...SIŁA I PIĘKNO MUZYKI TKWIĄ W JEJ RÓŻNORODNOŚCI...
..::OPIS::..
EXCAVATED GRAVES jest najnowszym muzycznym wcieleniem znanego z nieodżałowanego PARRICIDE Piotra Sabarańskiego oraz Michała "Stopy" Stokera (ex-FAM, ex-Dissenter). Twórczość zespołu można zakwalifikować jako death metal nawiązujący do europejskiej sceny lat 80. i 90. zastępując charakterystyczną przystępność ciężarem, nieokiełznaną gwałtownością oraz spaczoną melodyką podkręconą szczyptą chaotyczności i miażdżącym zwolnieniami.
W nagraniach oprócz wyżej wymienionych wzięły udział wyśmienite postaci rodzimej sceny metalowej skupione wokół założonego przez Sabarańskiego kolektywu Knave Inc.: Bartłomiej "Bruno" Waruszewski (PROTOTYP, ex-AZARATH), Michał Kaszczyszyn (ex-NEAGHI), Mariusz "Mel" Miernik (ex-DAMNABLE, ex-SQUASH BOWELS) oraz Adrian Słojewski (PYORRHOEA, NUCLEAR VOMIT)

EXCAVATED GRAVES is the latest musical incarnation of Piotr Sabarański, known from the much-missed and highly respected PARRICIDE and Michał "Stoker" Stopa (ex-FAM, ex-DISSENTER). The band’s output can be classified as death metal rooted in the European scene of the '80. and ’90s—yet instead of the characteristic melodies of that era, it delivers sheer heaviness, unrestrained ferocity, and a twisted sense of melody enhanced by a touch of chaos and crushing breaks.
Apart from Piotr Sabarański and Michał "Stoker" Stopa, the recordings feature outstanding figures of the Polish metal scene gathered around Knave Inc., the collective founded by Sabarański: Bartłomiej "Bruno" Waruszewski (PROTOTYP, ex-AZARATH), Michał Kaszczyszyn (ex-NEAGHI), Mariusz "Mel" Miernik (ex-DAMNABLE, ex-SQUASH BOWELS) and Adrian Słojewski (PYORRHOEA, NUCLEAR VOMIT).

The brainchild of former Parricide guitarist Piotr Sabanranski and Michał “Stoker” Stopa, Excavated Graves are a new death metal group hailing from Poland and their debut EP, the brilliantly titled ‘Life Isn’t for Everyone’ is out now through Selfmadegod Records. The press blurb promises old school death metal firmly rooted in the late 80s/early 90s, so I’m already looking forward to it.
Something resembling a soundtrack to an old black and white movie opens ‘Soil’, before a hellish rumble crashes through the picture and focuses our attention squarely onto an EP that clearly loves old fashioned death metal. But this isn’t just a modern take on OSDM, this is an EP that ripples with an authentic taste of the early 90s. Bolt Thrower, Vader, Malevolent Creation; all these and more swirl around in the chaos that Excavated Graves create. The title track sounds like an old Swedish death metal demo band that has been unearthed, while rampant guitar riffs channel the spirits of ‘Dismember and Grave through the ripping ‘Deepfrozen’. I think early Bolt Thrower is the most prevalent influence here, as the insatiable rumble of ‘Waste of War’ brings memories of ‘Realm of Chaos’ straight to my brain.
While only nineteen minutes long, ‘Life Isn’t for Everyone’ drags you straight back to some primordial days in early death metal, and presents it with a loving attention to detail a lot of bands miss. Heavy, somewhat atmospheric and always presenting us with a massive groove to ride, Excavated Graves have shown a huge amount of promise on this EP to make us look forward to a full length. Crushing stuff.
