RUNNING WILD po wydaniu „Gates of Purgatory” może nie zdobył jeszcze tak szerokiej rzeszy fanów co w okresie piractwa, ale jakoś to Rolfa Kasperka nie przygnębiło i na nagrał właściwie niemal identyczny album zatytułowany „Branded and Exiled”. Dokonano drobnej zmiany na stanowisku gitarzysty gdzie Geralda Wernceke który skupił się na działalności pozamuzycznej, obecnie podbija serca starych fanów za sprawą zespołu THE GATE , a w jego miejsce pojawił się jeden z najbardziej utalentowanych gitarzystów RUNNING WILD, a mianowicie Majk Moti. Podstawą filmu stał się żywot świętego Szymona zwanego Słupnikiem, syryjskiego mnicha z V wieku. Usunięty z klasztoru za nadmierną ascezę, spędził następne 30 lat na platformie ustawionej na szczycie kolumny na pustyni. W postaci Szymona Bunuel ilustruje impotencję czynu świętych. Szatan ukazuje Szymonowi degenerację cywilizacji XX wieku, na której rozwój nie miało żadnego wpływu jego poświęcenie.
