Reedycja najważniejszych płyt w formacie SACD, ze względu na dostępność archiwów Polskich Nagrań w postaci analogowych taśm matek, jest naturalnym wyborem umożliwiającym najdoskonalsze zbliżenie się albumów do analogowego oryginału wynosząc je na niespotykany dotąd na polskim rynku muzycznym poziom.
W celu zapewnienia pełnej zgodności ze standardowymi odtwarzaczami płyt CD, niniejszy seria SACD została wykonana jako hybrydowa i zawiera dodatkową warstwę danych w formacie CD Audio, czytaną przez wszystkie odtwarzacze CD. Częstotliwość próbkowania strumienia danych DSD wykorzystywanego na płytach SACD jest 64 razy wyższa niż na płycie audio CD i wynosi 2,824MHz.

Kultowa płyta Novi Singers przed wielu laty była wielkim wydarzeniem artystycznym. Propozycja Novi Singers, wobec muzyki tak "wrażliwej" na wszelkie opracowania i transkrypcje, jaką jest muzyka Chopina, spotkała się z powszechną aprobatą, a przez bardzo wielu słuchaczy została przyjęta wręcz entuzjastycznie. Novi przez wiele lat znajdowali się w czołówce trzech najlepszych zespołów wokalnych świata w rankingu magazynu "Down Beat", a w roku 1978 zajęli pierwsze miejsce.

Jak napisał zespół Novi na okładce:
"Chopin – znaczy muzyka. Chopin – znaczy Polska. Chcieliśmy zaśpiewać Chopina, ażeby zidentyfikować się z jego muzyką, aby odnaleźć w niej to co nasze; w wielkiej prawdzie muzyki Chopina znaleźć fragment swojej prawdy. Jeżeli chociaż w części nam się to udało – będziemy szczęśliwi."

Niezwykła jest także okładka płyty autorstwa Rafała Olbińskiego.




Kultowej już dziś płycie Novi Singers skłonni jesteśmy wybaczyć zachowawczość tak samo jak ukochanej babci to, że do ciasta wciąż dodaje – czy to z przyzwyczajenia, czy z oszczędności – margarynę zamiast masła. „Novi Sing Chopin” była w końcu jedną z pierwszych – obok pochodzących z tego samego okresu fortepianowych parafraz Mieczysława Kosza – prób wzięcia kompozycji Fryderyka na warsztat jazzowy. I to kompozycji nie byle jakich. Wszak mamy tu prawdziwe chopinowskie greatest hits: począwszy od elegijnego Preludium e-moll, poprzez grzeczny i wytworny Grande Valse Brillante („Powinien być tańczony co najmniej przez hrabiny...”, jak określił go Schumann), wreszcie nacechowany zwięzłą ulotnością Walc Des-dur i – w finale – wijącą się krętymi drogami Balladę f-moll.

Novi znów łechtali rodzimych wielbicieli jazzowej wokalistyki, lecz tym razem, zdawać by się mogło, pozostał niedosyt. W starannych wokalnych transkrypcjach rozpisanych na głosy Ewy Wanat, Bernarda Kawki, Janusza Mycha i Waldemara Parzyńskiego próżno szukać choćby szczątkowej improwizacji. Każdy głos starannie trzyma się wytyczonej drogi, to śpiew aranżowany niemal co do nuty. Novi są nowi, lecz ich Chopin – stary, wzięty żywcem z partytury, nie parafrazowany. Ma to jednak i dobrą stronę. Oto na płycie zaśpiewanej w całości a cappella (jeśli nie liczyć pląsającego dyskretnie kontrabasu), zawierającej materiał znany słuchaczowi prawie że intuicyjnie, wokalny kunszt działającego już wtedy jako kwartet zespołu lśni pełnym blaskiem. Wciąż jeszcze świeża jak na ówczesne standardy maniera stylistyczna prezentowana przez grupę dociera do odbiorców w czystej postaci, a ci, uwolnieni od umysłowego wysiłku „trawienia” kolejnych tematów i ich przetworzeń, chłoną ją wszystkimi porami. Nie jest więc „Novi Sing Chopin” jazzową kapitulacją. Novi ugrali tą płytą więcej, niż można by przypuszczać, czego dowodem wielkie uznanie, z jakim spotkał się krążek w kraju i za granicą.

Kolejne już kompaktowe wznowienie albumu, wydane przez Polskie Nagrania z zachowaniem oryginalnej okładki autorstwa Rafała Olbińskiego, kiczowatej jak wszystko, co wyszło spod jego ręki, poszerzono o jedno dodatkowe nagranie. Niestety, Beatlesowski Fool on the Hill (nagrany znacznie później przez skład z Ryszardem Szeremetą) pasuje tu jak pięść do nosa. Ponoć od przybytku głowa nie boli – mnie rozbolała. Nie wiem, czy nie rozbolałaby i Chopina, który był niezwykle przeczulony na własnym punkcie. „Nie mam ochoty, aby we mnie masło owijano, tak jak się to z portretem Lelewela stało” – pisał. Wtedy nie mógł jeszcze wiedzieć, co to margaryna.
