FAM (Furor Arma Ministrat) powstał w 2005 roku z inicjatywy Darka Młodego i Stokera, członków DISSENTER. Pierwszy materiał zatytułowany Panzergrind EP został nagrany w 2006 roku. Debiutancki album Bullet(in) ukazał się w 2007 roku dzięki singapurskiej wytwórni Scrotum Jus Records.
Kolejne wydawnictwo, nagrane w nowym składzie, to split CD Radical Circus Team z Nuclear Vomit i Grindbashers (Let It Bleed Records) z 2013.
Rok 2016 przyniósł kolejny pełny album Human Cargo wydany w Deformeathing Production. Formed in 2005 by Darek Młody and Stoker, both members of DISSENTER, FAM (Furor Arma Ministrat) quickly established themselves within the underground extreme metal scene. Their first recording, the Panzergrind EP, was completed in 2006, followed by the debut album Bullet(in) in 2007 through Singapore-based Scrotum Jus Records.
In 2013, a revamped lineup recorded the split CD Radical Circus Team alongside Nuclear Vomit and Grindbashers, released by Let It Bleed Records. Three years later, FAM returned with their second full-length effort, Human Cargo, issued by Deformeathing Production.
FAM's third full-length album, Fascinated About Mortality, was recorded at PanzerStudio in Myszków and released shortly before the global pandemic in 2019.
The year 2025 marked a significant milestone for the band. Their long sold-out debut album Bullet(in) was reissued by High Voltage Production, featuring a brand-new mix and newly recorded vocals. The release also included a previously unreleased Dead Infection cover as a bonus track. The reissue premiered at the Injure Grind Attack Festival, where FAM celebrated twenty years of activity. Around the same time, the band released another split CD through FatAss Records, this time with Death Endorser. The release featured two new studio tracks, cover versions of Parricide and Impetigo, and three live recordings.
Recorded once again at PanzerStudio in Myszków, Pleasure Of Torture captures FAM in a new lineup and delivers ten tracks of uncompromising grind-infused brutal death metal, alongside a cover of Necrophil. The album will be released through Selfmadegod Records later this year.
Throughout their career, FAM has performed extensively across Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Germany, while also appearing at renowned extreme metal festivals such as Obscene Extreme Festival and Nice To Eat You Deathfest and have shared the stage with some of the most respected names in extreme metal, including Napalm Death, Suffocation, Anaal Nathrakh, Sinister, Incantation, Defeated Sanity, Benighted, Fleshcrawl, and Rotten Sound.

Trzeci duży album długodystansowców z Włoch. 14 utworów brutalnego death/grind!

Dla fanów CATTLE DECAPITATION, CARCASS, wczesnego NAPALM DEATH...


Ostatnimi czasy docierają do mnie z Półwyspu Apenińskiego coraz to ciekawsze wydawnictwa tamtejszych zespołów, dzięki którym moja opinia o przeciętności włoskiej sceny powoli, acz sukcesywnie zostaje weryfikowana in plus niej samej. Niedawno zachwyciłem się grind death metalowym GRIMNES 69 i nomen omen CADAVERIC CREMATORIUM stylistycznie obraca się w bardzo podobnych klimatach ze wskazaniem na zdecydowaną przewagę grindu. "Grindpeace" zawiera 12 kompozycji ostrego, rytmicznego łamacza kości, mocno zainspirowanego klasykami gatunku oraz mniej amerykańskimi kombinatorami skupionymi wokół RELAPSE. Generalnie koledzy nie wiele odkrywczego do gatunku nie wnoszą, natomiast w nim samym poruszają się z wyjątkową łatwością i polotem, mówiąc krótko czują się jak ryby w wodzie. Wyjątkowo długie, jak na grindowe kanony, kompozycje, silnie zróżnicowane rytmicznie, okraszone przeróżnymi samplami o dużej dawce humoru i krwistą merytoryką. Wszystko osadzone na death metalowych strukturach aranżacyjnych, z wysuniętymi do przodu mięsistymi gitarami, które chwilami wręcz wbijają swoim brzmieniem słuchacza w ziemię. Przyzwoicie mieszająca sekcja rytmiczna o bardzo dynamicznej pracy perkusji połączonej z grzmiącym basem to również poważny atut w kwestii instrumentalnych możliwości zespołu. Ponadto mamy oczywiście wokale przeróżnej maści i urody, czyli wrzaski, growle, prosiaki, ale niekoniecznie ekstrema?.Chociażby zaskakujący tenor czy chór w "Nessun Muoia". Obowiązkowo materiał wzbogacony o cały arsenał, piardów, smarków, rzygowin i innych gastro - fekalnych klimatów, mogący odstraszyć, co bardziej wrażliwych. Różnorodny i pomysłowy materiał o klarownej produkcji powinien bezwątpienia przypaść do gustu miłośnikom zarówno mocno rozrywkowego hałasu, jak również bardziej inteligentnych form dzikiego napierdalania. Jak słychać, widać i czuć Włosi postawili na uniwersalizm oraz otwartość swoich potencjalnych odbiorców, co bez dwóch zdań wszystkim zainteresowanym powinno wyjść na zdrowie. Jeżeli o mnie chodzi zostałem w pełni zaspokojony!!! Wysłuchałem płyty kilkakrotnie, kilka fragmentów zanuciłem przy goleniu i jeszcze wiele razy wrócę do tej płyty?..Jest moc, są jaja, a przede wszystkim mnóstwo polotu?.Nie, nie zanudziłem się tym materiałem, bo cóż więcej mogą chcieć tygrysy?!

Psychozine

This act are a product of the influx of creativity and genius that captured the Italian death metal scene in the late-90’s/early-00’s, and produced some of the greatest technical/progressive metal outfits ever: Gory Blister, Coram Lethe, Psychofagist, Aydra, Karnak (their extension Goldenseed as well), Murder Therapy, etc. CC differed from the batch mostly due to their penchant for including less restrained grindcore elements into their death metal dish although there was nothing overtly outrageous akin to the early Napalm Death atrocities, for example; it was highly sophisticated, technical stuff even on the marginally less polished debut which came out a few months after the Czechs T.O.O.H.’s “From Higher Will”, the ultimate technical grind/death hybrid, the highest point in the annals of extreme (un)controlled musical chaos.

The sophomore boasted much better production qualities, and with an increased musical swagger, more influences from other styles, and more complex labyrinthine structures the band nearly hit the top although grindcore wasn’t such a tangible presence anymore regardless of the title. On the album reviewed here it doesn’t quite come back with full force, but the band obviously prefer slightly misleading album-titles, also showing their infatuation with their roots this way. “Necropolis Pt.1” is an awesome opener also being way longer than the staple material featured on the guys’ works, lasting for over 5-min. Not to worry as the chaos is complete with sharp chainsaw-like riffs flying from all sides, racing with the speed of light, with frequent slower breakdowns creating a lot of drama alongside more moderate thrashy sections this eventful cavalcade supervised by screamy deathy vocals that nearly reach the point of hysteria at times, changing the pitch from lower guttural to higher black-ish in no time, adding more to the over-the-top dramatic colouring of this composition. It’s interesting to note that despite the presence of the traditional short outbursts the band continue to stick to longer, more complex cuts one of which is “B.B.Q.”, a great reminder of Carcass’ legendary “Necroticism…” with the twisted riffage and the abrupt time and tempo shifts.

“Big Show” is a more optimistic, more frolic piece with thrash/crossover shades, but “Matando el Torero” cancels those stripped-down attempts with a portion of dazzling super-technical crescendos reaching Necrophagist-esque heights for a while there; the talent exhibited is admirable with some bizarre operatic singing thrown on top of the closing doomy exit. The masterpieces keep coming, though, “The Butcher, Chapter One” another stylish nod to mid-period Carcass with the interesting melodic embellishments and the eccentric twists and turns; and “Human Bucher and the Living Dead” is a fine galloper initially before pounding strokes come crawling, in their turn superseded by superb mazey intricate rifforamas the latter’s complexity relieved by several more linear speedy excursions towards the end. “Subunderground” comes marching with heavy doomy rhythms for a start before the technical wizardry is unleashed although the slower, more standard interruptions are more regular here. The title-track is the last technical “mad hatter” the band playing around with more flexible rhythms changing the pace more frequently, not relying on speed so much.

The band haven’t betrayed their staple sound, and by making some of the tracks longer they’ve managed to focus on more elaborate configurations which to these ears work better than the short electric shocks that seemed to dominate the landscape earlier. Trzeci duży album długodystansowców z Włoch. 14 utworów brutalnego death/grind!

Dla fanów CATTLE DECAPITATION, CARCASS, wczesnego NAPALM DEATH...


Ostatnimi czasy docierają do mnie z Półwyspu Apenińskiego coraz to ciekawsze wydawnictwa tamtejszych zespołów, dzięki którym moja opinia o przeciętności włoskiej sceny powoli, acz sukcesywnie zostaje weryfikowana in plus niej samej. Niedawno zachwyciłem się grind death metalowym GRIMNES 69 i nomen omen CADAVERIC CREMATORIUM stylistycznie obraca się w bardzo podobnych klimatach ze wskazaniem na zdecydowaną przewagę grindu. "Grindpeace" zawiera 12 kompozycji ostrego, rytmicznego łamacza kości, mocno zainspirowanego klasykami gatunku oraz mniej amerykańskimi kombinatorami skupionymi wokół RELAPSE. Generalnie koledzy nie wiele odkrywczego do gatunku nie wnoszą, natomiast w nim samym poruszają się z wyjątkową łatwością i polotem, mówiąc krótko czują się jak ryby w wodzie. Wyjątkowo długie, jak na grindowe kanony, kompozycje, silnie zróżnicowane rytmicznie, okraszone przeróżnymi samplami o dużej dawce humoru i krwistą merytoryką. Wszystko osadzone na death metalowych strukturach aranżacyjnych, z wysuniętymi do przodu mięsistymi gitarami, które chwilami wręcz wbijają swoim brzmieniem słuchacza w ziemię. Przyzwoicie mieszająca sekcja rytmiczna o bardzo dynamicznej pracy perkusji połączonej z grzmiącym basem to również poważny atut w kwestii instrumentalnych możliwości zespołu. Ponadto mamy oczywiście wokale przeróżnej maści i urody, czyli wrzaski, growle, prosiaki, ale niekoniecznie ekstrema?.Chociażby zaskakujący tenor czy chór w "Nessun Muoia". Obowiązkowo materiał wzbogacony o cały arsenał, piardów, smarków, rzygowin i innych gastro - fekalnych klimatów, mogący odstraszyć, co bardziej wrażliwych. Różnorodny i pomysłowy materiał o klarownej produkcji powinien bezwątpienia przypaść do gustu miłośnikom zarówno mocno rozrywkowego hałasu, jak również bardziej inteligentnych form dzikiego napierdalania. Jak słychać, widać i czuć Włosi postawili na uniwersalizm oraz otwartość swoich potencjalnych odbiorców, co bez dwóch zdań wszystkim zainteresowanym powinno wyjść na zdrowie. Jeżeli o mnie chodzi zostałem w pełni zaspokojony!!! Wysłuchałem płyty kilkakrotnie, kilka fragmentów zanuciłem przy goleniu i jeszcze wiele razy wrócę do tej płyty?..Jest moc, są jaja, a przede wszystkim mnóstwo polotu?.Nie, nie zanudziłem się tym materiałem, bo cóż więcej mogą chcieć tygrysy?!

Psychozine

This act are a product of the influx of creativity and genius that captured the Italian death metal scene in the late-90’s/early-00’s, and produced some of the greatest technical/progressive metal outfits ever: Gory Blister, Coram Lethe, Psychofagist, Aydra, Karnak (their extension Goldenseed as well), Murder Therapy, etc. CC differed from the batch mostly due to their penchant for including less restrained grindcore elements into their death metal dish although there was nothing overtly outrageous akin to the early Napalm Death atrocities, for example; it was highly sophisticated, technical stuff even on the marginally less polished debut which came out a few months after the Czechs T.O.O.H.’s “From Higher Will”, the ultimate technical grind/death hybrid, the highest point in the annals of extreme (un)controlled musical chaos.

The sophomore boasted much better production qualities, and with an increased musical swagger, more influences from other styles, and more complex labyrinthine structures the band nearly hit the top although grindcore wasn’t such a tangible presence anymore regardless of the title. On the album reviewed here it doesn’t quite come back with full force, but the band obviously prefer slightly misleading album-titles, also showing their infatuation with their roots this way. “Necropolis Pt.1” is an awesome opener also being way longer than the staple material featured on the guys’ works, lasting for over 5-min. Not to worry as the chaos is complete with sharp chainsaw-like riffs flying from all sides, racing with the speed of light, with frequent slower breakdowns creating a lot of drama alongside more moderate thrashy sections this eventful cavalcade supervised by screamy deathy vocals that nearly reach the point of hysteria at times, changing the pitch from lower guttural to higher black-ish in no time, adding more to the over-the-top dramatic colouring of this composition. It’s interesting to note that despite the presence of the traditional short outbursts the band continue to stick to longer, more complex cuts one of which is “B.B.Q.”, a great reminder of Carcass’ legendary “Necroticism…” with the twisted riffage and the abrupt time and tempo shifts.

“Big Show” is a more optimistic, more frolic piece with thrash/crossover shades, but “Matando el Torero” cancels those stripped-down attempts with a portion of dazzling super-technical crescendos reaching Necrophagist-esque heights for a while there; the talent exhibited is admirable with some bizarre operatic singing thrown on top of the closing doomy exit. The masterpieces keep coming, though, “The Butcher, Chapter One” another stylish nod to mid-period Carcass with the interesting melodic embellishments and the eccentric twists and turns; and “Human Bucher and the Living Dead” is a fine galloper initially before pounding strokes come crawling, in their turn superseded by superb mazey intricate rifforamas the latter’s complexity relieved by several more linear speedy excursions towards the end. “Subunderground” comes marching with heavy doomy rhythms for a start before the technical wizardry is unleashed although the slower, more standard interruptions are more regular here. The title-track is the last technical “mad hatter” the band playing around with more flexible rhythms changing the pace more frequently, not relying on speed so much.

The band haven’t betrayed their staple sound, and by making some of the tracks longer they’ve managed to focus on more elaborate configurations which to these ears work better than the short electric shocks that seemed to dominate the landscape earlier. Finntroll to fiński zespół folkmetalowy, założony w Helsinkach w 1997. Zespół wykonuje skoczną, dynamiczną muzykę, łączącą elementy black metalu i fińskiej polki zwanej humppa. Mimo iż jest to fiński zespół, to teksty utworów są w języku szwedzkim, ponieważ ten język brzmi "cholernie trollowato" według Jamsena, założyciela zespołu, którego ojczystym językiem jest właśnie szwedzki. Finntroll został założony w 1997 roku przez Teemu Raimoranta (Somnium), gitarzystę zespołu Impaled Nazarene oraz Jana Jamsena (Katla). Ich pierwsze demo, Rivfader, zostało nagrane rok później, w 1998 r. Po nagraniu dema do zespołu dołączyli Samu Ruotsalainen (z Barathrum i Rapture), Samuli Ponsimaa, Henri Sorvali (z Moonsorrow) i Sami Uusitalo. Podpisany kontrakt z wytwórnią Spikefarm zaowocowało pierwszą płytą Midnattens Widunder wydaną w 1999 roku. Wstawka zawiera EPkę z 2004 roku oraz trzeci album studyjny, płytę stanowiącą jeden z najważniejszych i najbardziej rozpoznawalnych punktów w dyskografii grupy, łącząc ciężkie, black/death metalowe brzmienia z tradycyjną fińską polką (humppa).

Filii Nigrantium Infernalium began at the end of the eighties under the name Bactherion. They were heavily influenced by bands such as Hellhammer and Necro Schizma. After changing their name to the latin denomination of children of the infernal darkness they released the demo “Os Métodos do Pentagrama”, which was widely distributed within the then growing Black Metal Underground. The Mini CD that followed, “A Era do Abutre”, embraced their Heavy Metal influences, and was much of a Black Heavy hybrid. Entering a lethargic deathlike sleep, they returned from the darkness in 2002 with an EP that foreran their long elusive debut album, which was to be released in 2005 with the name “Fellatrix Discordia Pantokrator”. Releases and performances went on in an erratic way, including a second album, “Pornokrates: Deo Gratias”, in 2013.

HOSTIA has now been recorded and it marks a return to aggressive and unpolished blasphemy.

Those in the know need no introduction to Italian occult metal titans Mortuary Drape, but for those not in the know, they’re cult legends within extreme metal and are often seen as a missing link between the first and second wave of black metal. Regardless, these guys are legends, and despite some considerable time gaps between albums in the span of two decades, the band have finally released their long awaited sixth studio album 'Black Mirror' through the extreme metal powerhouse that is Peaceville Records.

The main thing to expect from Mortuary Drape is a vintage style of black/death metal that’s very steeply rooted in classic 80’s metal akin to Mercyful Fate, and early death metal, but what makes Mortuary Drape unique is their distinct Italian musicality. Their music is of course very brutal and raw, but they have a sense of psychedelic melody and some subtle progressive leanings that evoke the music of the prog band and horror composers Goblin, and more importantly a very distinct funeral like atmosphere that’s the result of all those other elements, though Mortuary Drape don’t make frequent or extensive use of synths and keyboards beyond their 2000’s output.

All that to say that they have a sound that’s pretty much unique to them, and have gone on to inspire countless of bands that want to break away from the second wave Scandinavian black metal mold, and even after almost three decades and with frontman and founder Wildness Perversion being the only remaining original member with a long list of collaborators that have come and gone, is this new album more of the same quality Italian occult black metal, or has the band done something else?

The best thing about Mortuary Drape’s distinct sound and aesthetic is how you can easily identify it once you get into them and as such aside from hearing the improvement in production quality and the music becoming more dynamic, and for 'Black Mirror' while the band still do what they do best, funereal black/death metal, this is also their most straightforward and refined, and their most progressive record yet, in terms of production this album is crisp and impactful, the bass and drums in particular are a major highlight, as long time member S.C. gets to shine with his meaty and complex bass lines that add to the band’s proggy and psychedelic leanings, while drummer M.T. also adds to the musical complexity, and does a damn good job at adding a dynamic rhythm to the music and without over relying on blast beats, and considering he played with prog metal band Aleph, to say he is skilled and talented would be to grossly undersell how good he is on the album.

The guitar work of D.C. and S.R. is also a major highlight, while the bass and drums do the more muscular complexity on the music, the guitars don’t slouch at all, as D.C. and S.R. get to shine with their riffs and especially their soloing, anyone who enjoys good riffs must listen to this album because D.C. and S.R. Not only satisfied, they excelled, and this is without a doubt their best guitar work in the band since they joined in 2010. And last but not least, that leaves the band’s mastermind Wildness Perversion, the man of course has unmistakable vocals, his guttural growling is as good as it ever was, and remains consistent after so long, the biggest praise I can give him is not just how he has manage to keep his vocals as intense and feral as they are, but they successfully fit with the band’s new found refinement, and he even gets to branch with some demonic chanting sprinkled throughout the album.

To conclude the best aspect of the album as a whole and what’s the biggest display of the band’s development is their more doomy and psychedelic flourishes, which is particularly strong in the second half of the album, be they bridge sections with the aforementioned demonic chanting of Wildness Perversion as heard on ‘Rattle Breath’ and ‘Nocturnal Coven’ which is also the band at their most melodic and proggy, or the dark psychedelic intros of ‘Mistress of Sorcerer’ and ‘Fading Flowers Spell’, and best showcased in the haunting closing title track, the band truly display a knack to make dark, entrancing metal without sounding cheesy or disjointed.

Overall, Mortuary Drape continue to be an exemplary band in terms of both their legacy and their willingness to continue expanding and tinkering with their unique sound and style, which is commendable in it of itself considering that if Mortuary Drape wanted, they could stop recording music altogether since their standing is pretty much secured, but because they continue writing and recording, and taking their time doing so yields some excellent music worth listening.

Haunting piano begins our journey into the darkness with a chilling introduction. Eerie vocals and mesmerising guitar riffs pound into a diabolic assault with those extremely strong bass lines that Mortuary Drape have always utilised, harnessing all of the evil spirits that lurk within their soundscapes. Blistering lead work complements the rhythm guitars and battering drums with tight shreds, showing their musicianship as a band is stronger than ever while still feeling occult and vicious as ever. Dancing with the radiant elements of traditional metallic craftsmanship, that timeless feeling at the heart of their music burns bright while the dark flame remains hostile and mysterious. To hear a band quite as highly regarded by myself as Mortuary Drape still putting out mystical and enchanting music of this calibre is magnificent and the opening moments of this record are testimony to this being just as strong as their EP had teased at.

Scathing melodics and bestial artillery intertwine to give us a most majestic and yet visceral listen, continuing to seethe with resplendent oddities. With a production that allows the hard-hitting percussion and absolutely mind-blowing guitar work to enshroud those pounding and vibrant bass lines, there is no escaping the fact Mortuary Drape are sounding more massive than ever, especially with Wildness Perversion’s recognisably inhuman vocals piercing through like a dagger to an exposed chest cavity. The blending of rattling low end and warm mids is gorgeous to listen to, mummifying the mind with their charnel extreme metal delights. As well as the superb musicianship, the songwriting and feel of the record is just so perfectly crafted, casting a shadow over all with their bewildering essence. The heart of this thing is just as punishing and untamed yet blissfully melodious, continuing to unpredictably yet reliably gratify the maniacal urge for occult black metal played properly.

Of course with a band such as Mortuary Drape, a certain magical essence must be present in their music. It is here with abundant clarity, as every moment lurks in a terrifying blend of fantastical horror and sepulchral realism. Earthly and yet with a presence so distant, only this band could make sounds like this and they continue to marvellously. With more dynamics than one could conceive, going from thrashing rage to doomed despair, their sound fills the entire range of tempos, sonics and aesthetics while the consistency of playing real black metal to perfection is always there. Whether primitive or embracing their technical abilities and allowing them to flourish, everything feels sincere and genuinely impassioned with not a second of the running time wasted. A pounding opus of furiously enchanting musical prowess that deserves your undivided attention and adoration if you care for the darker side of extremity. But of course with the name Mortuary Drape on the cover; you already knew that didn’t you?

Combining the continuity of their signature sound with rejuvenated creativity and production advancements, this album is one hundred percent Mortuary Drape without rehashing a singular element, the past is alive and the future still has room for the real masters… A truly triumphant and epic work from one of black metal’s most important artists.
