Członek wielu zespołów rockowych i jeden z najbardziej znanych symboli muzyki rockowej. W roku 2003 pojawił się na 4. miejscu listy 100 największych gitarzystów wszech czasów magazynu „Rolling Stone”, w 2011 zaś na miejscu 2. W 2000 roku został wprowadzony jako artysta solowy do Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Wstawka zawiera najnowszy, dwudziesty drugi album studyjny Claptona.
