitarzysta Bob Stinson oraz perkusista Chris Mars. Zespół zadebiutował albumem Sorry Ma, Forgot to Take out the Trash wydanym w 1981 roku nakładem Twin/Tone Records.

Pozycje zespołu ugruntował album Pleased to Meet Me z 1987 roku. W międzyczasie zespół opuścił Bob Stinson, a jego miejsce zajął Slim Dunlap. Po nagraniu albumu All Shook Down w 1990 roku odszedł Chris Mars. Rok później zespół rozpadł się. Po rozpadzie Paul Westerberg rozpoczął karierę solową, a Tommy Stinson utworzył zespół Bash and Pop.

Utwór „I Will Dare”, pochodzący z albumu Let It Be został umieszczony na liście 500 piosenek, które ukształtowały rock utworzonej przez Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
