Following on from their glorious and lyrical collaborative work on Gone To Earth, David Sylvian and Robert Fripp produced the unexpectedly fiery and funky The First Day in 1993.

Hypnotically groovy and intensely vicious, while showcasing Fripp's Soundscapes identity, the album marked a departure for Sylvian and can be more easily understood as a missing King Crimson link between Three Of A Perfect Pair and Thrak than a typical post-Japan Sylvian venture.


Robert Fripp and David Sylvian's first official release together, The First Day, is a much funkier and more percussive affair than its bootleg predecessor, The Day Before (which contained radically different versions of these songs). An obvious reason for its higher quality is that it was recorded in a studio, while the bootleg consisted of in-concert demos, and the songs here have been worked to completion. Fripp has found an extremely talented singer/partner in Sylvian, who adds a lot to his quirky compositions.

Trey Gunn (who plays a bass-like instrument called the stick) makes each track practically groove and breathe on his own, and allows Fripp to stretch out and experiment in ways previously unheard by this guitar icon. The First Day is a very consistent album, with the musician's excitement and energy easily being felt on such tracks as "God's Monkey," "Brightness," and the ten-minute tour de force "Firepower." Other lengthy tracks follow (the 11-minute "20th Century Dreaming" and the 17-minute "Darshan"), but it never becomes self-indulgent or boring. Certainly one of Robert Fripp's best and more inspired King Crimson side projects.

Recorded on the "Road to Graceland '93" tour at London's Albert Hall. This followed the release of the album The First Day and is considered by many to be superior to its studio counterpart. Originally mixed by Robert Fripp and released in September 1994 it was remixed by David in 2000 and released the following year. The band features Trey Gunn and Michael Brook. Produced, engineered and mixed by David Sylvian at Samachi Sound NH, USA May 2001. New artwork by Shinro Ohtake. Every Colour You Are is now listed in the American way: Every Color You Are. David replaced Darshan with Jean The Birdman, as he believed that this track would fit in better with the rest.

Damage was recorded at the final London concerts in December 1993 and issued in 1994. Whereas the studio album had a measured grace and power, the live album was even more muscular on the rock pieces, drawing some extraordinary performances from all contributors. This made the contrast with the quieter, more ambient material even more pronounced, with audiences able to hear every nuance of the material. David Sylvian had rarely sounded better or more comfortable in a live setting. Robert Fripp provided some of his most blistering solos. Songs from the recent studio album were featured as were fan favourites from David's solo albums and Rain Tree Crow, alongside one new song The First Day. Initially released as a limited edition in 1994, the album quickly sold out and became a highly sought after recording. The album was remixed by David Sylvian and issued in 2001 with a slightly altered track-listing and running order.

With a well-received studio album in the form of The First Day issued in summer 1993, Sylvian/Fripp took to the road for a lengthy tour to support the release. Trey Gunn reprised his role from the earlier tour and studio recordings as stick player, while Pat Mastelotto joined the group on drums, a position which led to his being offered a role in the 1990s King Crimson, a band in which he has remained a member of every line-up since. Producer and recordings artist Michael Brook completed the touring ensemble.

„Try” został wydany jako drugi światowy singiel z albumu i główny singiel w Stanach Zjednoczonych w dniu 9 czerwca 2014 r., A następnego dnia ukazało się wideo z tekstami, w którym wystąpili fani, a także celebrytki, takie jak Hoda Kotb, Miranda Lambert, Sara Bareilles , Katharine McPhee i członkowie Fifth Harmony bez makijażu. Oficjalne wideo pokazuje Caillat wraz z innymi kobietami z makijażem, który usuwają później w filmie. 2 lipca wydała wideo z tekstami piosenek do „Live It Up”. Oficjalny teledysk do „Never Gonna Let You Down” został wydany 25 października. Czwarty album, Gypsy Heart, został wydany dopiero 30 września i został wyprodukowany przez amerykańskiego producenta płytowego Babyface. Zawiera współpracę przy pisaniu piosenek z byłym współautorem, Jasonem Reevesem, a także nowymi współscenarzystami i producentami Maxem Martinem, Julianem Bunettą i Johanem Carlssonem. Album zadebiutował na 17 miejscu listy Billboard 200 na liście przebojów z 18 października 2014 roku, z 16 000 egzemplarzy sprzedanych w pierwszym tygodniu. Od października 2016 roku album sprzedał się w Stanach Zjednoczonych w 91000 egzemplarzy.

Caillat napisał wspólnie z Jasonem Reevesem i Toby Gadem „Chasing the Sun” dla Hilary Duff. Piosenka została wydana jako pierwszy singiel z piątego albumu Duffa. Caillat napisał piosenkę dla The Walking Dead: Songs of Survival Vol. 2 zatytułowany „The Way I Was”, który został dołączony wyłącznie do wersji Walmart albumu ze ścieżką dźwiękową. 9 czerwca 2014 roku Republic Records wydało „Try”, napisane przez Caillat, Babyface i Jason Reeves i zostało wyprodukowane przez Babyface. 12 sierpnia 2020 roku ogłosiła na Instagramie, że zespół się rozpadł.

Caillat był w związku z piosenkarzem Justinem Youngiem od 2009 do 2020 roku. Oboje byli zaręczeni w maju 2015. Ogłosili, że zakończyli zaręczyny w kwietniu 2020 roku.

Caillat wspiera różne organizacje charytatywne, w tym Farm Sanctuary, United Service Organizations, Wish Upon A Hero, MusiCares, Earth's Call Fund, Humane Society of the United States i WE Charity.

Dead Celebrity Status to kanadyjska grupa hip-hopowa wywodząca się z Sudbury w Ontario. Raperzy Yas Taalat i Bobby McIntosh, obaj byli członkowie nu metalowego zespołu Project Wyze, połączyli siły z niegdysiejszym mistrzem świata DMC, DJ Dopey, tworząc Dead Celebrity Status w 2003 roku.

Po rozpadzie Project Wyze Taalat i McIntosh zaczęli pisać i nagrywać nowy materiał pod nową wytwórnią Bodog Music. Utworzono status Dead Celebrity, ale MC uznali, że brakuje elementu. Do uzupełnienia grupy wezwali DJ Dopey, światowej sławy DJ-a.

Współpracowali z producentem Dannym Saberem, który pracował z takimi zespołami jak The Rolling Stones, U2 i Busta Rhymes. Kontakty Saber pozwoliły grupie na umieszczenie znanych artystów na ich debiutanckim albumie Blood Music, który ukazał się w 2006 roku. Album zawiera współpracę z takimi artystami jak Joss Stone, Dave Navarro, Stephen Perkins, Bif Naked, Twiggy Ramirez, Limore Twena i DJ Lethal. „We Fall, We Fall” był pierwszym singlem z albumu. Utwór zawiera gitarowe talenty Dave'a Navarro, a teksty są odpowiedzią na nierealne oczekiwania popkultury i przemysłu muzycznego. „Messiah”, utwór z Blood Music, znalazł się na ścieżce dźwiękowej filmu XXX: State of the Union z 2005 roku.

Dead Celebrity Status był jednym z występów występujących w 2006 North American Warped Tour. Byli występem otwierającym amerykańską trasę koncertową Tech N9ne w 2007 roku.

DCS ogłosiło na swojej stronie internetowej, że ich drugi album ma zostać wydany 6 sierpnia 2013 roku.

Od lipca 2019 roku ich oficjalna strona internetowa nie była już aktywna.

...SIŁA I PIĘKNO MUZYKI TKWIĄ W JEJ RÓŻNORODNOŚCI...


Nie znam za dobrze twórczości Alan Parsons Project, jednak zawartość tego albumu każe mi uznać określenie jej mianem rocka progresywnego za pewne nadużycie. Niby bogate klawiszowe aranżacje są, ba! - nawet orkiestrę zaproszono, niby jest i suita, ale w sumie chodzi o piosenki. Bardzo ładne piosenki.

Raz jest bardziej żywiołowo, jak w otwierającym 'May Be A Price To Pay', innym razem spokojniej, np. w 'Games People Play' czy w obu częściach 'The Turn Of A Friendly Card', zahaczających trochę o pieśni dawnych minstreli. W 'Snake Eyes' i przede wszystkim w znakomitym instrumentalu 'The Gold Bug' mamy echa swingu, w tym drugim podkreślone jeszcze saksofonem. Linie melodyczne są typowe dla AORu. Za grosz w nich drapieżności - taka już konwencja Adult Oriented Rocka. Są za to w większości całkiem chwytliwe. Nie epokowe, ale bardzo przyjemne. Tytułowa suita to w istocie kilka oddzielnych piosenek, które nawet nie udają, że są połączone. Grunt, że są udane. Alan Parsons i Eric Woolfson zadbali o ciekawe urozmaicone brzmienia poszczególnych utworów. Udział kilku różnych wokalistów nie przeszkadza w odbiorze.

W sumie jest to płyta, którą można polecić każdemu. Może i muzyka ma na niej stępione pazurki, ale dobre melodie zawsze są w cenie. Jest dobrze - bez rewelacji, ale bardzo solidnie. Tak na 3,5/5. Mnie na pewno 'The Turn...' zachęcił do zapoznania się z innymi dokonaniami Alan Parsons Project.

This is volume one in a series of albums designed to gather together rare and previously unreleased home recordings from the ‘80s onwards under the series title 'THESE TAPES REWIND'. From the mid ‘80s and into the early '90s my home studio, ('The Echo Observatory'), used a reel-to-reel analogue 16-track recorder. I mixed down via an analogue desk onto a very early SONY PCM F1 digital stereo machine. Whilst I released several albums recorded this way, there was a huge amount of material left 'on the shelf’.

For many years I chose not to listen to them or consider the possibility of their release. It is only now, in 2012 after many enquiries from fans, that I've had the curiosity or inclination to listen through this archive of old recordings. I was surprised by what I found. I've selected 24 tracks to present here. Other volumes will follow next year. (Bill Nelson. 2012)

Nelson was born in the West Riding of Yorkshire, in the semi-industrial town of Wakefield, showing a talent for art and design and a passion for science fiction. His father, saxophonist Walter Nelson, was the leader of a dance band, and his mother, Jean, had once performed as part of a dance troupe, so music permeated the household -- Nelson's brother, Ian, is also a saxophonist, while several close relatives were expert musicians.

Even so, Nelson never learned to read music, and was relatively late coming to guitar -- he was well into his teens before his father bought him the Gibson ES345 that eventually became his trademark. His early influences included Duane Eddy, as well as the icon of every budding English guitarist of the early '60s, Hank Marvin of the Shadows ("The Passion," included on The Two-Fold Aspect of Everything, is a veritable chronicle of Marvin's influence). Later influences included Jimi Hendrix, for whom Nelson wrote "Crying to the Sky," a Be Bop Deluxe song.

After graduating from the avant-rock finishing school that was Japan, Sylvian spent the '90s redefining the role of the singer-songwriter.

On each of his solo releases he's demonstrated increasingly more adventurous sonic experimentalism, all the while developing his songcraft and production skills. DEAD BEES ON A CAKE is the culmination of all his previous efforts, offering a perfect blend of unconventionality and accessibility.

As on Sylvian's previous albums, there's a combination of jazz, ambient and world music influences, but one new wrinkle is a distinct R&B flavor on several tracks, as evidenced by the syncopated drum loops and punchy rhythm guitar accents. Sylvian's in no danger of becoming the avant garde R. Kelly, though--"All of My Mother's Names" is a blazing modern jazz instrumental, while "Pollen Path" is an outre affair that boasts a John Cage sample.

Sylvian's Buddhist faith informs most of the lyrics, and undoubtedly inspired the Eastern modalities that crop up throughout. Of course, his deep, smooth voice is as rich and inviting an instrument as ever. A challenging album that defies expectations, DEAD BEES is both strikingly unusual and warmly engaging.

The fractured, stark yin to Dead Bees on a Cake's tranquil, sensuous yang, Blemish is an unforeseen detour taken by David Sylvian, who has made eight of his most bare, anguished, and intense songs, all of which are neither pleasant nor the least bit settling. For half of the album, Sylvian is completely alone, accompanied only by his own guitar and electronic treatments. On the others, he is joined by either Derek Bailey or Christian Fennesz, two guitarists with indispensable roles. The opening title track sets the tone, with heavily echoed noise fibers warping and reverberating for nearly 14 minutes.

The effects swell and recede at a disquieting but sunken volume, while Sylvian's upfront voice -- more stripped and vulnerable than it was in Japan's "Ghosts" -- slips in lines like "I fall outside of her," "Give me one more chance to do things right," and "Life's for the taking, so they say -- take it away." Bailey's improvised work appears in three songs and is most complementary during "The Good Son," in which his prickles and sudden spasms carry and push, rather than support, Sylvian's voice. "A Fire in the Forest," the album's own "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," lets the listener out with a battered sense of optimism. Featuring an arrangement from Fennesz, a melody struggles to find its way out of twisted fragments and soft beams of noise, as Sylvian sings of his search to reach the sunshine that awaits him above gray skies.

Throughout the album, clues are dropped about the events that transpired and the circumstances surrounding them, but it's all left to be pieced together and interpreted by the listener, who will have to sift through the hedged lines, meticulously organized sounds -- from rattling shopping carts to handclaps to delicate fragments of guitar -- and numerous disfigurations of clear-cut linear thought. Blemish is the kind of record that provokes many longtime followers to throw up their arms in aggravation -- it's very much a "final straw" record. A work of beautiful, desolate fragility, Blemish is also the kind of record that will have the opposite effect on a select few, most of whom no doubt obsess over records like Scott Walker's Tilt and Mark Hollis' Mark Hollis.

This is one messed up set. Dig the fact that this is Serge Gainsbourg in dread beat and booze.

Aux Armes et Cætera is literally Gainsbourg on the rocksteady tip with Sly and Robbie, Flabba Holt, Michael "Mao" Chung, Ansel Collins, I-Threes, Rita Marley, Marcia Griffiths, and Judy Mowatt, Sticky Thompson, Leroy "Horsemouth" Wallace, and a bunch of French folks playing puff-the-ganja and help the white man in Kingston.

Gainsbourg knew what he wanted -- a Lee Perry-styled dubber and dread outing -- and he knew the cats to hire to get it. It contains 15 cuts; some, such as "Javanise," are remakes, while others, ("Des Laids, Des Laids") were written for the session.

The Jamaican studio musicians are solid, rocking it down the pipe dark, smoky, and deadly in their grooves. While Serge would seemingly be at a creative impasse, having been one of the whitest men ever to record a side, his tunes work here because he's allowed them to be completely transformed by the Rastas, and his vocals work because they are chanted rather than sung. This is weird, dangerous, and campy music, but it works like a charm. In its day this album was reviled: now it's the work of a visionary. Go figure, but if you dig Gainsbourg, this is for you.

OPIS
Mija prawie osiem lat, odkąd powstała pierwsza część Na zawsze punk. Rekord okazał się sukcesem. Okazało się, że przypominanie ludziom czasami zapomnianych zespołów,
które wcześniej odgrywały ważną rolę na polskiej scenie punkowej, miało sens. Powiedziano nam, że powinniśmy rozwijać ten projekt. W międzyczasie nastąpiły zmiany personalne
w naszym zespole i zaczęliśmy myśleć o nowym materiale. Wtedy właśnie ktoś wpadł na pomysł, by wydać Na zawsze punk 2.
Zespołów było bardzo dużo - przesłuchaliśmy setki kaset, odwiedziliśmy dziesiątki stron, odświeżyliśmy wspomnienia. Ostatecznie wybraliśmy 20 zespołów,
których utworów możecie posłuchać na tej płycie. Te fragmenty są wciąż aktualne. Na zawsze punk 2 charakteryzują się głównie utworami pesymistycznymi.
