Make no mistake, Willy & the Poor Boys is a fun record, perhaps the breeziest album CCR ever made. Apart from the eerie minor-key closer "Effigy" (one of John Fogerty's most haunting numbers), there is little of the doom that colored Green River. Fogerty's rage remains, blazing to the forefront on "Fortunate Son," a working-class protest song that cuts harder than any of the explicit Vietnam protest songs of the era, which is one of the reasons that it hasn't aged where its peers have. Also, there's that unbridled vocal from Fogerty and the ferocious playing on CCR, which both sound fresh as they did upon release. "Fortunate Son" is one of the greatest, hardest rock & rollers ever cut, so it might seem to be out of step with an album that is pretty laid-back and friendly, but there's that elemental joy that by late '69 was one of CCR's main

The material on Skid Row is mostly typical pop-metal fluff, but since Skid Row was one of the hardest bands to find commercial success during the hair metal fad, the songs sound angrier and more aggressive than the lyrics and hooks might indicate. Buying time and thwarting bootleggers, Nirvana and DGC released the rarities compilation Incesticide toward the end of 1992. For an act that was one of the definitive album artists of the late '80s and '90s, Soundgarden was a surprisingly effective singles band. Trumpeter Miles Davis was without doubt one of the most important and influential jazz musicians of the post-war era, not only as a pioneer of the bebop movement but through being at the forefront of many stylistic and musical innovations over the years. His landmark debut album for Capitol The Birth Of The Cool, recorded during 1949 and 1950, became regarded as seminal in the history of cool jazz, exploring unusual harmonies and textures. 1 sierpnia 1944 roku w Warszawie było pół miliona kobiet. Wiele z nich poszło do Powstania jako sanitariuszki, łączniczki, część chwyciła za broń. Wszystkie walczyły o przetrwanie. Panienka z dobrego domu w myślach powtarzała: „Boże, spraw, abym wytrzymała tortury”. Matka, która urodziła tuż przed godziną „W”, kołysała dziecko w rytm wybuchających bomb. I ośmioletnia Helenka, prowadzona na pewną śmierć. „Mamo, ja nie chcę umierać” – szeptała.

Przez 63 dni heroicznej bitwy walczyły, bały się, śmiały, kochały, opłakiwały bliskich. Mężczyźni stwierdzili: „Ojczyzna jest pierwsza. Musicie sobie jakoś radzić”. Kobiety zostały same, w obliczu dramatycznych dylematów. Włożyć coś do garnka czy kupić bandaże dla rannych? Jak zginę: z głodu czy z rąk Niemców? Ale pytanie, czy warto walczyć, w ogóle nie przychodziło im do głowy. Bo odpowiedź była tylko jedna.
