The Sims 4 to kolejna część serii popularnych na całym świecie wirtualnych symulatorów życia. Podobnie jak w przypadku poprzednich odsłon cyklu, za jego produkcję odpowiada amerykańskie studio Maxis.

Pierwsze The Sims ukazało się jeszcze w 2000 roku. Jego pomysłodawcą był Will Wright, założyciel Maxis i twórca SimCity oraz innych pokrewnych mu gier z Sim w tytule, które święciły swoje największe sukcesy w latach 90. The Sims szybko przerosło popularnością pozostałe gry z katalogu dewelopera, stając się fenomenem i jedną z najpopularniejszych marek w branży elektronicznej rozrywki.

The Sims 4 unika rewolucyjnych zmian w modelu rozgrywki. W trakcie zabawy gracz opiekuje się więc rodziną wirtualnych Simów, dbając o ich wszystkie potrzeby duchowe i materialne, a także zapewniając dach nad głową, projektując dom oraz ogród.
