...SIŁA I PIĘKNO MUZYKI TKWIĄ W JEJ RÓŻNORODNOŚCI...

..::OPIS::..

"Blasphemy Made Flesh" i "None So Vile" absolutnie niczego nie brakowało, obie te płyty prezentowały zajebiście wysoki poziom, pod każdym względem były spójne i najlepiej ukazywały sedno stylu tych Kanadyjczyków.
- bliżej mu natomiast do core'owych krzykaczy.

Reinstating all hope that there is still life and creativity in the realm of death metal, the members of Montreal’s Cryptopsy aren’t out to fool anyone with their music or songwriting. The band strives to completely indulge themselves in and explore one musical characteristic, sheer Brutality. Possessing the technical aspects that most of the scene’s giants can only hope to achieve, Cryptopsy heave a mighty load of harsh grind that is overwhelming to fans of noise and crust as well as death metal. Garnering an incredible underground following in the last few years, especially in Europe, these guys relentlessly search their creative realms for expansion of their devastating music, and their first two albums have set standards in this overcrowded scene. As if Cryptopsy haven’t already done enough to separate themselves from the normal ranks, the band are set to unleash their third monstrous and most vital album, WHISPER SUPREMACY. Never has the time been more ideal for a record like WHISPER SUPREMACY to drive a dominating spike through the cold heart of Death Metal. Grab onto something stable, for you’ve now been warned!

Cryptopsy is one of the most well-known technical death metal bands; they earned their respect many years ago, yet there are still some unsatisfied and miserable people who think that after their greatest release, "None So Vile," everything went to shit. Well, don’t be mistaken by these opinions because they don’t make sense, and you should consider them a waste of your time.

So, why is Cryptopsy's "Whisper Supremacy" such a hated album? Personally, I think there are no reasons for that, but "objectively," the album is hated because ex-Cryptopsy vocalist Lord Worm left the band after "None So Vile," and the rest you can imagine yourself. Lord Worm's and DiSalvo's (singer on this album) vocals are certainly different, but that doesn’t make it a reason to not give a chance to the new singer. Hot take incoming: I do think that Mike is overall a better vocalist than Lord Worm. Worm's vocals feel dull, and I could compare them to zombie sounds, but on the other hand, Mike's vocals are to me, more natural and consistent, and they fit more into a genre like what Cryptopsy plays.

While "None So Vile" was already pretty technical, this album is only more technical and more interesting to listen to, and it's so fucking fast that on the 1st listen you don't even know what's happening. Jon Levasseur is a beast of a guitarist, and he should be more appreciated for the work he has done. He always makes great combinations of the riffs, and this is why I personally think that Cryptopsy is the best technical dm band out there. At first, you got some grim-like and inhuman riffs, and he just casually combined it with some of the heaviest riffs that Cryptopsy has ever come to. A crazy example of Levasseur's work is definitely going to be the opening track for the album—"Emaciate."". And his wild guitar solos? Sometimes, I'm about to cry at how fricking beautiful certain guitar solos are! It's sad that he left the band; you can feel that albums without him are missing something, and that's him.

I was always arguing about this, and I will forever defend my opinion, but Flo Mounier is the best metal drummer of all time. You can’t tell me that a random (and many popular ones) drummer can play a fast shit like this. Yes, Flo's a bit sloppy at certain times in the songs, but we forgive him because of the hard work he put into this album. Actually, I think that his sloppy playing makes the drumming more accessible to the listener and more natural; he just doesn’t sound like a drum machine but like a fucking monster behind the drum kit. I've never understood people who put this guy down; if you have a problem with his playing, then go for it and fucking play it as good as he can! One more thing: Mounier is not a repetitive drummer; he has a crazy drumming range in some songs and crazy combinations of drums and cymbals, but I will discuss that somewhere else. "Flame to the Surface" and "Cold Hate, Warm Blood" are indeed the best examples of Flo's inhuman drumming.

Mike DiSalvo is a great vocalist and also an interesting lyrics composer. There's a big difference between Lord Worm's and Mike's lyrics. While Worm's lyrics are pretty much gnarly and talking about insanity or murder, DiSalvo's are leading a different way. You need to have a big imagination and see the background of his lyrics, but we can definitely say he's talking about his rage towards something, his suffering, and (I think 1 or 2 songs are like this?) there are songs where he's talking about drugs behind context. Of course, it's drastically different from the previous albums, but I just don't know; I like the philosophical view of Mike. Well, it's on you to decide!

What about some of the tracks to recommend? Personally, I would recommend the whole album, but I'll just mention 2-3 songs to go for. So, of course, "Cold Hate, Warm Blood" is one of my favorite Cryptopsy songs, and it is globally known why. If you're a fan of more melodic things, I think that this song is perfectly made for you. Then some of the less unknown and some underrated ones, we got "Flame to the Surface," which is, I think, the most wild and craziest song on this album. You got here some of the best Flo's drum performances, and of course, Jon's riffs and his musical intelligence aren't missing on this one. Imo, riffs from this song are by far my favorite ones. And the third go-to song would be "White Worms." Again, it is a pretty well-known song for its high popularity and, once again, for its majestic performances.

So, I have one favor for you to do: listen to this album without thinking about those negative stupid reviews, have a clear mind, and listen to the full album as many times as your brain requires you to do so. "Whisper Supremacy" is a perfect example of a "never giving up" album that fights its demons and its obstacles getting in its way. This album has one of the best performances by its old lineup: Jon's majestic riffs, Flo's wild drumming, and Mike's hardcore-like vocals, which perfectly fit the genre itself. "Witness the final words I've spoken"...
