Jakiś czas temu nastąpiła cudowna reaktywacja jednej z moich ulubionych kapel – PITCH SHIFTER. Cieszyłem się strasznie, bo po pierwsze: od dawna moim marzeniem było zobaczyć ich na żywo. Po drugie: na pewno zabiorą się do pracy nad nową płytą.

No i stało się. Jest nowa płyta, ale niestety piosenki na niej nie są już nowe. Kolesie postanowili cofnąć się do swoich początków i wygrzebali sesję nagraniowa u słynnego Johna Peela, na której znalazły się utwory zarejestrowane w latach 1991-93. Znawcy gatunku wiedzą co to za persona więc nie będę się rozwodził na jego temat.

Z jednej strony ucieszyłem się z tej „nowej” płyty, bo początkowa twórczość Pitch Shifter jest mi bardzo bliska. „Sumbit” oraz „Desensitized” to dla mnie ich najlepsze dokonania. I właśnie utwory z wyżej wspomnianych płyt znajdziemy na nowym wydawnictwie. Chłodne fabryczne brzmienie, głęboki growl i mechaniczne sample to znak rozpoznawczy wczesnego PITCH SHIFTER. „Gritter”, „Trendrill” czy „Deconstruction” to ich sztandarowe utwory. Zawsze mam ciarki, jak słucham tych industrialnych odgłosów powstałych gdzieś na przedmieściach Nottingham.

Nie powiem, miło jest się cofnąć do młodzieńczych lat i przypomnieć sobie co mi wtedy w duszy grało. A teraz nie pozostało mi nic innego, jak uzbroić się w cierpliwość i oczekiwać tej „prawdziwej” nowej płyty


JOHN PEEL – brytyjski prezenter radiowy i dziennikarz muzyczny, związany z radiem BBC. Podczas swojej 40-letniej kariery zajmował się propagowaniem nowatorskich nurtów muzycznych oraz wykonawców. Wywarł znaczący wpływ na scenę rockową w Wielkiej Brytanii. Pracował jako DJ w stacji BBC Radio 1, dla której rejestrował sesje nagraniowe młodych artystów i zespołów. Pracował min. z Joy Division, Killing Joke, Napalm Death, Carcass, The Birthday Party czy The Cure.

Zmarł 24 października 2004 r na zawał serca podczas wakacji w Peru.



We're extremely proud to announce the first ever release of PITCHSHIFTER's legendary BBC sessions for the late, great John Peel.

These ultra heavy industrial metal tracks were recorded over two sessions at the iconic Maida Vale studios: 28th April 1991 and 30th March 1993 and were sourced directly from the BBC Archives (with thanks), with careful remastering for CD and vinyl.

The 1991 session was recorded during the same period as "Industrial" (Deaf Records / Peaceville), with the 1993 session recorded around the time of "Desensitized" (Earache), with the massive EP "Submit" in between.

He was instrumental in getting the band out there and often played our music on the radio when no one else dared. Founded in Nottingham in 1989, PITCHSHIFTER's early style was heavy industrial metal, being cited as one of the originators of the genre along with Godflesh - a style which they termed "Death Industrial". These sessions and albums mark the end of that classic period, before a shift towards the more commercial, beat-driven Industrial style from the mid-90's onward that they are still known for.
