The Cars' 1978 self-titled debut, issued on the Elektra label, is a genuine rock masterpiece. The band jokingly referred to the album as their "true greatest-hits album," but it's no exaggeration -- all nine tracks are new wave/rock classics, still in rotation on rock radio. Whereas most bands of the late '70s embraced either punk/new wave or hard rock, the Cars were one of the first bands to do the unthinkable -- merge the two styles together. Add to it bandleader/songwriter Ric Ocasek's supreme pop sensibilities, and you had an album that appealed to new wavers, rockers, and Top 40 fans. Of course, Highway to Hell is the final album AC/DC recorded with Bon Scott, the lead singer who provided the group with a fair share of its signature sleaze. Just months after its release, Scott literally partied himself to death (the official cause cited as acute alcohol poisoning) after a night of drinking, a rock & roll fatality that took no imagination to predict. In light of his passing, it's hard not to see Highway to Hell as a last testament of sorts, being that it was his last work and all, and if Scott was going to go out in a blaze of glory, this certainly was the way to do it. This is a veritable rogue's gallery of deviance, from cheerfully clumsy sex talk and drinking anthems to general outlandish behavior. There's a real sense of menace to "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap," the title song of AC/DC's third album. More than most of their songs to date, it captured the seething malevolence of Bon Scott, the sense that he reveled in doing bad things, encouraged by the maniacal riffs of Angus and Malcolm Young who provided him with their most brutish rock & roll yet. But for as glorious as the title track was, the entire album served as a call to arms from a group that wanted nothing more than to celebrate the dirtiest, nastiest instincts humans could have, right down to the insurgent anti-authority vibe that runs throughout the record. Take "Big Balls" -- sure, it's a dirty joke, but it's a dirty joke with class overthrow in mind. Rumours is the kind of album that transcends its origins and reputation, entering the realm of legend -- it's an album that simply exists outside of criticism and outside of its time, even if it thoroughly captures its era. OutKast is celebrating the 20th-anniversary of their seminal album Stankonia with a set of bonus tracks, previously unreleased remixes, streaming bundles and vinyl and digital editions.

According to reports, the digital re-release will arrive in 24-bit and 360 Reality Audio formats, and will feature a total of six bonus tracks that include a remix of “B.O.B. (Bombs Over Baghdad)” by Zack de la Rocha of Rage Against The Machine, a remix of “Ms. Jackson” by Mr. Drunk, a remix of “So Fresh, So Clean” with Snoop Dogg and Sleepy Brown, plus a cappella versions of the three songs. The cuts will also be offered with individual streaming bundles comprised of additional remixes from Fatboy Slim and the Goodie Mob x OutKast collab “Sole Sunday.”

Meanwhile, the Stankonia 20th anniversary vinyl edition will be exclusive to Vinyl Me, Please members as the club’s October record of the month. Pressed on a “Black and White Galaxy” vinyl, the double LP will also come with an art
