Reedycja kompilacyjnego materiału hiszpańskich horror death/grind rzeźników MACHETAZO, pierwotnie wydanego na CD w 2006 roku i od lat całkowicie niedostępnego. „Ultratumba” to 28 utworów pochodzących ze wszystkich EP-ek zespołu z lat 1998–2004, w tym splitów z CIANIDE, GENERAL SURGERY, BODIES LAY BROKEN, CORRUPTED, RISE ABOVE i ABSCESS, materiałów z EP-ek „The Maggot Sessions” i „Horror Grind” oraz numerów z tribute’ów dla CARCASS („Requiems of Revulsion”) i IMPETIGO („Wizards of Gore”). Brudny, cuchnący death/grind inspirowany klasycznymi zespołami jak CARCASS, REPULSION, AUTOPSY.
FUCK YES! It's so good to see that not all new releases are shit. Ok, this actually isn't new music, since it's a compilation of all past Splits and MCD's, except the one with Total Fucking Destruction.
I know that an hour (actually 62 minutes) of death/grind can be excessive, and because of that I was kind of sceptic about this release being a good idea, but luckily I was wrong.
The thing that makes this release flow right, and without being boring, is the fact that the releases compilated here cover many years of the band, so you can listen to the progression of their sound. You can hear ultra-fast grind parts, along with more groovy riffs and even some slower bits, nearer to doom.
The variety of the bands covered (Carcass, Saint Vitus, Venom, and a few others) also hepls to make you forget about the lenght of the album.
The only thing I didn't like that much were the versions of "Children of the grave" of Black Sabbath, and "Mortado" of Impetigo, because they add so much speed in some parts, that the riffs are almost ungrecognizable, and I think that that's something that shouldn't be done with classic songs like those. Anyway 26 good tracks out of 28 is a killer fraction.
So if you like Death Metal you NEED this one, and if you don't know Machetazo this might be the right album to introduce yourself to their world of gore and horror.
