Capitol/UMe and Frank Sinatra Enterprises celebrate the 60th anniversary of Frank Sinatra’s Nice ‘n’ Easy, another iconic album in a series of collaborations between Sinatra and arranger/conductor Nelson Riddle with a special anniversary edition.

Originally released on Capitol Records in July 1960, the Nice 'n' Easy album topped the charts at #1 for nine weeks.The album was nominated for multiple Grammys, including Album of the Year, Best Male Vocal Performance, and Best Arrangement (Nelson Riddle). Since its original release, Sinatra’s body of work still resonates with fans and critics today.

Recorded during the Nelson Riddle session at the Capitol Studios, Room A, “The Nearness of You” was initially intended to be the title track of the planned album. Once “Nice ‘n’ Easy” was delivered, the album title changed, and the track did not appear on the original LP.

Now, the original master of “The Nearness of You” (2020 mix) will be made available for the first time on the CD and digital versions of the album for which it was intended. The CD and digital formats add the new stereo mix “The Nearness of You” (2020 mix) and sought-after bonus tracks: previously unreleased session takes of “I’ve Got A Crush on You and “Nice ‘N’ Easy.”

The CD packaging features liner notes with quotes from Frank Sinatra, who offers, “Nelson is the greatest arranger in the world.

I have the greatest respect for him,” as well as quotes from Nelson Riddle, Sinatra’s longtime pianist Bill Miller, and others.

This 2 CD set does indeed collect all recordings that Fats recorded for Associated Transcription Service. Fats did two sessions for Associated, the first in 1935, the second in 1939. Both sessions find Fats in fine form at two different junctures of his career. In the 1935 session, Fats plays and sings a few medleys of his recent songs he had recorded under his new contract with RCA Victor. In some instances he is joined by his band mate Rudy Powell on clarinet and alto saxophone. While Powell's tone quality is a bit harsh, his ability as a creative improviser is superb. There are some single piano solos as well and these are simply great. Disc two contains the 1939 session. Fats is joined by his regular group. It should be noted that in the years between the two sessions, Fats recorded extensively for Victor but many of the tunes were second rate. Fats' recordings of his own compositions and piano solos became few and far between. Because he had more freedom at Associated, it's no surprise that he chose more of his own tunes as well as standards that he admired. The jazz factor also seems to be a bit higher as well. Disc two ends with five dramatic piano solos. Along the way there are alternate takes and several fragments. There is a printing error. Disc one contains a piano solo simply titled E Flat Blues. Disc two has a track with the same title but it is B Flat Blues. These recordings have been availble in different pieces for years and it's really great that they are all completely together in one package. Sound quality is outstanding overall.

This two-CD, 43-track box set is the most comprehensive retrospective of Motown's biggest female star before Diana Ross. Although her first hit, "Bye Bye Baby," presented Wells as a blues belter, she quickly settled into a sly and sassy groove. Subsequent hits like "You Beat Me to the Punch," "Two Lovers," and "My Guy" (all included here) made the most of her shy, seductive voice by teaming her with some great songs and production by Smokey Robinson. Although many of these tunes were relegated to B-sides, album tracks, or even the can (11 were previously unreleased), the material -- written by Motown stalwarts like Berry Gordy, Holland-Dozier-Holland, and Mickey Stevenson when Smokey was unavailable -- is not far below the hits in quality. This is as much a testimony to Motown's overflow of prolific talent as Wells', but doesn't detract from the consistency of this set, which includes her duets with Marvin Gaye (as well as a previously unreleased duet with Smokey Robinson). Includes a comprehensive essay in the photo-packed booklet, although the mysterious absence of the excellent "Was It Worth It" is a notable loss.

Savage Garden – australijski duet założony w 1994 w Brisbane w Australii. Jego skład tworzył Darren Hayes (wokalista) i Daniel Jones (gitarzysta i klawiszowiec). Grupa prezentowała piosenki w stylu pop, chociaż zdarzały się utwory nagrywane w stylu rocka alternatywnego.

Międzynarodowy sukces grupy przypadł na lata 1997-2001, kiedy to został wydany debiutancki album zatytułowany po prostu Savage Garden, z którego cztery single (m.in. "To the Moon and Back" czy "Truly Madly Deeply") znalazły się w czołowych listach przebojów. Sam album osiągnął pierwszą pozycję w Australii i znalazł się w pierwszej dziesiątce w Wielkiej Brytanii i Stanach Zjednoczonych.

Pod koniec 1999 ukazał się drugi album zatytułowany Affirmation. Płyta zajęła pierwsze miejsce w Australii i ostatecznie zdobyła 8-krotną platynę (jedną w USA), głównie dzięki singlowi "I Knew I Loved You".

W 2005 debiutancka płyta zdobyła aż 12-krotną platynę w Australii, 7-krotną w USA, 3-krotną w Kanadzie a 2-krotną w Nowej Zelandii, Singapurze i Wielkiej Brytanii.

W 2001 roku duet zakończył swoją karierę, a jego członkowie rozpoczęli kariery solowe.
