Po mieszanym przyjęciu wydanej w 1988 płyty Rattle and Hum, wokalista grupy Bono ogłosił, że grupa będzie musiała „odejść i wymyślić wszystko na nowo”. Wydana na czarnym krążku edycja albumu Wojciecha Skowrońskiego, sygnowanego jedynie nazwiskiem muzyka, podąża podobną ścieżką co starszy
o trzy lata debiut artysty „Blues and Rock”. To znowu mariaż bluesa, rock’n’rolla i niezwykle charakterystycznej wokalnej ekspresji przywołującej skojarzenia z gospel. Całość brzmi jednak inaczej, bardziej stylowo i miękko, uciekając w stronę amerykańskich produkcji z tego okresu. To z jednej strony zasługa nowego składu, w którym dużą rolę odgrywał grający na gitarze Edmund Klaus, a z drugiej – obecność piana Fendera, które w większości utworów zastąpiło liderowi akustyczny fortepian. Stąd nawet zwykłe bluesy („Szósta rano na trasie”) mają bardziej soulowe brzmienie, a żywsze utwory uciekają w stronę funku.

Obok przebojowych piosenek (wspomniane już „Ja to się cieszę byle czym”), odniesień do swingu (ciekawa wersja „Stompin’ at the Savoy”) czy fortepianowego boogie („Cały świat jaśnieje”) w programie płyty nie zabrakło dłuższych form. Skowroński chętnie rozwijał wybrane utwory na koncertach, wypełniając je po brzegi rozbudowanymi improwizacjami. „Blues jest widowiskiem muzycznym, wynikającym ze szczerości przeżycia” – tłumaczył Zygmuntowi Kiszakiewiczowi. „W przeciwieństwie np. do rewii lub operetki, gdzie wszystko polega na kunsztownie wyważonej sztuczności, podczas koncertu bluesowego słuchacze są świadkami rodzenia się muzyki: ogromnie wiele w tym improwizacji, spontaniczności, niewymuszonej zabawy. Nawet najbardziej oklepany standard może tu być podany dziś zupełnie inaczej niż wczoraj, a jutro inaczej niż dziś”. Takimi wehikułami dla dłuższych popisów na płycie stały się utwory „Za jasną rzeką” i „Do tych dni, kolorowych dni”. Pierwszy z nich przyciąga uwagę ciekawą rytmiką i udanymi dialogami gitary i głosu, drugi zaś jest modelowym przykładem polskiego funku (z doskonałym gitarowym riffem).
